I Pioneered Scientific Magic

Chapter 452: Fusion Reactor - (2)

“By the way, how are things going with the Holy See recently? Any new developments?" Victorio handed back the blueprint, inquiring.

It had been a long time since they had defeated the invading army. Perhaps the enemy would fear the deterrent power of the grand nuclear magic and refrain from large-scale invasions. However, Lynn recalled the intelligence received yesterday and explained, "According to the scouts' reports, there have been three incidents of demonic calamities within the empire in the past few months. Coupled with the impact of witch-hunting activities, the empire's internal situation is also unstable."

"That's good news!" Victorio raised an eyebrow. They were most worried now about the Holy Church making a desperate move and rallying all their strength against them.

Even though the construction of the nuclear reactor and the extraction of heavy hydrogen would take two to three months each... without an equivalent force to confront the incarnation of that pseudo-god, they would be forced to resort to using the Grand Nuclear Art, a magic that killed as many enemies as it harmed them.

The intense energy waves did not discriminate between friend and foe. The last time, entire swaths of land outside the city were destroyed. This time, it could be the City of Fire Oil or the capital itself.

Lynn chuckled. It seemed they had propagated the news of the defeat of the invading army so extensively that all the restless individuals hiding in the shadows had emerged. Although this had triggered large-scale witch-hunting operations, resulting in the deaths of many wizards, it should also keep the Holy See occupied and buy them some time.

As for those demons and their followers, Lynn felt no sympathy. These ancient psychic wizards had all been corrupted by the power of belief, losing their sanity. If the Holy See could successfully eliminate these people, it would save them a lot of trouble in the future.

That being said, while the two were discussing, a servant entered with a dossier and respectfully interrupted, "Lord Speaker, Master Lynn, it's about the situation in the empire."

Lynn glanced at the pages and furrowed his brow.

How coincidental.

"What's wrong?" Victorio asked, puzzled.

"It's about the demonic calamities!" Lynn explained. According to the scout's reports, there had been three incidents of demonic calamities within the empire, yet strangely, they had caused almost no casualties and had been quickly suppressed, as if the senior leadership of the Holy See had received advance notice and set up ambushes.

"That's indeed strange," Victorio said, stroking his white beard, pondering what the Holy See might be up to.

In addition, there was another piece of information worth noting: the wizards in charge of communication had received a strange electromagnetic wave signal yesterday evening.

Due to the rapid transmission speed of electromagnetic waves, they could not confirm the source or decrypt the signal. After careful consideration, they could only use electromagnetic magic to interfere with it.

Someone had even developed a way to use electromagnetic waves in magic?

Lynn was very curious, but more importantly, he was vigilant, as the most common use of this technique was for transmitting information.

...

Three days later, in the royal capital, within a luxurious castle, dozens of nobles dressed in extravagant attire and with displeased expressions were gathered for a secret meeting.

"These damned wizards dare to illegally occupy the eastern territory of the kingdom, wantonly punish and slaughter nobles. Who gave them the right?" Count Mortan roared hysterically in the castle, earning echoes of agreement from the other nobles.

In the year and a half since the wizards had occupied the capital, thanks to the substantial benefits brought by driving out the Holy Church and establishing actual rule, many had changed their attitudes, gradually accepting the status quo of wizards replacing the Holy Church's position.

Even the most devout to the faith, like Count Mortan, had to admit the wizards' authority over the kingdom after witnessing the shattered image of the gods and hearing the news of the successive defeats of the crusaders.

However, all cooperation was based on both sides abiding by the rules! The rule was that the nobles ruled the mortal world, and the wizards wielded power over the supernatural!

But the recent actions of the wizards had instilled deep fear in them!

On the way to reclaiming the kingdom's territory and conquering the empire, many nobles had been hanged, their property seized, and their children and servants forced into servitude, doing the same work as the commoners. How could they not be angry and afraid!

"Where is His Majesty the King? Is he just allowing the entire eastern territory of the kingdom to be seized by the wizards?" a viscount incredulously exclaimed.

"His Majesty?" Mortan sneered. "He's a pseudo-king, just a puppet propped up."

He had heard from a guard that the wizards had indeed sent people to consult after occupying the cities.

But it was only for consultation!

The other party had already completed the task, so what other choice did King Hatar have besides agreeing?

The nobles participating in the discussion were increasingly agitated. If it hadn't been for their assistance and cooperation, how could those wizards manage such a vast territory of the kingdom?

The entire kingdom would probably have been torn apart by the attacks of the believers and the mob!

Now, they were blatantly trying to break their agreement. Today, it might only be the eastern part of the kingdom that suffered, but if those wizards managed to deal with all the opposition, it might be their turn next...
