Chapter 25
In summary, Ageha was a tsundere.
A rich girl, not honest, can’t sleep without a teddy bear, and oddly has a surprisingly delicate side. All that aside, the most important thing was her ridiculously huge pride in herself and her abilities.
In other words, it was only natural that she would get completely riled up by what I said.
“Wait, why do I have to assist you? I know you’re strong, but isn’t that a bit too presumptuous?! With my skills, I might not be able to handle Changwon, but I can definitely tie up Lionel! And yet you want me to just sit back and do nothing?!”
Ageha was furiously venting her ire at me more than ever before.
By the time the second team fight ended, she was firing off complaints at me faster than I could reply, making me feel like I’d really messed up.
I had planned to just give a short summary and then explain in detail, but the situation was way too chaotic for that.
…Hmm. I figured I’d mimic what the original protagonist did for a bit. But it clearly wasn’t going well.
In the original, even when the protagonist had some feelings, she managed to express complaints like that. Meanwhile, I had only earned her hatred, so I guess that was expected.
“Fine, just calm down a bit. I messed up, okay?”
I wasn’t particularly keen on it, but I had to soothe her enough for her to listen, so I put my hands together, apologized, and tried to calm her down.
“Is this something you can just brush off with an apology?!”
“…Then should I just leave?”
When that didn’t work, I wiped the smile off my face and said something to provoke her into replying.
She hated losing just as much as being ignored.
Of course, hating to lose didn’t mean being foolish enough to get involved in a fight they couldn’t win.
After seeing Fukukin collapse in an instant, she didn’t dare challenge me any further.
“Aren’t we supposed to win?”
After saying that, Ageha seemed to agree with it but was pouting as if she felt regret.
“Well then, I’ll take that as an agreement. It’s not that you’re useless; it’s just that the backline is the place where you can fully exert your abilities.”
Only then could I explain things in detail.
I informed her how Changwon and Morgan would play out and shared my strategy to deal with them.
“Hold on. How do you know that…? Don’t tell me you predicted their numbers…”
Ah, that’s why she looked so shocked.
I tapped my finger on my ear and said, “I overheard. Whether you wanted to or not, it was impossible for me not to hear.”
“That’s cheating…!”
“Cheating, you say? Seems like you’ve got the luxury to worry about such things. And be careful; that’s racial discrimination!”
Ageha looked at me in shock at that statement, then panicked and apologized.
“…But please let me come with you. My abilities could definitely be of help.”
Still clinging to her last shred of pride, she suggested accompanying us rather than doing nothing but twiddling her thumbs in the back.
“Fine. But I can’t promise you’ll have time to identify friend or foe, so don’t blame me if you get caught up in it.”
I figured mentioning not to hinder me would probably set her off again, so I said something more agreeable.
“Hmph! This time, I will show you that I’m totally capable of handling things without any worries!”
But it looked like Ageha was fired up in a different way.
If she’s enthusiastic, I guess it’s not necessary to stop her.
After the third team fight ended, while Im Changwon and Morgan prepared inside the building, we were circling around the building checking out the locations of ventilation ducts.
“There’s one more here, Ageha.”
“Got it! Winter’s chill, freeze!”
When she chanted her spell, ice formed instantly.
“Really… This will work, right?”
“It won’t have a huge effect, but sometimes, a single piece of paper can determine the outcome.”
After saying that, she seemed to have no further comments, just chanting her spell while continuing to block any exit for the air.
“By the way… Magic. Is there really a limit to it?”
Not saying anything at all felt awkward, so I asked about her capabilities and the limitations of her magic.
In the novel, it wasn’t mentioned specifically, so I was personally curious.
“Yes. First, I have to chant a spell, understand the principles of the spell, and even though there are many magic users, each has a different spell, so one has to explore the spell on their own…”
“Magic isn’t as conveniently magical as one might think.”
“Was that a pun you just made?”
Ageha stopped freezing and looked at me as if to confirm if I was being serious.
“Just a thought.”
“I see…”
Just when I thought I had frozen everything, Justitia cried out, “It begins now!”
As I entered the building alongside her, I took off my tracksuit top.
I then mixed the nepetalactone I had synthesized in advance with tiny droplets and sprayed it.
“Ageha, I’m counting on you.”
I would have normally approached her closely to spray it, but since Ageha was with me, this method was possible.
“Understood! Fierce wind, blow!”
As she chanted, the wind stirred up from behind and blew the mist down the hall.
As Morgan would definitely be roaming the first floor, he wouldn’t be able to avoid that.
If you’re wondering what I just sprayed, it contained narcotic ingredients for cats found in catnip.
It was definitely what makes cats roll around and lose their minds.
The weakness of Lionel was, simply put, his own ability.
His ability was the Shape-Shift Ability known as “Lion.”
With physical traits, strength, and speed of a lion, it was quite the impressive ability.
But in the end, a lion is just a big cat.
So I was using the fact that cats can’t resist catnip to my advantage.
The reason I wouldn’t be affected—well, it was because I was breaking it down as soon as I inhaled it.
As I sprinkled the catnip ingredient on the first floor, I soon heard someone approaching our way.
With drool dripping down and glazed eyes, it was Morgan, approaching us in a daze.
“Hehehe… the sparrow, it flies… there are two mountains…”
He seemed utterly lost in the sauce, unable to even put up a fight, instead reaching out to touch us like an easy target.
Guess the effects were a bit too strong.
Not wanting to be touched, I grabbed one of his hands and threw him down with all my strength to subdue him.
“Tie him up, will you?”
“This really works… Ah. Oh, fateful noose, bind this fool!”
While he grunted in agony and continued to ramble on, I pushed him to a corner of the corridor and headed up to the second floor.
This was where the real showcase would begin.
Im Changwon was truly on another level.
“If you’re going to fall, now’s your last chance.”
“Am I afraid? Even if a bear appears, facing it head-on is our Toojoo family motto. I won’t run away!”
That’s not a bear; it’s a dump truck.
But if that’s what he wanted to do, who was I to stop him?
The more actors to grab attention, the better.
Chasing the sound, we headed to the room where Im Changwon was, and he greeted us.
Standing right next to the hostage.
“So, we meet again. I wished to meet in a quieter, more cultured setting.”
“What’s this? Almost missed ya! I was hoping we’d never see each other again.”
“Is that so? Then I’ll just have to find you personally.”
“What a bothersome remark!”
After fully enhancing my body, I unleashed a smoke screen and charged towards him.
However, it seemed he had read my moves beforehand, as he used telekinesis to snatch me in midair and launch me toward Ageha.
“Kyaah?!”
Ageha managed to dodge at the last moment but still wasn’t much help.
Furthermore, he must have had telekinesis surrounding him like a barrier. I saw the mist disperse before it even reached him, confirming it.
“Heavenly lightning, descend… Kyaaaaaah!”
Ageha seemed to have noticed the barrier and attempted to fry Changwon with lightning that wouldn’t be stopped.
But before she could finish her chant, with a single gesture from Changwon, she flew directly toward me.
Caught by Ageha, I was then smashed against the ceiling, walls, and floor as he gestured again.
“I don’t understand. How did you defeat the boss monster with such a ridiculous ability? Was it such a low-level dungeon?”
He was oozing confidence.
Ageha was collapsed on the ground, unable to rise.
It wasn’t so much that she was injured, but rather her spirit was broken.
Seeing her apologize to me said it all.
“Block the door.”
“I’d like an answer first.”
Ageha quietly chanted a spell and used ice to seal the door.
“An answer, you say.”
Taking a deep breath, I slowly began to change the air in the room.
Absorbing all the oxygen and expelling the rest.
“Shall I let you know?”
“Please do.”
“I don’t get the level of the dungeon, but I can definitely gauge yours, dumbass.”
Filled the room with nitrogen.
Colorless. Odorless. Tasteless.
Indiscernible through any sensory organ.
By the time his body realized it was running low on oxygen, it would already be too late.
After hearing my words, Changwon raised his hand, seething with displeasure and calling me a low-class woman.
His posture indicated he might try to use telekinesis to attack.
But nothing like that ever happened.
Because Im Changwon’s focus had slipped.
If that guy were even a bit less arrogant, he would have broken down the door or the wall to get some oxygen earlier.
“I already told you; I understand your level.”
While his abilities were strong, they required a high level of concentration.
In a situation where there was no oxygen, it was practically impossible to maintain his focus, much less use his powers.
This was the original plan. To fill the room with nitrogen and suffocate him.
I didn’t even need Ageha for this.
I could just spew out nitrogen freely.
Though, thanks to Ageha, everything went a bit more smoothly, so maybe I should thank her.
“How… how are you…?”
After a roundhouse kick to Im Changwon’s solar plexus, I kindly answered him.
“I just create it inside my body. Ah, you probably can’t hear that, you low-level fool.”
After kicking down the ice door, I covered Ageha’s mouth and nose with my hand to supply her oxygen while carrying her in a princess carry outside the building.
“Thanks for your hard work, Ageha.”
Though it probably wouldn’t reach her, I threw out a cheesy line.
