Chapter 3: Who She?
From the explanation of the maid named Aisya, she learned that the woman who received her soul - however she ended up here when she should have died - was the descendant of a pure-blood witch. However, it was a pity that this woman named Eleonor couldn't use magic.
Even though she was a handicapped witch, all magical devices used throughout the empire had to have Eleonor's approval. Even witches who use magic today would not be able to use their magic without Eleonor's approval. This meant that no witch or magical device would harm Eleonor.
"So I have power in the police because of that?" She muttered.
Aisya nodded excitedly. "You can even replace the power of the king. It's just that you didn't care about power until now."
Power was one of the ways to destruction. She definitely did not want to bring that into her life. Indiscriminate kindness would only backfire.
She could remember how that kindness had killed her.
"Thank you, Aisya! You can come out now!" She smiled.
Aisya looked surprised. She lowered her head and walked back to the door, then turned to go out. The door closed again.
She left her comfortable bed and went back to the mirror. She looked at the image of Eleonora in the mirror.
"I am Eleonora now! No matter how much I denied it. I am Eleonora!" she said to herself.
She closed her eyes and said the same words over and over again in her mind. But this conviction only made her cry. She was going to get married. She would have the family she wanted so much.
Eleonora cried for a long time, then quickly wiped away her tears. She filled her lungs with air and stared at the image of Eleonora that was her present self.
Night had fallen outside Eleonora's room. The lights came on automatically as darkness fell outside. She was surprised to realize that she looked very bad.
"Lady, are you awake? The Prince says he wants to see you! I'll help you get ready!"
"Is that Aisya?" asked Eleonora.
"Yes, Lady, I've come with Bell and Bianca!"
"Yes, come in!" Having accepted her current self as Eleonora, she also had to let the maids and servants treat her properly.
The door opened, except for Aisya there were two other maids looking down at the floor with toiletries. The two of them except Aisya went to prepare bath water in the bathroom connected to the room. Aisya was in charge of helping Eleonora undress.
"Are you comfortable, lady?" The maid who was preparing the bath water asked.
"Yes, it's very comfortable!" Eleonora admitted that the service she received was excellent. This bath water even had essential oils added to it. If only the maids hadn't urged her to get out of the tub faster.
She was beautifully wrapped in a silk bathrobe. Then her hair was dried with another towel. Once that was done, the long, long work of dressing Eleonora began.
By the time she finished putting on the suffocating gown, she was so sleepy that she longed for bed more than the prince who said he wanted to come.
"Can't I just meet the prince tomorrow morning?" Eleonora complained openly.
How could the prince, who was supposedly the fiancé of the girl whose body Cristy was now wearing, be so tactless? Hadn't his fiancée just come out of a coma?
"You can't say that, lady! The Prince is very worried about you!" said her maid, who served her well.
Eleonora sat down on the only sofa near the balcony. Her bed was in the middle of the room, facing the closet. The door to Eleonora's room was wide open and the man who had met her when she woke up earlier in the day entered again. He laughed when he saw Eleonora.
"I'm so happy, Eleonora! Do you know that I was so worried about you? How could someone be so mean to you?" The man who was Eleonora's fiancé made a face like someone who was eager to return. Even she, who didn't know anyone in this place, could tell that the man who had fallen down so dramatically in front of her was not sincere at all.
Two women came in with Eleonora's fiancé. A beautiful and awkward young girl. Then a woman who was about 45 years old.
"Why does she look like an idiot?" Suddenly, the old woman who came in with Eleonora's fiancé began to speak. Her look was so condescending, even though she smiled incessantly. It must be another way to mentally put the other person down.
"Mother, you can't say that. Didn't you hear what the doctor told us earlier? It's possible that Eleonora is still confused about many things right now. Her memory is distorted!"
Thank you doctor, Elonora really meant it. The next time she met him, she hugged him and thanked him again and again.
"I don't remember all of you. So who?" Elonora crossed her legs gracefully.
The old woman in front of her was surprised to see her. The awkward looking girl had the same expression.
"I am Gerome, Eleonora. I'm your fiancé. She is my mother!" The man named Gerome introduced himself as well as the haughty old woman who kept looking at her with disdain.
"Then who's that girl over there? Is she your sister?" asked Eleonora.
But these two people did not look alike at all. She had more or less suddenly guessed who the third person in Eleonora's room was.
"She is...!"
"I am a sick girl. How can someone I don't know come into my room? What if she's the perpetrator of my attempted murder?" A stranger, who wasn't even a member of the family and who had obviously been brought in because Eleonora was easily tricked, suddenly appeared.
"No! She couldn't have done it! She couldn't even hurt an ant!" Gerome said confidently.
"Is that so? But I don't think so. Can she come out? I don't want to see her."
The girl, whom Eleonora probably knew, looked like she was about to cry. She wept and said that it was impossible to commit a crime. And it seemed that Gerome, who was Eleonora's fiancé, would defend her.
"You can go out with her! Your coming doesn't make me feel better!" Eleonora boldly chased the man away. The old woman, who had seemed so arrogant earlier, immediately took offense.
She raised her chin and boldly pointed at Eleonora. "How can you be so arrogant towards the Crown Prince? He is also your fiance!" she shouted with all her might.
"You are right. He's my fiancé who brought another girl, who looked more like a prostitute than a good girl, into his sick fiancée's room!" Eleonora uttered a sentence that was quite beautiful to her own ears. It seemed that the word "slut" was sensitive to these people. The two women there turned red in the face.
"I am not! You need to take back your words, lady!"
What did the woman who came with someone else's fiancé want? An apology.
"Then don't appear in front of me again! Get out!" Eleonora was confident that she had the power to drive away the three people who were clearly not related to her.
