Chapter 3: Looking For A New Place
Odelia gasped in shock when she saw the folder of documents which turned out to be divorce papers. She had no idea that her mother-in-law and sister-in-law wanted her to divorce Vincent.
"What is the meaning of this, Mother? Why do you want me to sign this?"
"Of course to get a divorce from my son! He shouldn't have married you in the first place, and you better sign the papers and get out of this house!" Samantha ordered.
"That's right! You are no longer needed now that Monica is Vincent's new wife," Alice said as she touched the arm of the beautiful woman who had been with them.
The woman stood up from the sofa, then walked over to Odelia and extended her hand. "My name is Monica Deborah, I am Vincent's ex lover and his first love. And now I want to take him back," the woman said.
She was surprised to hear that. 'Vin's first love? So... She's Monica?'
However, of course Odelia didn't let that happen. She didn't want to give up her husband for another woman, even if that woman was much prettier than her she had sworn and promised that she would always be with Vincent.
This refusal only made Samantha and Alice upset with her. Samantha slapped Odelia across the face and insisted that she sign the letter.
"Hurry up and sign it, or I'll get someone else involved to drag you out of here! I don't want my son to continue being with a barren woman like you!"
Because of the pressure Odelia had been under for years, and there was no one to defend her including Vincent who was currently out of the area. She was forced to sign the letter.
Although in the end she had to let Vincent go, Odelia also thought that what her mother-in-law said was true. Vincent was better off with a woman who could give him a child.
"Okay mother, if that's what you want," she replied with tears in her eyes. "I will sign the divorce papers, as you wish."
"That's what you should have done from the start! After this pack your things and leave this house! Don't you dare come back to this house again, you're no longer part of this family!" Alice grabbed the signed document and pushed Odelia away.
The ginger-haired woman finally went to her room to put her things into a suitcase. She didn't really want to leave the house, let alone get divorced while Vincent was away on a business trip.
"I'd better call Vin," she murmured, picking up her cell phone and intending to call her husband.
But suddenly Alice grabbed her cell phone and saw that Odelia intended to complain about this to Vincent.
"How dare you do that! You want us to get into trouble, huh?!" she snapped, opening Odelia's cell phone and deleting Vincent's number and messages from it.
"Give it back, Alice! Give me back my phone!" Odelia tried to grab it but the young woman kept pushing her until she managed to erase any trace of Vincent's number.
"You want your cell phone?" She then slammed Odelia's cell phone to the floor.
CRASH!
"Ahhh! My cell phone-" Odelia quickly picked up her cell phone but unfortunately it was no longer on.
"Heh, Don't you dare report this to him!" Alice then left the room, leaving Odelia crying as she looked at her cell phone full of memories.
But she also realized that Vincent had never dared to defend her before his mother. Every time he tried to do so, his mother would scold him even more.
"I think this is the right decision. I've also been very depressed by everything they've said to me. I know I can't give a child to this family, but at least I can leave with my dignity," she said, trying to remain strong.
Odelia grabbed her suitcase, and left the house without any of the jewelry Vincent had given her. Even her wedding ring was left on her dressing table.
Only the necklace he had given her on their anniversary last year was still around her neck.
Her departure was witnessed by Samantha, Alice and Monica. They smiled with satisfaction at Odelia who left with her suitcase and bag.
"Well done, the pest has finally left this house. Now we just need to talk about your marriage to Vincent later," said Vincent's mother, excitedly because from the start she preferred Monica to Odelia.
"Take it easy auntie, my marriage to Vincent will go well because I'm sure deep down he still loves me," said Monica.
On the road Odelia felt confused about where to go, her parents' house was very far away. She also couldn't go home and say that she was divorcing Vincent because she couldn't give him a child.
She didn't want to make her parents angry and it would create a ruckus between her family and Vincent's family.
She then went to the park to sit for a while and think about what she would do in the future. She also feel so hungry. Odelia couldn't stay in the area because Vincent would definitely find her.
"Where should I go now? Should I stay at the hotel for a while?" she muttered while trying to think of a way to find a new place to live.
As it was getting late, Odelia decided to take a taxi to a hotel in the center of the city. She checked into the hotel, and got the key card to room number 625.
"The room is on the sixth floor, miss. Room 625 is on the left after you exit the elevator," the receptionist explained so that Odelia wouldn't feel confused.
"Sure, thank you very much." Odelia carried her key card and luggage to the sixth floor.
It was rare for her to check in alone at a hotel, during her four years of marriage she had always had Vincent with her. Now she had to find her own room.
The elevator doors opened and Odelia exited the elevator turning to the left, she checked her watch which turned out to be 9.40pm.
She then walked through the hotel hallway looking for her room. As she was walking, she saw a man wearing a full suit sitting alone in the hotel hallway.
'What is he doing here? Why is he sitting in the hotel hallway like this?' Odelia thought at the time then she approached the man a little.
From there she found out that the man was drunk, and he was unconscious. Odelia felt sorry for the man, because it reminded her of her former boss who used to get drunk a lot when she was still working as a secretary.
"Sir, are you alright? Where is your hotel room, I might be able to help you get there," Odelia asked the man.
But because he was too drunk, the man didn't answer at all. Odelia intended to leave him and let the other hotel staff take care of him later. But she couldn't bear to see someone who needed help in front of her.
She reached into the man's shirt pocket, and found the key card to room number 630. "Oh this is five rooms from mine," she muttered.
Feeling that their rooms were only five numbers apart, Odelia lifted the man's arm onto her shoulder and helped him to get to his room. Luckily, the man could still move his legs and followed the direction Odelia was taking him.
The woman looked at the numbers posted around the hallway and found his room. "Okay this is my room number 625, meaning 630 is on the other side near here."
And sure enough it was very close to her room. She used the stranger's card and went inside. She helped the man until he lay down on his bed.
"Have a good rest sir, next time don't drink too much. It's not good for your health," the woman said and turned to leave.
But just as she was about to leave the room, the man suddenly caught her wrist and flipped her over pushing her towards the door and kissing her.
'Wh-what is this?!'
