chapter 8
8. Survival rule number one: Don’t eat anything (2)
“Hide in the lair.”
“Yes!”
I was a bit taken aback by Karina’s reaction as she answered my words so naturally. Don’t you usually ask why? I asked Karina, who nodded her head vigorously.
“…Don’t you ask why?”
“There’s no way John would say such a thing, right? Besides, it must have been related to that incident the other day…”
Well, it was obvious why I was sending her to her hiding place, so she must have noticed my intentions right away. She didn’t have the confidence to explain each one, but I never thought she would be so quick to notice. This makes things a little easier.
As I remembered the location of the various items in the house, I moved toward the storage room inside the house. Items salvaged from shipwrecks and various items I made as a hobby.
The only thing I had to take care of was the poisons I had collected so far.
Powder made from grinding poisonous weeds, spore powder from mushrooms, and poisons from venomous snakes that have occasionally entered my territory and been barbequed. To survive in the wild, you always have to hide a move.
Because it is not the strong who survive, but the survivor who is strong.
“Shouldn’t you have brought a sh*t bomb?”
It smells bad, but that’s why it was great for driving away monsters.
It’s dirty, but what can I do?
A weak human must know how to roll his body in order to survive alone in the wild. It’s wild that if you cover hot or cold rice, it becomes lukewarm meat and becomes a meal, but there is no stupid guy who covers that. In addition, while human excrement was useless, animal excrement was useful.
Spray the smell of wild beasts to block the access of other animals, dry it and use it as fuel, or use it as fertilizer, although it doesn’t mean much. I don’t know why people can’t use human poop, but it’s useful anyway. If this was a desert rather than an uninhabited island, the warehouse would be full of camel dung. I heard that camel dung burns so well.
Anyway, when will we be able to talk a little more comfortably?
If she had been a normal-looking woman, she would have been more speechless, but since she is overly beautiful, she feels burdened just by talking to her. I feel like the kind of person I’ll never have a relationship with, so it’s hard to narrow the distance.
But we can’t live like this for the rest of our lives… No, won’t we go our separate ways after we escape anyway?
After all, Karina is a saint, and I am just a drifter with no connection. So there is no need to get any closer. I am not a main character.
“…Come to think of it, who is the main character of Survival Academy?”
I remember starting with the default settings if I didn’t set anything, but I’m not sure about that part. It’s already been 10 years, and I’ve never seen the default settings, so I don’t really know anything other than carder. I don’t know who it is, but I know that all kinds of high school students do their best until they graduate.
It’s not something I care about right now. What is important to me right now is how to solve the crisis that has come unnoticed. I wasn’t sure if I’d be able to survive with all the means I had now.
I don’t know who I am, and I don’t even know my weaknesses. There is nothing more lethal than that.
The fact that there is no place I haven’t been to on this uninhabited island is a good point. There is nothing more important than knowing geography in war. All the more so because this island is overflowing with rotting people who would turn humans into popped cans.
“…I think among the things I picked up was a telescope…”
I searched through the randomly piled junk to see if there was a telescope, but unfortunately I couldn’t find it. Should I even make it myself? But I don’t know how to make a tool like a telescope.
The crafting skill won’t work if you don’t know how to make it, so there’s no answer. I think I learned how to make a telescope from an old comic book, but in the end I have to have a lens. To make a lens, glass must be… Right?
Do you have lenses?
I searched the warehouse for a lens for a while, but unfortunately there was no lens. Ultimately, it means you have to see it with your own eyes.
When I was checking snake cubs and bear cubs, I came across them and almost died. But again, I have to take the risk. Can’t you make my life a little easier?
“I’d rather make stuff for hiding.”
I can’t even dream of a telescope, so I’d better make a camouflage suit to be less noticeable by the new invaders.
Makeup is a bonus.
“Life…”
Applying camouflage cream in the army was such a shame, but here I am in a position where I have to apply it all over my body.
“…Tomorrow is going to be a very f*cking day.”
—————-
“Please be careful.”
“…Have a good day.”
I quietly closed the door to the hiding place. This door won’t be open for a while.
I hope that’s exactly what it is. If someone other than me opens the door, or if a monster breaks in… Let’s stop the ominous thoughts.
I walked with a leather pouch on my shoulder, as heavy as my military gear.
The destination is, of course, the territory of the bears, where the unidentified enemy is. I don’t know if it will be a few days, but I have to see the end.
As always, time is not on my side.
The more I delayed, the more I hesitated to act, the more it became obvious that the new destruction would gradually close the distance. So from now on, I’ll have to somehow gather information, set traps, lure enemies, and kill them.
“I hope the poison works.”
If you can catch it easily with a poison, there is no more comfortable way than that. Coincidentally, the poison to be applied to the trap was saved to apply a new one, so it was plentiful. Still, I’d like to end it peacefully if possible…
That can’t be possible.
According to my 10 years of experience on an uninhabited island, those eyes were full of murderous intent. Is it possible to talk peacefully with a creature with eyes like that? At least I don’t think so If that was the case, would I have done the labor of papering the borders of my territory with traps?
It’s just that we are all shouting friends and helping each other.
Write. Life on an uninhabited island would have been more comfortable if my skill had been a druid rather than crafting. If only I could get along with the bears, the difficulty of my drifting on a deserted island would have gone down to ngae mode.
Even if you choose hard mode for a game, people want to choose easy mode for life. Oh, this is not the time to think about things like this. Let’s concentrate Because I have to go back to that dangerous place soon.
“…What the hell are you doing, tearing up the forest like this?”
As soon as I entered the territory, I thought of the broken trees and the traces of digging the ground that I often see. Unlike the incarnation of violence, are they herbivores? How are you digging the ground? Do you dig up the roots? Or not…
“…I have to start with the camouflage.”
I took out a shovel and dug up some wet mud. The thick scent of nature comes from the mud close to my face. It’s a scent that makes me sick of it, but I get more sick of it today. I smeared mud all over my upper body. Brown mud clung to my entire upper body.
It’s been several years since I did this. When I first landed on a deserted island, I did everything I could to survive. Getting mud all over your body is cute, and when you need it, you get bear poop… I thought I’d never do something like this again.
“f*ck your life…”
I spit out curse words and looked around at my body, which was covered in mud, then lowered my body and looked at the digging spot. The hole dug was not very large. It looks like it was randomly dug up by human hands. When I gently dug the area that had been dug up with a shovel, I found something like a pure white lump in the dirt.
Something the size of a fingernail.
I scooped it out very carefully with the blade of a shovel.
“…Is it a mushroom?”
Soft and appetizing texture. It’s like a mushroom.
You eat mushrooms? On this uninhabited island? This must be a place full of poisonous mushrooms, right? Is it poison resistant? Or maybe…
“!@ㅑ#ㅛ#!&*(!#*!)!”
“My ears…”
I reflexively plugged my ears, but I couldn’t block the shock transmitted to my brain through the eardrum. The world shakes It feels like there is a haze in front of your eyes. I hid behind a tree, took an herb out of my pocket, and chewed it whole.
Write.
It doesn’t taste good.
But you have to eat.
I rather endured the taste, chewed and swallowed the herb whole, and came to my senses as I saw my sight slowly returning to normal. It was obvious who the owner of this roar was.
“…After. I still have to do what I have to do.”
I got up. The roar means that something is happening.
My head hurts. But when was it not? Living on an uninhabited island is a series of headaches. Again, it’s just a little bit of a headache. Anyway, I can’t keep running away from this narrow uninhabited island.
So let’s see who the guy who’s been shouting at in the morning is.
Of course from afar.
I, a brave coward, stepped towards the unknown invader.
