Chapter 23: A Romantic Dinner
Later that evening, Sean arrived home to find Odelia greeting him as usual at the door.
"You're not ready for dinner yet?" he asked.
"I just finished showering, I'll be ready soon. You'll definitely go shower first, right?"
He nodded. "Yes, I'll take a shower and change my clothes. Then I'll go to my room first."
She looked at Sean who went to his own room to clean up, Odelia also went to her room to dress up.
After 30 minutes, they were both finally ready to leave and left Megan at home alone.
"Have fun you two, don't think about anything else and enjoy your time!" she said as she waved goodbye.
Sean's car drove off to the restaurant he had planned to take Odelia to for dinner. A five-star restaurant owned by one of his acquaintances. When they arrived at the place, the waiter immediately recognized who he was and escorted her to the table he had reserved.
Odelia looked at the menu book available on the table, seeing that there were several menus that caught her eye.
"What would you like to order, Odelia?" asked Sean.
"I think it's the beef wellington, I just want that," she replied.
"Then I'll have the beef wellington too," s
he said and the waiter took down their orders.
She looked around, the decor of the restaurant looked expensive and luxurious. Moreover, the beautiful chandeliers, as well as the beautifully painted ceiling of the restaurant, added to the aesthetics of the place.
"This restaurant is very beautiful, especially the music from the piano and violin played simultaneously. It's really wonderful," praised Odelia who was happy to come to the place.
"I'm glad you like it. This restaurant is indeed my favorite for dinner. Sometimes I come with Megan or my parents when they were alive," Sean explained.
Hearing about her parents, Odelia was reminded of the story Megan had told her before Sean went home.
'His late parents? Was it at the same time... He's also remembering his ex-fiancé?' Odelia thought.
"I myself didn't expect this restaurant to last this long and always be crowded."
"No wonder the service and the place are good," she said.
Sean's eyes looked at Odelia who was looking around. He continued to stare at her smiling face, as if he was trying to understand the heart and mind of the woman before him.
The woman who became the mother of his child and the woman who could captivate him again after all this time, with just one small note that Odelia had left at the hotel the morning after they made love.
"About the banquet yesterday, I'm sure you're curious about how I got to know that old woman," said Sean, talking about Samantha.
Odelia nodded her head. "Yes, I'm very curious about that. Did Osbert have a relationship with Percy?" she asked.
He nodded his head and began to tell her about the relationship between the two families and what led to their eventual split. All because of a fight over an inheritance that made Sean sometimes think that money was a terrible thing.
"Because of money, everyone becomes like everyone else and their true nature is revealed."
"You're right, money can be terrible. Although money isn't everything, but everything needs money. It makes one's life so much easier. I didn't know that's what happened between your family and Percy," said Odelia.
"Yes, many unexpected things can happen around you, Odelia. That's why you have to be able to prepare yourself for every possibility that will happen, no matter how difficult the reality you have to accept, you have to be ready for it, do you understand?"
She nodded her head. What Sean said was true, many unexpected things could happen. She had to be prepared for the worst that could happen afterwards. Odelia smiled because she felt that she could learn many things from Sean.
Sean's mature and calm nature allowed her to learn many new things and feel so safe around him.
Their food finally arrived and they both tucked into their dinner. Odelia ate her beef wellington served with mashed potato. She was in a very good mood, enjoying the delicious food that went into her mouth.
Sean, who was watching how his wife was enjoying her meal, made him smile. "Do you like it?"
"Hmn? Yes, I really liked it. The food has such a high flavor image, it's worthy of such a good restaurant," she explained.
When she was about to reach for her glass, Sean snatched it away first before Odelia unconsciously drank it.
"It's wine, you're pregnant and it's not good to drink it," he warned her.
"Oh sorry, I didn't realize that. I think I should ask for some water."
"I'll get it." Sean raised his hand, called the nearby waiter and asked for a glass of water for his wife.
The waiter immediately brought a glass of water and Odelia was finally able to drink it. "Thank you."
They went back to enjoying their dinner while talking about the gender of their baby. Sean asked if Odelia wanted to celebrate the gender reveal party, she could invite her friends to come.
However, Odelia refused because she didn't have many close friends in Zondalia and she was only friends with Rihanna.
"Rihanna is my only friend so far, so I don't think there's any need for a party like that," she replied.
"No problem, let's just invite your friend to come over. You can chat with her and Megan too. I'm sure Megan will be happy to make a new friend," Sean said and sipped his wine.
Hearing that suggestion, Odelia thought it was a good idea. Invite Rihanna to come over and they could celebrate with the four of them. Sean said that he would send someone to pick Rihanna up by car later.
"Alright, I'll tell her this. Thank you, Sean," Odelia said with a smile.
Sean took Odelia's hand and rubbed the back of her hand.
"I always want to make you happy. I want there to be no boundaries between us and for you to no longer feel awkward with me. I know this marriage is just a contract, but we can change it someday with real holy vows."
Odelia's eyes looked into her husband's gray eyes, she really wanted to do it.
He wanted to be the new hope for her future and she also wanted to be the new hope for him, after he had lost it after the departure of his former fiancé for good.
"Sean... I want to be a new hope for you too. Are you willing to wait for me until I'm really ready?" she asked with confidence, gently grasping his hand.
He looked into her eyes, searching for lies and pity in hers but he couldn't find any.
What he saw was seriousness, great desire and sincerity in Odelia's eyes.
A smile appeared on his face and he nodded.
"I'll keep waiting."
