Chapter 4: Cooperation? The Weak Have Only A Fate To Be Dominated

When seeing the visitor.

Even Shendu's unflappable character couldn't help but be a little surprised.

He raised his eyebrows, and a trace of imperceptible disgust flashed in the depths of his blood-red eyes.

The visitor was tall and slender, with short pink hair and a mask in the form of glasses on his haughty face. His golden eyes were full of conceited and proud emotions.

The slim white dress was not what Shendu imagined, but the prototype of Espada's attire could be vaguely seen in the future.

More strikingly, on the originally empty face, a huge oval pattern was drawn, spreading from the forehead to the chin, just like the number "0."

SzayelAporro Granz, a researcher in Hueco Mundo, an expert in spiritual weapons.

He is also one of the few Vasto Lorde-level Menos Grande.

At least, for now.

"What an unpleasant title," Shendu muttered.

Even though they were far away, SzayelAporro still heard Shendu's voice clearly.

"Let me introduce myself. I am SzayelAporro Granz."

He did not claim to be Espada, which inevitably made Shendu suspicious.

Especially after seeing the lines that looked like the number "0" on this guy's face.

SzayelAporro was originally not the eighth Espada, but the zeroth Espada.

"As the great Vasto Lorde," SzayelAporro began, walking slowly toward Shendu. His expression became more haughty, and his true intentions were gradually revealed.

"On the orders of some great man, I am here to find a suitable collaborator among Hueco Mundo."

"The battle just now was very exciting. Even if you are just an Adjucha, you are still qualified to talk to me on the same level."

This guy was saying a lot more than Shendu had expected.

"Cooperate?" Shendu raised an eyebrow.

He thought SzayelAporro would make a demand for submission but hadn't expected him to be more cautious than his displayed arrogance suggested.

"That's right."

SzayelAporro spread his hands, showing himself off like a peacock.

"As you can see, we are all Menos Grande but I have changed beyond our original forms."

"We call it 'Arrancar' for this."

He pushed the glasses-like mask on the bridge of his nose and looked at Shendu with burning eyes, as if waiting for a shocked reaction.

But Shendu remained calm. His ferocious and cold dragon-like face was full of mockery.

"Hey, don't you all want to become a higher existence like me?" SzayelAporro asked, dissatisfied.

"Arrancar can break the boundaries of power and comprehend the high-end technology of Shinigami power!"

"A Menos Grande like you, who has just evolved into an Adjucha, should be yearning for it!"

True.

Shendu was indeed a little excited about Arrancar.

But he was also keenly aware of the disadvantages of this ability.

If he truly used the so-called high-end technology SzayelAporro spoke of to achieve Arrancar, his ideals would likely be shattered.

The power of the Hōgyoku was not so easy to borrow.

Between two paths, Shendu believed his choice was more valuable and practical.

"I'm not interested in that," Shendu said with a grin. His deep, magnetic voice reverberated in the empty desert.

"But as a fellow Menos Grande, you should know one thing."

SzayelAporro blinked, taken aback. "What?"

"Adjucha need to prey on a certain number of their own kind to evolve into Vasto Lorde," Shendu said.

He moved his arms, and flames rose beneath his hooves, quickly spreading over his body.

"But I think it might be better to devour Vasto Lorde."

"For this..."

Before finishing his sentence, Shendu's figure disappeared from where he stood.

When SzayelAporro fully grasped the second half of Shendu's statement, the dragon's ferocious face was already above him.

The scorching heat made even Reiatsu shiver.

"You should know better than me, right?"

Hum!

A loud ringing echoed as SzayelAporro instinctively spun to escape.

Swish!

His speed exceeded Shendu's expectations—but only slightly.

Before SzayelAporro could get far, monstrous flames engulfed him entirely.

"Try it."

Shendu's murmur was low, his voice like a demon's from the abyss.

Boom!

The fiery energy of the dragon talisman set off a terrifying explosion.

The desert trembled and quaked.

Endless white sand melted instantly, forming a vast expanse of colored glaze covering kilometers.

Cracks began to form in the glassy surface, spreading like spiderwebs.

Boom!

Flames surged from the ground, forming a massive pillar of fire that pierced the sky and lit the darkness.

The moonlight turned crimson, shining over the white sand.

Below.

Like a volcanic eruption, waves of substantial flames devoured everything in the area, reducing all to ashes.

Shendu stood in the magma, like a king ruling his domain, staring down at SzayelAporro.

At this point, SzayelAporro had lost all the elegance he had upon arriving.

Most of his white uniform had been burned away. His short pink hair was now scorched black.

The previously haughty expression had been replaced by fear and anger.

If not for Menos Grande's steel skin and high-speed regeneration, SzayelAporro would have perished in Shendu's attack.

Though he was a Vasto Lorde and had become Arrancar, SzayelAporro's strength as a researcher was not on par with combatants of the same level.

What was deadlier was his arrogance.

From the start, SzayelAporro hadn't taken Shendu seriously.

"Damn it..."

He cursed under his breath, the pain from his burns nearly driving him insane.

"I will definitely take you—"

Before he could finish, blood-red, cold eyes locked onto him.

It was as if a sharp sword hung over his heart.

The air grew dense with killing intent.

Even amidst the scorching heat waves and surrounding magma, SzayelAporro felt an icy chill seep into his bones.

"Cooperation..."

Shendu stepped forward, approaching slowly.

"It must be based on equal dialogue."

"The weak can only be dominated..."
