I Became the Wrong Race

chapter 15

15 – Blood Bag (4)

After passing through a long tunnel, the first sentence that came to mind was Snow Country.

When I opened my eyes, everything I saw was pure white.

And indeed, to be fair, my consciousness was completely locked as if I had passed through a long tunnel.

Where am I?

I definitely….

When I rewinded my memories like a video, several scenes came to mind.

One of his arms was completely blown off and regenerated, and he escaped thanks to the Star Blade leader appearing and burning the Blood Knight.

Holding Isla in front of him, he stole the Blood Knight’s armor.

After passing through the long tunnel-like exit, she stepped into the blowing snowstorm.

The problem came after that. My memory wasn’t clear. I didn’t know what was going on and why I was doing this.

Clearly my body is that of a monster. I didn’t know why this mighty body collapsed.

Bleeding was more than a normal condition for the homunculus, and its overflowing regenerative power would always keep the body in 100% condition.

I lay down like this. Shaking her dazed head, I suddenly remembered Isla.

“Ah… !”

“It’s not there.”

As I quickly raised my upper body, thinking that I might have been crushed, I heard a voice. I’m slowly getting used to the beautiful voice.

Only then did I see Isla.

A woman resting her chin and staring into her campfire, both of her ears hanging down.

Instead of the cloak she usually wore, she was wearing pure white armor made of leather.

“Shoot quickly before you fall! And I got out.”

She listened to those words in a daze, and as she raised her body, her cloak fell down behind her. It’s not mine, it’s Isla’s.

I removed the white snow leopard-print cloak from my body and looked around.

A snowstorm was raging. The whole world was completely white and I could not see clearly.

I didn’t realize how much time had passed. As I slowly rolled my eyes, a translucent window appeared as if answering my will.

[Play time: 8,824 hours]

Is it 7 hours? It’s not that bad. Unless there is someone chasing you.

I looked at Isla, shaking off the snow that covered my shoulders, head, and entire body.

“How…” .”

“I suddenly collapsed.”

Even before my question was finished, Isla answered as if she had read her mind. I closed my mouth.

Me?

Even though it looks like this, my body is a monster.

A health of 20 was five levels higher than that of an average human, and was at a level with which there was no comparable life form in nature.

The concept of endurance was at a level that did not exist. Isn’t it amazing how much stamina remains even after walking and running all day?

So it was difficult for me to accept the fact that I had collapsed.

Couldn’t the attack from the Blood Knight be the cause?

I couldn’t properly block his attack, and it seemed like the blood knight’s ability was the reason my attack didn’t work properly.

The ability to probably manipulate the blood flow or exert some control over the muscles.

It suddenly occurred to me that I may have fainted due to the repercussions.

And it didn’t sound like such an unlikely story.

“You didn’t rest at all, right?”

But Isla seemed to think differently than me.

“You didn’t sleep, you didn’t rest, you were constantly awake.”

“… No, just like that….”

As I tried to laugh at my bewilderment, Isla revealed a rare ray of emotion above her expressionless expression.

It was close to anger. She also seemed annoyed.

It was clear that she was displeased with me.

Isla tapped her bottom with her tail as she warmed her fire inside her bulbous snow pit.

“I don’t rest properly, but I’m exhausted from overworking myself. “That’s why I fainted.”

Isla looked quite confident. She didn’t know much about the existence of a hot-blooded person, so she thought she was like that.

“You don’t know how to save yourself, do you?”

On the other hand, she vaguely thought that might be the case.

She couldn’t sleep or rest properly. Although her brain was complaining about rest, she thought it was just a mental thing.

It was partly because I didn’t know exactly how homunculi lived, but it was also true that I felt some pressure.

I was sure that if I had a sister in this world, I would need help. Every time I hesitated, I thought that my sister might be in trouble.

Even if that wasn’t the case, I didn’t think there was any need to waste time here. Quickly and without hesitation. I just thought that I had to put into action what I had to do.

Is that stressful and eroding my mental strength?

I looked at Isla with her arms crossed with an expression of displeasure on her face, then brushed her eyes off her shoulders with her hands.

Isla. A snow leopard beast and hunter from the New World. I didn’t know this woman very well.

She was acting like she was. She looked like she could also be referred to as a colleague. Unless I’m the only one who thinks that way.

But when I remembered how much time we had actually spent together, I felt a little doubtful.

We were together for only 29 hours. It was someone I had only known for a day.

It was a short time for any kind of intimacy to be formed.

Still, she was worried about me.

The reason was simple.

If I die, she will have to deal with the Blood Knight and the Starblade Captain and powerful Star Contractor alone.

She has no regenerative power, so she can die from a single fire, and it is a miracle that she can even take a single attack from a blood knight.

My performance was a factor that had a huge impact on her survival. What if I did this during a fight?

Just thinking about it sends shivers down my spine. I realized my mistake and nodded.

As a great top laner and a shameless person, I apologized.

“I’m sorry.”

Isla’s eyes widen for a moment. Maybe it’s a positive sign. I guessed it because the expression wasn’t noticeable.

“You are right. “If I were to fail like this, it would be difficult for you to survive, so you would have no choice but to be sensitive.”

“… Huh?”

“I’ll be careful.”

Isla looked confused, but she thought it was because I didn’t know how to apologize honestly.

And while I was talking, I added.

“And I’m saying this because I don’t think I’ll have time to say anything else except now.”

Isla’s eyes followed me and I made eye contact with hers.

“You can just disperse.”

Her tail stopped and Isla’s already stiff expression hardened even more.

The emotions that arose were from absurdity to irritation, but I didn’t care.

“The blood knight is chasing me. “It’s a monster upon monsters that even this body can’t handle.”

I don’t know if that was all, but there wasn’t just one person chasing him.

“There are also stellar contractors. “If the conditions are met, he is a true contractor who can take on the army on his own.”

In this world, there were people called transcendents. A divine being that sticks its head in from outside the universe and watches, selects attractive and inspirational people, and gives them strength.

However, it is not a god. Something divine or not-god that doesn’t care about order or balance at all.

One of them was a contractor who received the power of a ‘star’.

“I heard that during the Imperial Civil War, he was exiled because he belonged to the Jujeon faction… I didn’t know such a big guy would be in a place like this. “If we fight, even if it’s me, there’s no chance of winning.”

There were two monsters. They were questionable beings who wondered if it would be possible for them to co-exterminate even if they fought against each other.

“So you can run away. “I’m the one the Blood Knight is after anyway, and with your skills, Isla, you should be able to sneak out of here.”

The reason she allowed the chase several times was because I, who was not good at stealth, was being chased by a blood knight.

It would be strange to miss the monster-like knight who appears to be dealing with blood itself, chasing their blood bags.

“There is no reason for you to die together.”

It was true that I was caught up in the cannibal attack. The fact that the Blood Knight was also involved was the same, but the difference was clear.

The cannibals were somehow able to be resolved.

Even if the opponent is a powerful wizard and has my own people.

I was an old man and knew the other person well.

It doesn’t work that way this time. There was a mixture of enemies I didn’t know well and enemies I couldn’t face under my current conditions.

Even I cannot guarantee complete victory. This means that it is not surprising if anyone dies.

The only thing I was responsible for for the rest of my life was my life.

The fact that someone else’s life depended on my decision was extremely heavy.

It was burdensome and, to be honest, inconvenient.

Isla will definitely be helpful, but in this situation, I felt more worried than helpful.

Even if everything goes well, it was right to prepare for the worst.

Isla rejected my complicated feelings with frowning eyes.

“I don’t like it.”

“Isla.”

“I said I don’t like it.”

The tail stabs my face sharply again. There was no enemy so I didn’t avoid it, but Isla saw it differently.

“What are you going to do alone without me?”

“That’s what I’m saying. “If we go together, we’ll all die together.”

“I don’t like it anyway.”

I wasn’t even given a proper reason. Isla stubbornly refused, as if the cool demeanor she had shown so far was a lie.

I was ready to turn around.

I couldn’t just rush in and say, ‘Okay, let’s try everything.’

I had work to do. Actually there were quite a few.

I also have to find my sister, and if she… If he really died.

I had to take revenge. I had to find a way to go back, and if I couldn’t, I had to act as the main character.

It was unclear whether there was a main character in this world. Meanwhile, we could not allow darkness to roam freely in the world.

For all of that, I had to stay alive.

I had to live tenaciously in order to increase my chances of gathering strength and gaining experience.

So it wasn’t that I was going to die now. I just felt like I wouldn’t be able to survive properly if Isla was with me because I would worry about myself.

If I was fine and Isla was not fine, I might have put Isla’s life first without even realizing it and ended up falling.

It seemed like we had only known each other for a little more than a day.

“Why on earth do you hate it?”

So I desperately tried to persuade him.

“Then it’s not fun.”

Isla silenced me with an incomprehensible reason.

“I need you too.”

What followed sounded genuine.

Although it was a calm answer, his true intentions were evident.

At the same time, it was an answer that revealed that I understood humans to some extent.

It was clear to me that I wouldn’t be able to say no for practical reasons.

So, I tried several times to come up with an excuse, excuse, or reason, but gave up.

Anyway, the words that followed would have been enough.

“And there is no time for that.”

Before I could understand what was being said, my superior body caught the sound between the noises.

Through the roar of the blowing snowstorm, I felt a glimpse of humanity.

A very small presence followed by a crackling sound.

The heavy weight of the bridge followed the sound, and there was a slight heat that could be felt at first glance.

Only then did I realize that the place I was standing was a forest.

The two are walking in search of us through strong gusts of wind and snow that not even the forest can block, and are wary of each other.

The blood knight and star contractor I was on the lookout for.

I understood what Isla said. Certainly, there was no time for that. I didn’t give up the thought that Isla could escape on her own.

While the situation was like this, there was no reason to insist on my opinion.

I opened my mouth, assessing the slowly approaching figure.

“Can you take out the armor from inside the cloak?”

Isla then lifted her upright tail and moved it to her left and right.
