Chapter 69: Chapter 69
|3rd POV|
Stannis does not like this plan. He and his fleet sneakily sail without alerting the Solaris Kingdom. He and his men use the farther route away from the Solaris Kingdom and reach the shore east of the Gurlian City.
They are lucky to have wind on their side the entire time they do this voyage. In the first part of their journey, the wind blows from the north, and they go through the Stepstones at a record time from Dragonstone.
At the other half of the journey, the wind blows from the west, and they can easily use the Summer Sea to sail through the southern part of the Solaris' sea.
When they reach the land, Stannis orders his men to create a camp on top of the hill not too far away from the shore and wait for the chance to attack. It does not take long before he sees a siege happening, and he only needs to wait for a few more days before he sees Solaris' army charging from the south to attack the flank of Norio's army.
Stannis looks at his army and says.
"We are not to defeat them. We are here to cause as much damage as possible."
He takes a deep breath and roars.
"Charges!"
With that order, a thousand riders go through the hill and attack Solaris' flank. Viserys and his army are caught off guard by the new army and the speed at which they arrive at the battlefield. Stannis might be Master of the Ship of Westeros, but he still trains his men so they can still be great riders.
While they are not heavy cavalry, their surprise attack creates good damage from their first impact. With the chaos, Stannis and his men butcher their way through the formation of Viserys' army.
"Dammit! Captain! Lead the units three, four, and six! The rest of you! Rally to me!"
Viserys roars an order and moves with his army to face the new enemies. He and his troops appear in front of the cavalry, and he swings his mace at the horse in front of him. When his mace meets with the horse, it creates a sound of bone breaking from the impact.
"Attack! Kill them all!"
Viserys leads his men through the corpses of his men and fights against the cavalry in front of them. Stannis knows that the situation is not good, so he blows his war horn, signaling them to retreat. He doesn't want his army to be bogged down by Viserys' army, which has the number.
"Dammit! Come back here!"
Viserys swings down his mace and kills one more horseman before taking his bow out of his inventory. He keeps shooting at the retreating cavalry and is able to take down a few horsemen. However, Stannis and his men manage to retreat, but instead of retreating for good, they turn around and charge at the fight in the north.
They charge at the enemies and hit the formation with their charge. Viserys and his men run as fast as possible toward the main battlefield to reinforce the others. When he arrives, he swings his mace and starts killing all the enemies he meets.
Shields and armor do not work against his mace because of the enchantment on his mace. It contains [Wind Burst], [Smite], and [Fire Aspect]. The sight of humans getting blasted to the sky and set on fire each time the mace hit them reduces the morale of the enemy and affects their effectiveness in battle.
Stannis grits his teeth as he sees his men get thrown to the sky and set on fire. He is good at war, but fighting against a Witch King is another matter entirely. He and his troops continue to fight for another fifteen minutes before Stannis blows his warhorn three times, indicating a full retreat.
Viserys roars in frustration but decides not to give chase to the retreating army and hopes they charge at them once again. So, he focuses on the infantry Norio sends and helps the siege just like they planned.
Lucky for him, the cavalry do not return as Stannis and his troops return to their base. They are done here, and Stannis wants to report on Viserys's power because that kind of power can and will change how they fight in the war against the Solaris Kingdom. He has a solid reason to return.
Viserys and his men focus on the battle while also making sure a small group watches if Stannis and his group return or not. After a couple of hours of battle, he and his army manage to make Norio's army retreat.
And that news reached Norio's ears. As he grits his teeth, he orders the remaining mercenaries to do one final push against the defender on the wall. As for him and the rest of Myr's personal army, they are retreating in secret, using the forest to their north.
Without Norio and his personal army, Viserys and his army could easily have reached the main battlefield because no one was stopping them or even delaying them from reaching the battlefield. They reach the battlefield and attack the enemies from the rear, creating chaos and disarray in the enemy's formation. With a reinforcement causing chaos in the enemy's rear and distracting the archers, Willem orders his cavalry to prepare, and after a few minutes, they charge at the enemies.
Two armies are attacking from the front and the back at once, while the mercenaries that Myr and Tyrosh gather have panic attacks. Viserys and his army sweep through the battlefield. His presence creates fear in enemies' hearts. His diamond armor shines with magic light, and his mace burns people alive while blasting them into the sky, making people fear him.
They start to give him the title of Witch King, Devil King, or Fire Demon. They scream and run away from the battlefield. One by one, people start to run away before the majority of them retreat, and the rest of them surrender.
Viserys takes a deep breath and raises his mace.
"VICTORY!"
