At the peak of a hill, a middle sized cottage stood on the hill

Two figures were sleeping in the grass,a few meters below the cottage , staring into the starry night sky .

"Mom do you think I can ever be like the other kids down in the village " one of the figures a tall handsome kid said sitting up in the grass. The moonlight fell on his face revealing a handsome youth of about fourteen ,he had dark hair with strands of silver in them ,small lips and perfect round eyes which shown like a million stars. His brown eyes shown with unusual brightness .

The beautiful woman , lying beside him on the grass looked at her son ,pain in her eyes

"Son...there is nothing wrong with you ,..Damien ,you are just special ..there are others like you...you have a special role to play in the world ." She said the night breeze gently blowing wisps of her silver hair.

Damien remained silent ,his mind was clouded with doubts. As a kid he had spent his entire life on this hill . In the beginning he used to go down the hill to play with the kids in the village but after sometime he discovered he was different from the others.

He was stronger, faster and agile. In the night he could clear as day and when he wanted he could hear everything several meters away.

So he stopped going to the village for fear of others knowing about his abnormality .

The silver haired woman remained silent , She understood her son's emotions better than anyone. Damien continued to look into the sky ,after a while the doubts on his face disappeared .

"Mom would never lie to me "he thought

"Mom... how was Dad...was he like me ?" Damien asked looking backwards at his mom.

His mom's eye closed tightly, Damien bit his lip.

He shouldn't have asked this question in the first place.

"Your dad he was so special...he loved us both, but sometimes you have to sacrifice for those you love and that's..." She paused wiping away the tears that were forming in the corner of her eyes

"Sorry mom .." Damien apologized realising the harm he had caused.

"It's okay " She said with a half smile .

"Hey don't worry, l will protect you in Dad's place " Damien vowed puffing out his chest in a way that was supposed to make him heroic looking but it made him look cute instead.

"Haahaa haa...." Damien's mom burst into laughter seeing this .

"Hmm , what's funny...I am being serious here...This is not a joke" Damien said ,his face turning red.

"Hahahahahaha ...."This drew fresh round of laughter from her .

Damien silently admired his mom's beauty and laid down on her laps .They continued to look into the starry nightsky till Damien fell asleep

Damien woke up , he was standing in the middle of a field.Suddenly black shadows with red eyes appeared several meters behind him. The twisted shadows resembled monsters.

"Growl " they snarled , then shot towards the frightened boy .

Damien found himself running acros the field, his feets working crazily beneath him. However no matter how much he run the monsters were always catching up with him.

Across the field several meters away, Damien caught sight of a figure covered in golden light.

Damien quickened his pace, his feets working crazily beneath him. His instincts were telling him he would be safe as long as he got to the winged figure in the golden light.

As he got closer , Damien felt that the golden figure was farmiliar.

"Mom"

He quickened his pace , however as he got closer to his mom ,starting from the four pair of wings behind her ,She began to dissipate into pieces of golden light.

"No mom!! " his heart trembled in his chest . Hear was getting closer ,but at this point the lower half of his mother had already disintegrated into pieces of golden light.

However she still had a gentle smile on her face . Damien leaped up trying to hug her .

" whoosh " his figure shot through the floating pieces of light.

" Mom ! ! "He woke up with a scream ,only to discover that he was in his bedroom.

"Mo..."

"Shhhh...It's okay , it was just a bad dream" a hand reached from the end of the bed ,patting his dark - silver hair .

Damien looked at his mom .His heart calmed down gradually, She placed his head on her laps and continued patting it.

Damien fell aleep in this position .

Golden sun rays poured into the room, Damien was awakened by the smell of a promising breakfast. He hugged his mom in the kitchen and went to have his bath.

After breakfast he decided to go down the hill. He wondered how his old playmates were doing .

He was nervous but he still wanted to go.

He got to the small forest that occupied the middle belt of the hill. He activated his super hearing ability.

His figure flashed ,agilely jumping from tree to tree.

Suddenly a new sound caught in his attention. It was another human's voice, however this was the first time he had heard a different voice so close to their home.He jumped on to another tree, flashing towards the source of the sound

"Let's go back , Anna " the voice belonged to a young girl of about ten. She had light blonde hair ,a pair of emerald eyes. She look scared as she tugged on the skirt of an older girl. They had close resemblance ,just that the elder one had bright green eyes which were currently reflecting curiosity. Damien studied from the top of a tree .

"Let 's leave Anna " the younger one repeated.

"Come on Jane,there is nothing dangerous here, I heard people even live at the top of the hill" Anna replied.

"Are they talking about us " Damien thought aloud.

The two sisters immediately looked up towards the source of the sound.

A pair of bright brown eyes looked back at them.

"Aaargh" with a frightened scream they immediately dashed backwards, running away.

"Wait "Damien called out . He could overtake them with his speed but he decided against it.

He went back home. His mom looked at him questionly. Just as she was about to say something ,there was a loud roaring sound. The entire hill began to tremble.

"What was that ? "Damien asked frightened.

Damien's mom,Rose looked into the distance , a serious look on her face .

She turned towards Damien.

"It's nothing ...hey take this ,keep it safe alright " his mom said taking out a blue patterned book.She placed it in his hand.

"Mom, what's going on ? "

She ignored him and walked outside, Damien tried to move but he couldn't move a muscle .

"Huh... ?" He watched in shock as a golden armour of light enveloped his mom's body .Eight wings opened up behind her and a light halo appeared above her head and she emanated a divine aura. She raised her hand up to the sky. Several golden seals materialised.

"Boom !! " with a flap of her wings she disappeared into the horizon, meanwhile the golden seals in the air merged ,forming a giant light barrier.

Damien felt something bad was happening , however no matter how hard he tried to move, he couldn't.

Several hours later the hill continued shaking .Damien could hear vibrations in the air. It sounded like two rockets crashing .

Trees and dust rose up to the sky and the wind was fierce .However everything in the light barrier was alright ,nothing could get in.

Finally, two figures appeared in his view .One was covered in a dark red energy ,Damien couldn't see the figure well.

The other figure was his mom ,now she had six pair of wings behind her.

" Boom..boom"the two figures clashed several times.

"Boom" his mom was sent flying down .

" Booom!! She created a crater as she fell.The shockwave spread. Inside the light barrier , Damien was not affected.

When the smoke and dust settled, he saw Rose lying weakly on the ground.

"No...mom!!" His heart began to beat faster. He forced every muscle in his body do move . His legs began to shake .

The dark figure flew down. It was aman covered in dark scales with pieces of rotten flesh all over his body

"This is where you die, Rose "the man said aloud

"No..no...no" Damien screamed but it seemed the barrier was soundproof,so tge two people did not hear.

His heart was now beating abnormally.His brown eyes lit up.

"Tap...tap...tap" he began to move, though he was still struggling .

The dark scaled man reached out his hand ,a dark claw materialised and pulled Rose up.

"Bastard, don't hurt her" he shouted but not only was the light barrier soundproof but it also made the things inside it disappear

"Time to join your husband...where's the kid? ...You guys can have a family reunion down in the underworld "it snarled.

"One day someone will destroy you all ...all of you ,otherworld monsters " Rose said

"Hmm...Another claw appeared flying into her chest and dug into her heart.

Damien's expression freezed.

The man tossed her aside.

Another monster with a long horns appeared.

"We 're done, the king of the dwellers is near" it said

"Hmm , i will fight him then " the dark scaled man replied .

"Sir, The lord has advised you against going against his plans.."

"Okay ..let's go, tell eveyone to leave '' he ordered

A black light covered him , the dark scaled man turned into an evil dragon with dark scales and rotten skin.

"Boom " he shot off.His surbodinates also disappeared.

Damien was on his knees looking at his mom.She was dying.She started disintegrating into golden light .He remembered his dream..

"Otherworld monsters...."Damien repeated their name

"I swear I will wipe all of you away from existence" a cry echoed throughout the light barrier.
