Chapter 118 - Chapter 118: Treatment Plan
Chapter 118: Treatment Plan
“Ugh… It hurts…”
“The healer’s magic is exhausted. Bear with it for a while. There were many seriously injured adventurers.”
We returned to the town of Frales and carried the wounded into the clinic attached to the church. Although the knights had some injuries, fortunately, none were life-threatening or severe enough to end their careers.
However, the adventurers weren’t as fortunate. There were two fatalities and three who lost limbs. Five others were barely clinging to life with the aid of healing magic. Despite using healing potions for emergency treatment, several couldn’t leave their beds.
Among them was Simon, lying face down in bed and groaning. When we saw the forest’s edge, he was excited to go to the brothel and started running. It was then that a boar suddenly lunged at his rear end.
It was a regular boar, not a monster. It didn’t seem threatening because it usually falls prey to monsters. A potion wouldn’t work on the bruises and severe internal bleeding on his buttocks. Drinking a potion or applying it to a cut would heal internal bleeding, but it wouldn’t be effective for bruises.
He wasn’t wearing armor to avoid making noise in the forest, leading to this unfortunate incident. Although, everyone who witnessed it couldn’t help but laugh. The boar seemed to be fleeing from another monster and kept running. Meanwhile, Simon who was unable to move can only cursed at it like a child, making the scene comical.
“The brothel girls are waiting for me…”
“Simon, be quiet! Everyone here feels the same, so keep it down!”
Amedeo from Elliot’s squad was in the same room due to an injury. At twenty-four, he was older than Simon and reprimanded him as a senior. Amedeo’s leg injury had stopped bleeding thanks to a potion, but his broken bone hadn’t fully healed. As such, he was waiting for healing magic.
“Ah, the captain’s lucky. You’ll probably go to the brothel with Alan, right?”
“…Are you serious? What do you expect me to tell Jest to get him to stay behind?”
It would be a lie to say I didn’t want to go. I was feeling quite high-strung after everything that happened, but I didn’t want to prioritize it over Jest. I glared at Simon, but he somehow seemed happy.
“Well, if the captain’s holding back too, then those guys won’t go either. It’s fine as long as I’m not the only one waiting.”
Simon muttered with relief, burying his face in the pillow. It seemed he was upset because he thought he was the only one waiting while the others enjoyed themselves.
“Marius will probably bring dinner soon, so stay quiet until the healer’s magic recovers tomorrow.”
“Okay.”
I proceeded to exit the patient room. I quickly left without mentioning that Arnault and Gaspard had already headed to the brothel. As I walked down the hallway towards the square where the Third Knight Order had camped, I heard an argument from a nearby room near the exit.
“Can’t you do something? They won’t be able to live as adventurers like this!”
“If their arms or legs had been bitten off, we might have been able to heal them with luck… but regenerating missing limbs is impossible unless we have a saint.”
“Damn it! There’s no way a saint would come here, and without a legendary elixir, they’re doomed…”
It sounded like Alan and a healer were talking. After knocking three times, I called out from behind the door. Alan was the one who opened it.
“Brother…!”
“I heard what you were discussing. While it’s impossible to bring a saint here, one might come to Salamona, the branch point to the Holy Kingdom. It would require a considerable donation, though.”
“Really!?”
Instead of Alan, the healer in the room was the first to react. The saint is almost revered by healers, given their esteemed status.
“Yes. The saint is currently in the Holy Kingdom, and we escorted her to Salamona as part of her guard. Naturally, we’ll be escorting her back. If we move slowly to avoid strain, we should be able to manage. The saint will stay in the Holy Kingdom for a few days, so we should make it in time.”
“I will accompany you and use healing magic as needed to ensure the patients can withstand the journey!”
The healer offered this with sparkling eyes, clearly eager to meet the saint in person.
“That’s great, but the problem is the donation…”
“If it’s for three people, we could negotiate with the guild. We gathered a lot of materials in this recent subjugation mission. If we deduct the treatment costs for everyone from the total, the guild shouldn’t complain. If any adventurer has an issue with it, remind them that they might need the same help if they lose a limb in the future. With the monsters getting stronger, joint subjugations will become more common.”
“True… If they know they’ll be taken care of if they get injured next time, they’ll feel more secure…”
“Also, don’t forget to warn them that those who get injured frequently won’t be invited to joint subjugations. Oh, and regarding the saint, I can put in a good word. We’re not strangers.”
“Heheh, as expected. You’re really reliable, brother.”
Feeling the admiration from my younger brother, I ruffled Alan’s hair affectionately before leaving the clinic.
