I Became a New Magical Girl Priest

Chapter 342

It’s not been that long since we left the orphanage, but Ji-hye and I still visit it from time to time.

This year, we dropped by for a visit to greet the teachers, and we’re planning to stop by again around Chuseok.

Ji-hye has a mother, while I’m more or less independent… or something close to that. But still, that doesn’t change the fact that these are the people who raised us.

While we’re at it, we might as well check on the kids at the orphanage too. I didn’t really notice it when we grew up together, but it’s clear they’ve grown a lot in just a few months since our last visit. After all, people can grow from a fertilized egg to over a hundred centimeters in just about 15 years, so a few months is ample time for kids to change.

“How about this one?”

“…But do we really need to go all out for suits?”

Seeing Ji-hye so picky about the fabric and color of her suit made me really curious. After all, isn’t it better to just show them that we’re living well, instead of trying too hard?

“Oh come on, we have to let them know we’ve grown up now.”

Sure, when you put it that way, it sounds a bit strange.

“And it’d be nice to meet them looking sharp. Plus, wearing a suit shows them respect, like we’ve dressed up for the occasion.”

Is that how it works?

Now that I think about it, maybe having at least one suit wouldn’t be a bad idea.

Even though I’m not in the job market yet, the future of being a magical girl is always uncertain.

Plus, who knows? People could get married, and someday I might have to go to a funeral. Buying clothes that can be worn for serious occasions wouldn’t hurt.

With that thought in mind,

“We’ll have to greet my mom, too.”

Ji-hye casually turned her gaze towards the clothing racks and said that.

Well…

It’s not that I’ve never met Ji-hye’s mom. Of course, I thought she might be my mom at one point.

And it’s not like I’ve never met her since then. We’ve even had meals together and gone out somewhere.

While things might be a bit awkward between us, I wouldn’t say our relationship is bad. It’s not like we have to dress up just because suddenly something came up.

Ah, of course, I get what Ji-hye is talking about.

“Formal occasions,” right? Obviously.

And if we’re going to be formal in front of Ji-hye’s mom, it’s going to be for a really important reason—probably to greet her on a special day.

Yeah, I definitely need a suit.

And I’m starting to think one suit won’t cut it. It might feel off to wear Ji-hye’s suit when meeting other kids’ parents.

“Alright.”

Ji-hye held the suit up to me as she spoke.

“Hmm, I think the off-the-rack fit might not work.”

Ji-hye stared at my chest like it was a target.

“Did you even buy your uniform properly?”

“No, I mean, it just came in my size, you know?”

I bought a slightly loose uniform and had it tailored down a bit.

Ji-hye soon called an employee for help. They were trying to find a suit that fit me perfectly, but in the end, the employee couldn’t find one.

The waist was too big, or the chest was too tight. It was a little embarrassing to admit, but what can you do?

“Fine. If that’s the case, let’s just get a nice custom-made one instead.”

Ji-hye clapped her hands together and said with sparkling eyes.

“We’ve never tried on custom clothes.”

Ji-hye’s shimmering eyes didn’t seem to come from just excitement over new clothes.

Rather, it felt more like anticipation over me wearing something like that.

Seeing Ji-hye lean in closer, her eyes shining, made me chuckle and nod.

*

Thinking about it, I’m sure there will be more occasions in my life where I’ll need to choose clothes like this.

Surely, I’ll need to have some degree of custom fittings for what I wear on my wedding day. Although it’s common to rent dresses or tuxedos, you’d still need something that fits if various people are going to wear it.

And after all, I have quite a few people eyeing me.

I had this thought after I saw Ji-hye intensely watching the female tailor measure my size.

Especially when she seemed particularly interested in my chest and hip measurements, I lightly tapped her on the head and told her to keep some distance.

Honestly, it’s a bit embarrassing being stared at like that.

Ji-hye puffed her cheeks in annoyance but did step back a bit.

Still, she couldn’t take her eyes off the measuring. Isn’t that a little too blunt?

So, I decided to return the favor and stared while Ji-hye was being measured.

The only difference in our behaviors was that Ji-hye flared her chest out a bit, blushing.

The employees didn’t show a hint of reaction at all, but honestly, at this point, I wouldn’t be surprised if they were cursing under their breath.

After measuring, as we waited to look at fabrics or colors, an employee soon approached us.

“Please pick the style you want from this,” they said, handing over a tablet—

“Gah!”

Ji-hye unexpectedly gasped.

On that tablet were designs for what seemed like wedding dresses.

“…Do you sell wedding dresses here too?”

“Not just wedding dresses, but we also make most formal wear you might need for various occasions.”

The employee said with a big smile, a mischievous glint in their eye.

They must have noticed our situation, showing us this dress on purpose.

“I’ll pick it out next time we come for the same reason.”

I said as I poked Ji-hye’s side with my elbow, who had turned beet red imagining me in that slightly revealing wedding dress.

Why is she surprised anyway? I’ve seen worse outfits when transforming!

Well, I guess clothes can look different depending on the vibe or occasion.

“Today, I’d like to pick out my suit. Preferably with pants.”

“Gah!?”

When I said that, Ji-hye somehow gasped again.

Even the employee glanced back at Ji-hye in surprise.

Before long, Ji-hye’s face turned red, and she lowered her head slightly.

…Seems she’s aware it’s a bit embarrassing.

*

Two weeks later.

Given that Ji-hye and I are somewhat famous, our outfits were completed much faster than the reviews I saw on the internet.

As for my outfit, um, I really liked it. The suit pants tailored to fit my body, and the shirt and jacket—there’s not a single inconvenience, just a perfect bespoke suit.

“Wow, wow, wow…”

And Ji-hye’s reaction to seeing me was quite something.

Ji-hye’s suit looks pretty too. I picked pants for a bit more freedom of movement, but she chose a skirt suit.

It wasn’t so much a career woman look as it was something a bit more elegant, and it suited Ji-hye perfectly—even though her response didn’t seem all that serious.

Well, it’s great because it’s very Ji-hye.

“Ji-eun, you look amazing…”

“Uh, yeah.”

Seeing Ji-hye’s face turn red as she spoke made me blush a bit too.

I was lucky to bring it to the office. If it had turned serious in the suit store, it would have been really hard to bear that embarrassment.

gulp

I heard Ji-hye swallow hard.

“Why, do you want to hug me?”

I asked, laughing in disbelief.

“Um, well, yeah. I’d like to, but…”

Ji-hye was looking around nervously,

“Um…”

“Why?”

“That, it might sound weird.”

“You’ve said plenty of weird things.”

“…Not as weird as you.”

At that, Ji-hye shot me a glaring look. Yikes.

“Okay, if it’s just weird stuff, I’ll listen, so go ahead.”

As I changed the subject quickly, Ji-hye turned her eyes in a dazed circle.

Then, after a quick breath in,

“Um, could I touch you a little?”

“…Touch?”

“Uh, yeah…”

“Where?”

Ji-hye’s gaze drifted downward.

“…”

Since we were facing each other, her gaze landed somewhere strange, but I get what she means.

These ‘pants’ have been tailored to fit my waist and hips perfectly.

“Pfft.”

“J-Ji-eun, I’m serious!?”

Ji-hye shouted, flustered.

“I know, I know!”

I chuckled, slightly leaning back. Then I pushed my waist out a bit and said,

“Want to touch? Huh? Why? You’ve touched me plenty of times already without holding back.”

“Ugh.”

Yeah, it was a bit of an overreaction, intrigued by clothing styles. Good to know something new.

Right when I was thinking that,

“…Eek!?”

A sound unwittingly escaped my mouth.

Ji-hye, without me knowing, had pressed herself tightly against my back. It was a bit like a risky move—like something you see in a subway or bus, where she snugly wrapped around me.

And her hands, obviously, were right behind me.

A bit lower.

“So that’s how it is? Huh? Touching wouldn’t be a problem?”

“Ah, j-just a second, Ji-hye!?”

I felt Ji-hye’s grip tightening, and I screamed once more.

Geez, Ji-hye, are you cute or just really strange, fondling my back like that?

“…Is that really how it feels?”

I muttered Ji-hye’s earlier phrase.

Pushing her hands away, I turned around.

Ji-hye wasn’t easily taken down. Staying true to her defensive instincts, she leapt back and took a defensive stance.

The room wasn’t that big. It wouldn’t be enough for two people to run around.

Still.

It’s oddly enjoyable. I still felt embarrassed, but what can you say?

It reminded me of those times we were alone together in a room.

There were quite a few times we got scolded for making a loud racket.

Ji-hye chuckled.

I smiled back at her, and then I lunged forward.

You might be a master of defense, but I’m a trained attacker!

—In the end, the fight was a draw in multiple ways.

It wasn’t that we were fighting to win but more like two perverts igniting something between us.

When our friends burst in through the door due to the noise, the two of us were entangled, holding each other’s butts while threatening each other to let go.

Of course, our suits were all wrinkled and would need to be ironed again.
