I have an Apocalypse City

Chapter 496 - 496: Legendary Creatures

Chapter 496: Chapter 496: Legendary Creatures

These several black tentacles shot towards Song Jian, attempting to confine him. The Abyssal Power harbored a greed that wished to transform all entities into Abyss creatures. As soon as it perceived the presence of other organisms, it would adopt this coercive means to make others succumb;

Boom~

Suddenly, a raging flame erupted on the surface of Song Jian’s body. The black flame was far darker than the surrounding lake, immediately causing the tendrils that were reaching out at him to stiffen, hanging in the air in a flustered manner.

Song Jian summoned the Book of the Abyss. A rich Abyssal aura emanated from it. The few black tentacles originally stretched out towards Song Jian, suddenly softened down and lay on the ground as if subjects beholding their monarch.

The black tentacles began to disintegrate, turning back into liquid, and slowly flowed back into the lake.

Upon witnessing this scene, Song Jian finally breathed a sigh of relief. As his thoughts stirred, the burning black flame on his body instantly transformed into a suit of armor, protecting him all around.

Song Jian slowly stepped towards the black lake. The moment he stepped on the lake’s surface, a sudden feeling of hardness was felt underneath his feet, as if walking on solid ground.

A thought arose in Song Jian’s heart, and he moved forward. Indeed, with every step he took, the churning water of the lake quieted down, turning into a solid-like entity, supporting Song Jian to walk forward;

Soon, Song Jian arrived on the island in the middle of the lake.

Calling it an island is a bit far-fetched; in reality, it’s a massive rock devoid of any vegetation. The jet-black rock was indistinguishable from the black lake water.

Only after Song Jian stepped onto the island did he realize that the massive golden ant in front of him was even larger than the one he had seen on the lake’s edge.

This giant golden ant was more than ten meters tall, comparable to a tower. Its entire exoskeleton was streamlined, exhibiting a strange sense of beauty. The hard shell shimmered with a golden luster, akin to an armor.

Underneath the hard golden shell, Song Jian could sense chunks of flesh filled with power releasing a vigorous life force, conveying a sense of strength and vitality.

A series of question marks hovered over the head of this giant golden ant, faintly yellow in color, indicating that this is a neutral-type monster;

Thick black chains were wound around every joint of this giant golden ant. These Abyssal Chains had merged with the small black rock island beneath its feet, making it impossible for it to break free;

As soon as Song Jian set foot on the island, the giant golden ant seemingly sensed his presence. It abruptly opened its eyes and stared at Song Jian.

The eyes of this giant golden ant were like massive flawless jade blocks, emitting a dark green radiance.

“Human, I can sense that your soul has not been corrupted by the Abyssal Power. Why are you here?” The voice of the giant golden ant resounded in Song Jian’s mind. The voice was deep and husky, calm, unencumbered by the shackles of imprisonment;

“I am just an adventurer who stumbled upon this place…” Song Jian stared into the eyes of the giant golden ant as he spoke. The enormous monster before him was the second-largest creature he had ever encountered in this game, surpassed only by a gigantic skeleton towering over a hundred meters high.

In this game, a monster’s power was often proportional to its size. The larger the monster, the stronger it was.

Although this golden ant was tightly bound by the black Abyssal Chains, Song Jian could still sense the formidable vitality within it.

The closer he got to the giant golden ant, the stronger this feeling became. Song Jian even had the illusion that if this giant golden ant wished, it could escape the shackles of the Abyssal Chains at any moment.

“Adventurer…” The giant golden ant fixated on Song Jian, his voice reverberated in Song Jian’s mind, “You carry the scent of my spawn, uncorrupted by the Abyssal Power. Although I am restrained here, I can still sense their existence.”

An idea came to Song Jian’s mind. The ant the golden ant mentioned must refer to his enslaved Ant King. With a slave contract in place, Song Jian naturally bore a trace of the Ant King’s scent.

“I have a Golden Ant King as a battle partner. We have fought together, but it is currently on the brink of evolution, so it is not with me at the moment,” said Song Jian.

He did not disclose that he had a young Golden Ant King as a slave to the colossal golden ant. If the creature learned of it, the giant golden ant would probably, in its fury, struggle free of its shackles and kill him immediately.

“You are fortunate, so is my spawn that encountered you…” The giant golden ant’s antennae twitched and it pointed at Song Jian. A white light enveloped Song Jian entirely.

” You will have my blessing and I hope it will assist you,” the voice of the giant golden ant echoed in Song Jian’s mind.

System: You have received the blessing of a legendary creature, the Emperor’s Mark. It intimidates all species whose rank is lower than that of a legendary creature;

“Intimidation effect?” Surprised, Song Jian raised an eyebrow. Any creature of lower rank than the massive golden ant here would first response upon meeting Song Jian would be to flee. Even if they were to fight Song Jian, they wouldn’t be able to unleash their full strength. If this effect persists on Song Jian, it would make his future monster hunting and leveling up much easier;

“Thank you, honorable legendary creature, for your blessing. Is there anything I can do to assist you?” Song Jian said as he bowed to the golden ant.

After bestowing the blessing, the giant golden ant showed signs of exhaustion and its antennae drooped. It then said to Song Jian, “This is your due, and moreover, there’s something I need you to do for me.”

A faint smile crawled up Song Jian’s lips. As expected, the giant golden ant blessed him because it had a request. It might have sensed the pure Ant King scent on Song Jian, but it surely needed something from him.

“If there is anything I can do to assist you, please let me know.” Song Jian said.

“Do you see that spatial rift in the sky? That’s a spatial crack leading to the Abyssal Land. I want you to mend it for me.” said the golden ant.

“Mend the spatial rift?” Surprise flashed across Song Jian’s face, he replied, “Given my current strength, I’m afraid I might not be able to complete this task.”

“Don’t worry, as long as you do as I instruct, it will be easy to accomplish this task…” the golden ant assured, “If you can mend this spatial rift, I will present you with a treasure as your task reward.”
