Chapter 183: Chapter 184
Enrique
A few minutes ago, Lumos died.
I looked down at the necklace hanging from my bare chest and shoved aside the succubi I was inside, jerking upward. The infernal metal necklace was blood red and pulsing, which could only mean one thing. He was calling for us.
A shiver ran down my spine as I marched over to my wardrobe and swung it open. The human woman who I'd laid with wrapped herself around me, her nipple grazing against my back.
"What's wrong, my prince? Let me make it better," she cooed.
With a flex of my back, my left wing shot out, impaling her in her mid-section and driving her hard into the wall. It snapped her spine. She died immediately.
Killing her did in fact make me feel slightly better, but it did not distract from the gravity of the situation.
Corvus was calling for a meeting. In the 180 years I've known him, this has only happened thrice. He was usually hands-off, sending one of his many emissaries to carry his words.
But this was personal for him.
Shadow pooled around my leg, and I was drawn into the void, reappearing in his tower just outside the door. The hallway was bathed in crimson lights, dozens of tubes hanging overhead. Some transported electricity, others demonic energy. The walls were fashioned from dense infernal metal, and the hallway was scant.
It had an austerity that reminded me of the Oscorp facilities. I took a gander at them when Domina was otherwise preoccupied. It was cold, impersonal, and brutally obsessed with progress.
I felt a spark of Density magic behind me, and my lips spread apart on instinct.
"Domina. Late as usual."
"Have you heard?" she asked as her body gained more mass and she became tangible.
"Heard what?"
"He's dead," she said with some trepidation.
"Who's dead."
"Lumos," she said, and I blinked, not quite believing what I heard.
"That isn't possible… He's not strong enough."
"Lumos's severed head says otherwise," I heard a quiet voice behind us say, and my stomach dropped. Slowly turning around, Corvus stood there. He had wavy red hair and irises, contrasting against his emotionless pale face.
"There have been new developments," he said, turning around. The door opened to his lab, where Lumos's body lay. He was naked, head severed, and his spear laid on a working table.
"There is no mistaking it," he said. "I've run scans. The Nephilim's energy parted his head from his body."
"I'm still unclear how this is possible," I said. "We all saw the update he sent. He tested the boy. He was barely a threat. Lumos should've easily handled him, even after they killed the invader."
"The boy must've fooled him somehow then," Corvus said, "because my readings tell me his magic was nearly as potent as Lumos's."
My eyes widened, and I looked at Domina. Didn't she say he was Greater Demon Rank the last time she fought him?
Domina had a far-off look in her eyes. "I waited too long…I can't take him."
"No, you can't," Corvus pronounced, turning to me. "But you can. Scour the Arctic, flush him out, and execute him. Bring two Elders with you and as many Greater demons as you please. And take an Elder from the Light and Mind faction. They would like to personally extract their pound of flesh. Bring my Homunculi with you as well."
I suddenly found myself standing up straighter. "With all due respect, you said yourself, he is barely on Lumos's level. I need an Elder or two at most."
Corvus's eyes bored into mine. "That boy has sabotaged us at every turn and cut down every demon we've sent at him, including several of our own. Set aside your pride and treat the threat with the urgency it deserves. If Dante Sparda falls, so does the rest of the human world."

Dante
After getting Rin to pop in and drain half the capacity of the Arc creators, I started looking through the bodies of the Devourers and some other mutated monsters.
They were packed with all sorts of potential weapon abilities.
Blood Manipulation—which I thought would be perfect for my Thorn, which hadn't gotten love in a while.
Ice manipulation—which I planned to add to Invictus. If I could explode things with my fist, why not freeze them with my legs?
Wind manipulation seemed perfect for Osiris, and creating an artifact with shapeshifting capabilities could help me unlock my last affinity.
It took eight hours of staying in Devil Trigger and Angel Ascension to generate the power I needed to create the core, but I did it.
And I'd never been more tired. Alternating between both modes placed a different stress on my…well, everything. On the bright side, my stats benefited from the workout, and my skills even more. Cosmic Promethean Body was close to another upgrade. My Cloak and Wings, which I kept at full power the entire time I worked, also grew a little.
The result was a vibrant purple core thrumming with power that made me take several steps back.
Nephilim CoreV1
A modified Arc reactor created by Dante Sparda and Tony Stark after combining rows of storage runes and synthesis runes with a new-gen energy reactor. It is a self-repairing battery capable of outputting massive amounts of Demonic and Angel energy.
Capacity: 500,000 AE/ 500,000 DE
Output limit: 4000 per minute.
Input limit: N/A
Abilities:
Electricity Generation—Generate electricity with equal parts DE and AE.
After the first one, I was too worn down to try a second one. After a 24-hour power nap, I upgraded my base weapons.
They all got marginal increases in power after the upgrades.
Arbiter had 4.7x base damage instead of the 4.5. Osiris damage boost jumped to 1.7x and received a passive boost to all wind-based attacks.
I didn't see hard values, but I thought they were substantial.
Eryx, Aquila, and Ophion also got boosts, but all my weapons gained the metal cambion's weapon manipulation ability. I could morph Eryx now, unclasp my hand, and use it more freely.
The same thing went for Osiris. I could now increase the blade's reach.
Next, my attention turned to my hand-made weapons.
Thanks to the rune miniaturization perk, I could slap more runes on each weapon, starting from Invictus.
I upgraded the storage runes and impact runes and added a few more. The number of impact runes went from six to eight on each leg. I also tagged on the freezing enchantment I wanted and threw in some devourer scale for the hell of it.
Invictus (Grade Max-)
100,000 DE and AE, Runes
Forged from Twilight Vibranium and Adamantium, the Invictus was created to be companions to Eryx and emulate most of its abilities, but with one notable difference. They are lightweight, whereas Eryx is slow.
Conduit I—universal conductivity with all demonic and Angelic affinities
Vibrational Impact II—Break through most materials with enough pressure and force.
Extreme durability II—extremely Impact absorbent due to the influx of Nephilim affinities.
Freezing Strikes I—All your strikes have a pronounced chilling effect, inflicting frostbite on your targets. Can freeze them if enough Angelic Energy is provided.
Self-Repair I: Repair all damage to the weapon with enough energy and time.
Enhancement
Enhanced storage (4000 AE + 4000 DE)
Enhanced Impact II
Severance got the same treatment. The four impact and precision runes went from four to eight each, and I expanded upon the storage runes.
Severance (Grade Max-)
100,000 AE and DE, Runes
Forged with an innovative mixture of Adamantium, Demon Energy, and Angel Energy, this slender greatsword is a masterpiece far beyond the current level of the Arcane Forge Master. It possesses a few potent innate abilities alongside other potent runic enhancements.
Conduit I—universal conductivity with all demonic and Angelic affinities
Extreme durability I—the influx and binding of Nephilim affinities further enhances your weapon's ridiculous strength and potency.
Self-Repair I: Repair all damage to the weapon with enough energy and time.
Enhancement
Enhanced storage (3500AE + 3500 DE)
Enhanced Impact II
Advanced Precision II
My new Uchigatana, Kurogiri, got some love too. After the upgrade, it had seven precision runes, three Impact, and eight storage runes. It also had Self-Repair.
I didn't forget Bloodthorn and my new rifles, either. I brought them all up to par.
While at it, I grabbed some Antarctician Vibranium and processed it. It wasn't too difficult to figure out, given the files I'd extracted from Hydra.
I created several daggers with the stuff and practiced my Telekinesis with it. It cut through metal like butter, zipping almost as fast as my heavily enchanted blade. It rendered the weapon it touched a dissolving, unstable mess that pooled to the floor.
In exchange for that devastating power, however, it didn't store energy either, but it was just as tough. I created two long daggers with it, replacing the old set I used unofficially. I mixed it with Adamantium, sprinkled a few runes, and dubbed it Steel Bane.
Steel Bane
A pair of daggers forged from exotic Vibranium and Adamantium fused with demonic energy. These masterwork daggers are a bane to any metal weapon without sufficient magical protection. They possess some potent innate abilities alongside runic enchantments.
Conduit: Universal conductivity with all demonic and angelic affinities
Extreme durability I—the influx and binding of Nephilim affinities further enhances your weapon's ridiculous strength and potency.
Self-Repair I: Repair all damage done to a weapon with enough energy and time.

Enhanced Impact II
Advanced Precision II
Inspired by what I'd created, I forged several short daggers and swords, each with various metal combinations, runes, and enchantments.
Finally, I worked on twelve spears I elected to call Siege Spears.
They were 12 feet long with handles thick as my wrists and covered in as many precision, impact, and storage runes as I could manage. They were designed for one thing and one thing only.
And that was to kill Cambions and enemies way too powerful to deal with in direct combat.
One of them was powerful enough to level several skyscrapers and survive.
I also infused this new metal into my Twilight Devourer Bodysuit in case I was caught off-guard.
Finally, I turned to my Twilight Sentinel armor. I made some fresh twilight Adamantium, added to the two kinds of Vibranium I had, and distributed it evenly across the armor, making it slightly thicker. Then, I created an opening for my Nephilim core. I switched my storage runes for Impact, weight reduction, and precision runes.
The result was a slightly bulkier, intimidating armor with 23 impacts and Precision runes each, 30 protection runes, and enough energy swimming inside my chest to level a city.
I almost felt bad for Fury, the demons, and whoever else wanted to try me. They were in for a rude awakening. But first, a round of testing. I wanted to see what this baby could do.
Twilight Sentinel Armor
Made from the amalgamation of Adamantium, Vibranium, organic demon metal, and the scales of a slayed devourer, it is Forgemaster Dante's greatest creation yet. It is impervious to all but the strongest physical and met magical attacks and will strike fear in the heart of all who see it.
