I Don’t Want To Court Death!

Chapter 9: Such Hell, But For What?

Yang Yang was running away from Morrigan until they met Princess Jasmine.

“What are you two doing here? Morrigan, what’s with you and that broken glass?”

Yang Yang hid behind Princess Jasmine and chuckled to himself. “Your highness, Morrigan is an improper maid. She was here drinking and even chasing me with killing intent. I suggest you punish her.”

“Yang Yang, get your ass here!” Morrigan blushed and raised her hand. However, just when she did, a demonic voice exploded in their ears. The broken glass shattered into dust that drifted away in the wind.

“I am the third Demon King, Blood Bell-Mourn! King Ivory Griffin, get the hell out here and prepare to die!”

The three people rushed into the imperial palace and saw a scene of gore and macabre. Fleshy monsters and bloody demons were eating everyone around the palace.

When they arrived, one of the monsters lunged toward them with its sword-like teeth prepared to bite into all of them at once. However, a streak of lightning from down the hall smited the monster into ashes.

“Princess, let’s go!” A giant hand of magical power reached out and grabbed the princess and two servants. It dragged them away from the royal palace and into an unknown location.

......

Above the royal city and in the sky were two figures that were standing in a dimension that seemed part of the world, but was actually removed from the conflict down below as if the power from these two people were enough to create a separate world in the night, a realm where they were free to unleash their full power.

One was the purple-robed, silver-armored Ivory King. The other was a red-skinned man with two black horns and a black suit of armor that seemed to be twisting and moving, as though it was a functional organ in the body.

The Blood Demon King smirked and took out a giant, black sword made of bone and flesh. It seemed to be made from the same materials as his armor.

The Ivory King took out a spear of ivory. The two looked at each other before becoming blurs to the visible eye. The people in the city would occasionally hear laughter and battle cry above them. Though, no one bothered with the sounds above as they try to fight and run away for their lives.

......

In the royal palace, the small group of people were standing above the stairs and looked down on a larger group of people that numbered in the hundreds. The large group were the elites of the military that composed of Wisdom King magi, which made them all generals; the small group were the Heavenly Deva magi. Among the Devas were the War-Justice Minister, Medicine-Health Minister, Science-Technology Minister, Intelligence-Security Minister, high-ranking officials, dukes, and other members of the royal house.

The War-Justice Minster gave a few commands before the generals bowed and left to enact the commands; some of the Devas behind him, the military’s legion commanders, flew out to assist the generals. He turned to the other Devas and began discussing a plan with them.

“The best thing we can do right now is kill off as many of those underworld creatures. This won’t blow over until his majesty defeat or kill the Blood Demon King.”

“Yes, it’s best if the rest of us secure the people first.”

“And the princess?”

“One of the royal guardians already retreated with her and her servants.”

“Good. Proceed as planed and follow Level 5 emergency protocols.”

The Devas talked quickly before flying out to the city and also took actions. Only the elderly, muscular War-Justice Minister and the Medicine-Health Minister remained at the royal palace.

Chief Doctor Stone looked at War-Justice Minister, Generalissimo Steel. “It won’t blow over after that demon king goes away.”

“I know. This attack was way too sudden and reckless. On the day that we had our guard down the most, they struck. Damn it! Over the past few months, the demons’ attack were becoming more relentless. However, for them to bring out a demon king so abruptly is suspicious. Although this is a strike to our reputation, resources, and residents, there shouldn’t be any greater reward to this assault. There’s not even any demon dukes here to rival our Devas.”

“Indeed, this is very strange.” The chief doctor twirled his hair. Off in the distance, a red fog was quickly making its way to the chief doctor.

He took out a glass jar and took in the red fog. Generalissimo Steel looked at the jar. “What fog beast is that?”

“It’s my new Hungry Fog Beast that can absorb almost any organic matter. It went around collecting that red infection and... what the hell?”

They looked at the red fog beast and noticed that the pieces of flesh and drops of blood were forming inside the jar. To their horrors, a tiny infant head was created and began screaming with terror. The two men grunted and a crack appeared on the jar.

“Seal!” Chief Doctor Stone poured in his magical power and created a thousand spell circles that sealed the crack and the jar. The infant head was still crying, but the seals made it impossible for the head to release any sound.

Just then, a mighty presence descended from the sky. It was the Ivory King and, with a wave of his spear, he sent out a blast of magical power that killed off all the underworld creatures. The flesh and blood of the underworld creatures flew into the sky and gathered into a sphere that was contained by countless spell circles.

“Salutations, your majesty!” The generalissimo and chief doctor bowed their heads to the Ivory King. However, when they looked up, ugly expressions appeared on their faces. “Your majesty, this....”

“Don’t worry about it,” The Ivory King said. He was missing his left arm and a large, gaping hole appeared on his right shoulder. “It turns out there were two demon kings. The Blood Demon King lured me out and the other demon king ambushed me. However, I did not recognize the other demon king, meaning that he must be a new demon king.”

“Another Lord-class expert has appeared among the demons!”

“We must contact the other kingdoms!”

“We will, but only after we secure the people first. Chief Doctor Stone, please heal me now.” The King sat down and began meditating while the chief doctor chanted various healing spells. The generalissimo stood beside them to protect them.

As he looked over the ruined city, the generalissimo said to himself, “Such hell, but for what?”
