I Became an All-round Artist

Chapter 97: Full of Energy

Whenever Gu Xi appeared, trouble usually followed. So why not let Gu Xi solve the trouble?

This was what you’d call “fighting fire with fire!”

Lin Yuan thought he was being very clever.

With Gu Xi joining in, the group’s efficiency soared. Previously, everyone in the composition department had to rely solely on Lin Yuan to play the piano accompaniment for them, which left him overwhelmed. But now, with Gu Xi's help, she took over more than half of the work, allowing Lin Yuan to take short breaks whenever he got tired.

“Gu Xi, why don’t you take a break too?” some of the composition students suggested, feeling a bit guilty as they watched Gu Xi busily moving around.

No one had expected Gu Xi to be so enthusiastic. Not only was she willing to help with the piano accompaniment, but she was also incredibly diligent, working nonstop without taking a single break.

On top of that, her attitude was so friendly. There was not a trace of the cold, aloof persona people had always associated with her.

“I’m not tired,” Gu Xi replied with a smile.

Of course, she was tired. Helping so many people would wear out even the best pianist. But despite the physical exhaustion, Gu Xi was mentally exhilarated.

After all, the legendary “Composer King” had asked her for help!

It wasn’t just about Lin Yuan asking her to play the piano. Even if he had asked her to move bricks, Gu Xi would have rolled up her sleeves and gotten to work without hesitation.

Being needed by the Composer King was an honor.

There were countless people in the industry who would give anything to help him but never got the chance! For Gu Xi, this was a dream come true—an opportunity to get closer to Lin Yuan, a chance to impress him.

She was actually thankful to the composition students. If it weren’t for them, Lin Yuan might not have needed her help at all.

She wasn’t afraid of being tired. What she feared was being seen as worthless in Lin Yuan’s eyes. After all, why would the Composer King value someone who had no use?

Meanwhile, the composition students quietly exchanged whispers:

“Wow, those rumors were so unfair.”

“Gu Xi’s actually really approachable.”

“She’s just as kind as Lin Yuan.”

“Maybe talented people aren’t as unapproachable as we thought. Remember when Lin Yuan first transferred to the composition department? We all thought he was distant and cold too, but after getting to know him, we realized he’s actually a great guy.”

These comments drifted into Gu Xi’s ears, making her feel even happier.

Maybe now she could finally soften the negative impression she had left on Lin Yuan before?

She snuck a glance at Lin Yuan’s reaction. He was sitting comfortably in his chair, relaxing. He seemed quite satisfied with her work and attitude.

Feeling even more motivated, Gu Xi threw herself into the task with renewed energy.

Of course, some classmates began to suspect that Gu Xi’s willingness to help was somehow connected to Lin Yuan, so one of them discreetly asked him why Gu Xi had agreed to assist.

Lin Yuan simply shook his head.

How would he know what Gu Xi was thinking? She had merely mentioned before that if he ever needed anything, he should feel free to ask her.

For Lin Yuan, it wasn’t surprising at all. He had heard similar offers countless times before. From as far back as he could remember, people rarely refused his requests. Since his classmates were always so helpful, Lin Yuan naturally tried to be helpful in return.

By 11:40 a.m., someone suggested, “It’s getting late. How about we take a break and treat Lin Yuan and Gu Xi to lunch?”

“Sure,” Lin Yuan said, perking up.

Seeing Lin Yuan agree, Gu Xi quickly nodded as well. There was no way she would pass up the chance to have lunch with him. “Thank you,” she said eagerly.

On campus, there were both cafeterias and restaurants, though the restaurants were a bit more expensive. Since everyone wanted to properly thank Lin Yuan and Gu Xi for their help, they decided to book a table at the best restaurant nearby and ordered a feast.

Lin Yuan enjoyed the meal thoroughly. As the lunch progressed, the restaurant brought out an assortment of desserts.

Lin Yuan’s eyes immediately zeroed in on the pudding jelly. It was one of his two favorite sweets—the other being ice cream.

“There are only two servings of this pudding jelly,” a classmate said, introducing the dish. “It’s their specialty.” Naturally, they gave the two portions to the stars of the meal: Lin Yuan and Gu Xi.

Lin Yuan happily devoured his strawberry-flavored pudding jelly, still craving more even after he finished.

Noticing this, his classmates awkwardly chuckled. “That pudding jelly is limited. They only make a small batch each day. We’ll buy more for you next time.”

“I haven’t touched mine yet,” Gu Xi blurted out without thinking. “If you don’t mind, you can have mine.”

All eyes turned toward Gu Xi. At first, their gazes were a bit puzzled, but soon they seemed to understand.

It turned out that even the famous piano goddess Gu Xi wasn’t all that different from the other girls in class, many of whom often shared their favorite snacks with Lin Yuan.

Gu Xi wasn’t embarrassed by the attention, though. The only person she cared about was Lin Yuan. What did others’ opinions matter?

Still, she wondered, “Was I being too obvious?”

“Sure,” Lin Yuan said, accepting her offer with a smile.

Who could say no to pudding jelly or ice cream?

Gu Xi let out a sigh of relief. It seemed Lin Yuan really did like pudding jelly.

Wait, didn’t he also like ice cream? She remembered how, last time, she had the audacity to compete with him over ice cream…

After lunch, in the afternoon, Lin Yuan and Gu Xi resumed recording piano accompaniments for their classmates. They worked together until evening, finally completing all the necessary recordings.

Everyone thanked them profusely as they left.

Once the crowd dispersed, Gu Xi collapsed into a chair. Exhausted from the day’s work, she had gone above and beyond to make things easier for Lin Yuan.

But thinking about how she had made some progress with him today, Gu Xi’s spirits lifted. She clenched her fists with renewed determination.

“Stay calm,” she reminded herself. “Don’t rush things!”

Winning Lin Yuan’s approval was going to be a long journey, but Gu Xi was patient.

Meanwhile, at Starry Company, Sun Yaohuo, who was getting ready to leave work, suddenly felt a strange sense of danger.

“Is Jiang Kui making another move?” he muttered to himself.

Sun Yaohuo prided himself on his unbeatable flattery skills, but the one time he had failed was against Jiang Kui, when she had bought every flavor of milk tea for Lin Yuan.

“She’s a formidable rival,” Sun Yaohuo thought, clenching his fists.
