I LIVE TO ERADICATE ALL MONSTERS

Chapter 9: The Hierarchy of Otherworldly Beasts

---

Damien entered the huge training hall. There were quite a few people, but since they were spread across the hall, no one was paying attention to anyone else.

Damien found a spot filled with special wooden dummies and began to train.

He sheathed his sword and entered the sword-drawing stance from the Invincible Sword Arts.

He felt that he could unleash a similar attack to the one he used when fighting Jason. Even though his first attempt had been instinctive, he had already gotten the hang of it.

But something was off. His mind was constantly replaying the image of the white-armored swordsman drawing his sword.

"It feels like I have only understood one percent of it."

The swordsman's draw was not only sharp but contained enough power to cut through a powerful Otherworldly beast.

"Where did that power come from...? Could it be that..." he suddenly thought of a possibility.

He remembered his roommates' words:

"Force skills guide the use of Force Energy. Does it mean Force Energy and Force skills are meant to be used together?"

He stood before a dummy, his hands on his sheathed sword. Using the Force Training Manual, he channeled the energy through his body.

There was a flash of white light as his sword flew out from its sheath. This time, the sword seemed to let out a metallic cry as piercing Force Energy slashed along the edge of his blade.

Wooosh... Bang!

The upper half of the wooden dummy fell. The lower part showed a clean cut.

Damien was shocked.

"So this is the effect of Force Energy..."

This was basic knowledge, but since he had lived on the hill all his life with a less-than-present teacher like Mr. Charles, he didn't know.

He made a rough calculation: his sword-drawing power had increased by about twenty percent. However, compared to the swordsman, he was still far behind.

He sheathed his sword and began to draw repeatedly.

Several hours passed, but he kept drawing his sword. Compared to earlier, his proficiency in drawing had increased significantly.

He wiped the sweat from his face and executed one final draw. Sheathing his sword, he walked back to the dorm. Scott and Sony were out.

He washed up and took out his mom's book.

The second page was blank the last time he read it, but now, as he held it, mana began to churn in his mind, and a strand of mana flew onto the page.

Words began to appear.

"Hey, Damien... you must have created your mana field since you are seeing this. On this page, I will teach you a basic spell of our Angel race: The Healing Light Spell."

Various illustrations appeared, showing the spell. He read the instructions and began to channel light-element mana into his mana field. Moments later, a white light covered his body. He felt quite comfortable in the light, and the wound on his shoulder from his battle with Jason closed, disappearing with the light.

"Mom said it normally takes an Angel two days to learn this spell, but it seems my talent is no exaggeration."

He read the rest of the second page.

"Your father's Blood Race also has its techniques, but their techniques are stored in their bloodline. It might take a while to awaken your first technique. Until then, keep practicing and absorbing more mana."

The third page was blank, and he wasn't told what condition he needed to activate it.

He closed the book and hid it. At that moment, his two roommates walked in, each holding a basket.

"Hey, lil' genius! Already your first day, and you managed to beat someone... Impressive," Scott said, closing the door.

"I was just lucky."

"Hmm, you're too modest," Sony said, putting a basket on his bed. Damien opened it to reveal a tray of food.

"We went out to grab some food."

"Thanks, guys." Damien was quite thankful. He had been so engrossed in training that he had forgotten all about eating.

"Don't worry..." Sony chuckled, stuffing his face with a piece of chicken from his basket. He was the true definition of a glutton, continuously eating.

Damien looked at him with a wry smile and began to eat as well.

They talked as Damien listened. From them, Damien learned a lot about the continent and the situation of the world.

The next day, he went to class as usual. Instructor Charles was late, and the discussion centered around Otherworldly beasts.

Apart from the fact that they were not from this world and were cruel and bloodthirsty, they had a strict hierarchy.

They were classified into:

Slaves

Soldiers

Commander Level

Generals

Kings

The Monarch

The Slave-level Otherworldly beasts were equal to Apprentice-level Slayers and Mages and were the most common types found.

They could be further classified into lower-tier, middle-tier, and upper-tier Otherworldly Slave beasts.

Soldier-level Otherworldly beasts corresponded to Rank 1, 2, and 3 Slayers.

They were also classified into lower-tier, middle-tier, and upper-tier as well.

Commander-level Otherworldly beasts were the elite forces of Otherworldly beasts. They controlled large groups of Soldiers and Slaves, corresponding to Rank 4, 5, and 6 Slayers.

Generals were the true top forces of the Otherworldly beasts. They rarely acted, but when they did, it caused a bloodbath.

Lower-tier, middle-tier, and upper-tier Generals corresponded to Rank 7, 8, and 9 Slayers.

As for the King-class creatures, they were regarded as nobility among the Otherworldly beasts. There were only three of them, and they corresponded to Rank 10, otherwise known as Transcendent-level Slayers.

The Monarch of the Otherworldly Beasts was a mysterious entity. No one had seen him, but based on the strength of his subordinates, he was estimated to be immensely powerful. Among the humans, there was no one of corresponding strength.

Damien, hearing this for the first time, was shocked, as were the other students.

He was also curious to know where the black dragon that had killed his mom ranked in this hierarchy.

At that moment a red-haired girl sitting behind Damien raised her hand.....
