Chapter 19: Chapter 5.4: Kaito’s advice
Later that week, I ran into Kaito again. It wasn't unusual. We shared a few classes now, and I had been meaning to catch up with him. But this time, he was the one who approached me.
"You okay?" he asked, his expression unreadable.
I gave him a half-shrug. "Yeah, I guess. Things are… a little better, maybe."
He studied me for a moment, his sharp eyes noticing the subtle changes in my demeanor. "Good. But don't forget what I said, okay?"
I raised an eyebrow. "About the distractions?"
"Yeah," Kaito said, looking me directly in the eye. "Don't let them make you forget what you really want. Or who you are."
I nodded slowly, the weight of his words settling deep in my chest.
"Thanks," I said quietly.
Kaito just gave a small, knowing smile before walking away, leaving me alone with my thoughts.
