I have an Apocalypse City

Chapter 501 - 501: Backlash

Chapter 501: Chapter 501: Backlash

Song Jian was chanting an Abyssal Spell, casting the Abyss Temptation skill on the corpse of the Abyss Ant King.

Applying Abyss Temptation to an Abyss creature seemed to be highly successful; the Abyss Ant King, which had already reached the surface of the lake, was frozen in place, and its eyes full of fear were glowing like ghost fire.

If the Abyss Temptation was cast for too long, once other creatures sensed the power of temptation, it would surely incite them into rage. No matter how strong their previous enmity was, they would charge directly at Song Jian if not restrained.

Yet the corpse of the Abyss Ant King did not dare to move. It was lying on the surface of the lake, wailing constantly. Even the progenitor of the Golden Ant Clan opened its eyes to look over, the surprise evident in its gaze.

A soft click.

Song Jian had successfully opened the Ant Emperor Treasure Box.

As Song Jian reached into the bottom of the box, he quickly took hold of a cross necklace tinged with a deep hue of purple that had become entangled around his hand, drawing it out. Then, he found a palm-sized pet egg. The egg was entirely snow-white, with faint golden patterns shimmering on its flawless, crystal-clear surface.

Song Jian was overjoyed. He hadn’t expected to acquire a pet egg.

Typically, the chances were high that a pet egg found in the nest of the Golden Ant Clan would also be from the Golden Ant Clan. At the very least, it was an Ant King egg if it was stored inside the Ant Emperor Treasure Box.

Song Jian placed the pet egg in the bag, felt around the treasure box a bit more, and found a gauntlet that resembled an ant leg. At that moment, due to the interruption of Abyss Temptation, the Abyss Ant King’s corpse gave out a mournful roar and struck violently towards the surface of the lake.

With a bang, water sprayed several meters high. Song Jian’s surrounding wall of abyssal aura also collapsed at once; wave after wave of lake water tumbled toward him like a charging mountain.

Grabbing the gauntlet, Song Jian rummaged through the box a couple more times. Finding nothing else, he leaped out of the water.

“How do I use this?” Song Jian shouted to the progenitor of the Golden Ant Clan, clutching the Cross Light Sword Necklace.

“Throw it into the Space-Time Rift!” The progenitor of the Golden Ant Clan had excitement in its eyes. It roared with a voice that echoed fortissimo in Song Jian’s heart.

It was likely the only chance for the Golden Ant King to escape his predicament. If he failed, no matter how strong his power, he would eventually sink under the relentless, drip-by-drip erosion.

With a roar, Song Jian threw the Cross Light Sword Necklace towards the Space-Time Rift.

In mid-air, the necklace suddenly burst into a dazzling purple-red light, transforming into a giant cross sword. The sword blade was aflame with golden fire.

The cross sword struck the Space-Time Rift ruthlessly as if wielded by a person. The golden fire spread, engulfing the entire cavern in its flames.

Boom!

A loud noise reverberated, causing the entire underground cave to shake violently. Debris tumbled from the ceiling, and the black lake, seemingly enraged, raised a series of high tides that pummeled the surroundings.

The corpse of the Abyss Ant King let out an angry roar. Under the illumination of the golden flames, its enormous body began to erode and burn, quickly crumbling into sand-like particles that were blown away, leaving no trace behind.

Song Jian also felt an intense burning sensation. Seeing that bubbles started to form on the surface of his Abyssal Demon Armor, he dismissed it in the blink of an eye. With no trace of abyssal aura remaining on him, the curtain of golden light felt warm on his skin, replacing the searing temperature he had previously felt.

The Space-Time Rift in mid-air disappeared, as did the Cross Light Sword Necklace. They seemed to have destroyed each other, or perhaps, the necklace had filled the rift.

The golden flames still roared in the cave. Black water in the lake started boiling, with towering flames ignited on its surface, seemingly burning down the Abyssal Power within the lake.

With an excited roar, the progenitor of the Golden Ant Clan used its six sturdy legs to lift its mountain-like body.

Crack, Crack, Crack…

One after another, the Abyssal Chains wrapping around the body of the ancestor of the Golden Ant Clan shattered, but at this point, there was no more Abyssal Power to mend these black chains.

In just a short while, the ancestor of the Golden Ant Clan regained its freedom, but upon shattering the chains, it seemed to have exhausted too much strength, collapsing back onto the ground, panting heavily, its visage fatigued.

“Thank you, human warrior, you have saved the Golden Ant Clan. From now on, the Golden Ant Clan will forever be your friend.” The progenitor of the Golden Ant Clan looked at Song Jian and spoke gratefully.

System: You have been recognized by the progenitor of the Golden Ant Clan. Your relationship with the Golden Ant Clan has been elevated to reverence!

Song Jian was taken aback, a smile spreading across his face. “This relationship is upgrading at a fast pace. To think that I’ve advanced directly to reverence, I’m just one step away from awe!”

“Thank you, great progenitor of the Golden Ant Clan, I also hope to become forever friends with the Golden Ant Clan.” Song Jian said, bowing to the progenitor of the Golden Ant Clan.

At that moment, something stirred within Song Jian, and he turned to look at the tunnel from whence he came.

An Ant King covered in spikes and cloaked in a tough, black shell shuffled out from the tunnel, fluttering its wings.

The behemoth, its eyes blood red, was three to four times the size of a typical Mutant Ant King. Each step it took etched a deep scratch on the ground.

“Is this… the evolved Ant King servant?” Song Jian, startled by the faint connection he felt with the creature in front of him, wore an expression of shock.

At this point, the power of the cross-shaped Temporal Spatial Chain had completely counteracted the Space-Time Rift, and what was left were massive areas of golden flames burning vigorously on the black lake surface. Evidently, the flames wouldn’t be extinguished until they fully consumed the Abyssal Power within the lake.

The level of the Ant King servant had reached thirty, and it had evolved into a Level 30 Elite BOSS. It roared in fury at Song Jian, flapping its wings and charging at him like an arrow.

“A backlash?” Song Jian’s face clouded over. Although he had already expected it, the rebelling Ant King servant still incited a rush of anger within him.
