I'm Really Not a Pokémon

Chapter 26: Countermeasures

"The situation has been basically confirmed." In the conference room, Lance stood in front of the projection screen, holding a laser pointer in his hand, pointing at the photo on the screen. In the photo, the middle-aged man with a scar was getting off his shining Pidgeot. In front of him were several well-known Pokémon Hunters who had risen recently.

Lance was talking about the basics at the top, and below them, the Kanto Elite Four, the Johto Elite Four, Cynthia, and Diantha, who had come to help out at Rope's invitation, as well as Meray from the Arche Valley, all listened to Lance's explanations with stony expressions on their faces. There was also a little Hoopa, now lying on Rope's shoulder eating a Pokéblock that Rope had prepared.

Rope couldn't help but think that Lance's talk was really not as interesting as Lorelei's. After all, Lorelei was still very pleasing to the eye as a queen. Well, it was a bit like a teacher...

Just as Rope was staring at the screen, his eyes lax, Rope suddenly felt a painful sensation in his waist. His features twisted for a moment, then he looked at Cynthia, who was listening to Lance's explanation of the situation with a face as if nothing had happened.

Rope was in tears for a moment.

He remembered that Cynthia wasn't supposed to be psychic. Could she also read minds?

Rope looked at Cynthia with a resigned face, while Cynthia seemed to have sensed his gaze and turned her head and smiled, the resignation on Rope's face turned into helplessness and shrugged.

Hoopa sensed that the two humans seemed to be communicating in some way he couldn't understand. Thinking for a while while, not having much of a clue, then resumed chewing on the Pokéblock.

This Pokéblock is definitely the best Pokéblock I've ever eaten! Hoopa thought as it stuffed its mouth with food.

Rope, if he knew what Hoopa was thinking, would have said, 'Fuck, damn, all sit down. Being a Pokéblock maker isn't a basic skill for a crosser? It feels like a crosser could fill that skill up.'

While this side was "exchanging friendly words", Lance's side had also finished the matter. He put down the laser pointer in his hand and said, "Thank you all very much for your help, and thanks to Rope's timely discovery, we've already set up a disaster prevention escape route for Pewter City. It can be guaranteed that all non-combatants will be evacuated within an hour with the help of various Pokémon. Now please also think collectively about ways to deal with it."

After Lance finished speaking, he sat down on his seat and looked at everyone then spoke, "I think we should strike first, since Rope has already touched the other side's base, it would be good to just strike and knock it down, and we can also follow the trail to dig up clues about the poaching organizations in various other regions."

As soon as Lance's words were finished, Lorelei immediately retorted, "The intent of the raid is to reduce losses, but just opening a bottle should be fast, right, so the method of reducing losses by using a surprise attack to make the other party unable to summon it won't work."

Will pondered for a while and said, "Let's evacuate the population first. Even if we stop the other side from the main, it's still hard to avoid having any loss of personnel so how about doing the evacuation first."

Karen bristled with disdain and said, "The other side's scouts have been watching our movements, if we carry out the evacuation the other side is afraid that they will immediately launch an attack." Saying that, he turned his head to look at Rope and said in dissatisfaction, "Rope, are you sure that the little guy on your shoulder is that capable? I'd say it's just a Gym level Pokémon."

Rope smiled, he was an acquaintance due to some coincidence, and Karen's questioning wasn't to embarrass him, rather it was to get Rope to speak up and explain, and dispel the others' doubts.

As the crowd watched, Rope smiled and said to Hoopa, "Hoopa, 'fish' and get a stronger one."

Hoopa stuffed the Pokéblock in his hand into his mouth, then clapped his hands, and a circle flew out from the horns on his head, expanding, and soon a blue, airplane-shaped Pokémon - Latios - flew out from inside the circle Out it came, and then seeing such a crowd of people, looking at it aggressively, it was so frightened that it almost landed on the ground, and with a low whine it hurriedly burrowed back through the circle.

Hoopa also retracted the ring, and then took a piece of Pokéblock from Rope's hand, and continued to eat.

The crowd present, except for Rope and Meray, were all shocked.

Damn, this little guy can really summon Legendary Pokémon.

"I think this little guy can help us summon almost as much help." Koga came back to his senses and hurriedly spoke.

The crowd was all delighted at his words. Thinking that Koga had a point.

Rope sniffed and immediately retorted, "Hoopa can give us help, but not that much. First of all, Hoopa Unbound are equivalent to Hoopa's original power, and are themselves the ones standing at the top of the Legendary Pokémon, and the other Legendary Pokémon that it can summon with its energy level are naturally numerous and strong. That's why Hoopa's help isn't as great as you guys think."

Rope's words once again knocked everyone's excitement back. Rope did have a point, Hoopa Confined had such power, let alone a crazy one with full power.

"It's neither here nor there. Give me a break, you found out about this in the first place as well, there's no way you can't do something about it given your character, you already have a plan in mind, don't you, Rope," the lanky Bruno, said to Rope in a calm tone of voice that differed quite a bit from his appearance.

Rope took a deep breath as he watched the crowd converge once again.

"First of all, we need to avoid casualties as much as possible, so taking the Prison Bottle is definitely the best option. And as Lorelei said, opening the bottle is quick, and a surprise attack is bound to be unsuccessful. But we can sneak in..."

Everyone's faces were happy to hear Rope's words. That was true, but it was true that everyone hadn't thought about it. After all, even the ninja-born Koga had become accustomed to the hallowed and proper way of attacking after becoming an Elite Four, and such an act as infiltrating could still be left to the Elite Four champions who were nukes?

"At the same time, we need to be prepared for the second hand, once the infiltration fails and we are discovered, then the opponent will most likely just release Hoopa Evil Thoughts, then avoiding casualties among the populace is the biggest requirement. I suggest holding a grand attractive event away from Pewter City, using this method to get some of the populace to actively leave the vicinity of Pewter City ahead of time, which will once again reduce the transportation pressure and compress the evacuation time once again."

Will nodded approvingly when he heard this plan, compared to his simple and crude method. this method of Rope's was effective and at the same time stealthy at the same time.

"In the end, it's too risky to rely on us to defeat Hoopa Unbound. The best way is to delay it, then use the Prison Bottle to seal it again, and keep the Prison Bottle in our hands and protect it strictly. But..." Rope paused, he turned to look at Meray, and said, "We must think about the problem of Prison Bottle being destroyed... Compared with killing or defeating Hoopa Unbound, delaying and sealing it is too cost-effective, so while we try our best to avoid it from being destroyed, we must also think about repairing it. I need you people from Arche Valley to repair the Prison Bottle. It's better to be safe than sorry."

"Er, we have the method to repair Prison Bottle, but we don't have the means to bring the equipment for the repair here..."

Meray's tone was a bit awkward. It had started because of their lack of protection, and now that there was a chain drop, she was really quite embarrassed.

"It's fine, just have Hoopa send it back, and after it's fixed with a phone call, then have Hoopa bring it back." Rope lightly solved the problem Meray raised.

Meray was first happy, then more embarrassed. Hoopa was their Arche Valley, and it turned out that they didn't know as much as Rope, an outsider, did about Hoopa's role.

The last question, a crouching in the corner without making a sound Red looked at Rope and opened his mouth to ask: "The candidate for infiltration, who is it?"

Rope looked at Red and pursed his lips, "It's me, compared to you guys with high visibility, I'm a nobody who can undoubtedly infiltrate better."

"You're being nonsensical! Are you strong enough to deal with so many dozens of Pokémon Hunters as a rookie trainer?!" Red slammed the table.

The crowd fell silent once again.

Rope was right, he was the perfect person to lurk. Red was also right, Rope was having a hell of a time defending himself. A Charmander, a Growlithe...with these two Pokémon it was like snatching the Prison Bottle from dozens of Pokémon Hunters? A fool's errand...

Rope gave a gentle, confident smile.

"I have my own way."
