Chapter 11.2
Stage 1-11. ‘Saviors’ Of All
“Ouga-sama. Are you feeling alright?”
“Yeah. I’m used to this level of shaking.”
“I-I might not be… feeling so good… ugh…”
“Hey, hey…”
I gently pat Mashiro’s back, her face clearly pale.
She had been excited and lively during the first few minutes of the carriage ride, but gradually, she couldn’t withstand the repeated shaking.
“It’s rare to have a chance to ride in a carriage. I suffered the same way when I was younger.”
Recalling her days as a holy knight, Alice wrapped a bag in cloth to make a simple pillow.
“It’s cramped, but please lie down here. It should be a bit better.”
“Ugh… thank you…”
She, who had been sitting next to me, slowly stood up and tried to swap seats with Alice.
As I watched her out of the corner of my eye, I looked at the scenery outside the window.
We were heading to Inivent.
A small, unremarkable town on the outskirts of the royal capital, where its lack of features was its feature.
Not all parts of the royal capital are thriving.
The further you get from the center, the more rural it becomes.
In other words, the number of unmaintained roads increases as well.
“Ah!”
The carriage shook violently up and down.
Mashiro, who had been standing, wobbled and fell towards me.
Losing her balance, she slammed her head right into my stomach.
That was the trigger.
“…Bleeegh!”
“Aah!? Ouga-sama’s clothes!?”
The sound of my classmate losing something she shouldn’t and the maid’s scream echoed inside the carriage.
“I’m sorry, I’m sorry, I’m sorry!”
“I’ve told you multiple times, it’s fine. But if you keep shaking like that…”
“…Ugh…”
“Are you an idiot? I think it’s okay to call you an idiot now, right?”
After arriving in Inivent, we followed Alice’s lead and walked through the town.
The town was so devoid of life that it was almost desolate, making you question if anyone really lived there.
“Miss Liche. Please, allow me to carry you on my back…”
“Ugh… I’m sorry…”
With such an exchange, Alice was now carrying Mashiro on her back out of concern.
“…There really are people harassing this place, right?”
“Yes. My friend doesn’t lie.”
“Well, that’s good.”
But what’s their aim? Honestly, I can’t see much profit in it.
The land in such a worn-out town wouldn’t be worth much.
Feeling uneasy, we continued walking.
“If you turn right at that corner, you’ll reach the orphanage.”
“You remember it well. Even without looking at a map.”
“I’ve been here a few times. Look, I’m sure everyone will be out to greet us—”
Her words were cut off.
Because the scene that unfolded before us was of five men pushing down a woman with orange hair.
“…Looks like it’s our time to shine already.”
I immediately dashed forward and delivered a flying kick to the men.
“Gah!?”
The men, caught off guard by the unexpected attack, collapsed like dominoes.
Alice was ensuring the safety of the woman, who was probably her friend.
“Wh-What the hell!? Who the hell are you guys!?”
The thugs quickly got into a fighting stance.
In response, I also readied myself.
“We’re here to take you down.”
“Hey, hey, jokes like that are only funny for babies, you brat.”
“I’ll let you off, so why don’t you go home and suck on your mommy’s breast?”
“But I’d rather suck on those girls’ over there!”
Their vulgar laughter echoed.
What a bunch of unpleasant guys.
Let’s shut them up right here and now.
But before my fists could silence them, Alice’s powerful voice did the job.
“You scum! Do you even realize who this person is!?”
She stood before me, knelt down on one knee, and started scattering confetti from who knows where.
The ground turned pink with the fluttering papers.
A-Alice-san?
Please stop, this is really embarrassing…
“The one who banishes all darkness from this world and brings forth light! The savior who judges all evil and lives by justice!”
She delivered her speech smoothly, as if she had done it many times before.
“Ouga Vellet-sama!!”
And then, she proudly declared my name.
Alice did.
“……….”
Stop it! This silence is unbearable!
Don’t look at me like I’m some kind of weirdo!
And you, Alice’s friend who’s behind her!
Aren’t you supposed to be on our side!?
