Inuyasha:The third sword

Chapter 62: Chapter 62: Mere Thoughts 2

The sky starts to take on some blue hues, that's a clear warning that dawn is in its final stages and both Asahiko and Kikyo seem to know that, though they don't seem to think much of it.

"Time is running out, so tell me Asahiko, will you stop me if I try to kill Kagome?"

The surroundings seemed to freeze due to the seriousness of the words spoken by Kikyo, though in a few moments this silence and heaviness is pushed away by the uncontrollable laughter Asahiko lets out.

"Both you and I know that you don't want her dead, you will be able to fool both Naraku and Inuyasha and I don't deny that you have a few negative feelings towards her, but it seems to me that your rational side can control it and here between the two of us is the proof."

Yes, Kikyo has been able to make decisions based on her feelings, but the ones that have effects directly on her or important people, are always made with absolute rationality on her part, even if that leads her to use a demon so that her mental state doesn't collapse completely.

"And yes my rational side wants her dead too, she is the one who destroyed the shikon pearl."

"Is that your emotional side looking for an excuse to finish her off? It seems that Inuyasha is not the only obsessive one, no... you seem to know that ship has sailed... Umm Umm... Maybe it's not with Inuyasha but with Kagome and her situation".

Asahiko's every word was like fox paws digging in the dirt, only this dirt was Kikyo's thoughts and for every second that passed a rather sadistic smile began to spread on her face, it was almost as if she was beginning to get a taste for this specific situation.

At some point Asahiko stops her words that wanted to keep delving into Kikyo's thoughts, before controlling her facial expression thus stopping her predatory smile and ends up with Kikyo's hair, then disappearing completely.

Kikyo pov.

In a gust of silent wind and unable to finish processing the situation happening at my back, I turn my face back, only to notice Asahiko's missing and her subsequent move to a distant location as she focuses her gaze on the sky.

"What's wrong with him?"

Without looking away from Asahiko who opens his arms as if embracing the sky, he spoke aloud knowing that whatever is happening to Asahiko that spirit will know.

"Nothing too serious, she only has some problems in controlling her emotions or instincts... Strange, since she had to overcome that in her childhood"

The biggest difference and what demons pride themselves on is being able to control their instincts, that separates them from hanyō who can lose control of their demonic blood at any moment and yokais mere beasts guided by their primitive instincts.

"Is there any danger?"

"No, fox demons mainly coexist with humans and do not feed on humans. The only thing that can happen is that it might be happier than usual or try to get into your mind just like a few moments ago, nothing too serious."

I have certainly never encountered a fox demon that is a danger, the small ones only know how to play pranks and the big ones live mainly in cities where they can hide easily. No, if we consider these last two points, I've probably never encountered one during my travels... then Akemi was right about me not knowing anything, No! All demons are the same and these are no exception.

"Ki"

"Kiky"

"Wake up!"

Managing to get out of my thoughts that are moving more and more to the extreme, I am greeted by Asahiko who at some point appeared in front of my face and one of her tails resting on my shoulder.

"What are you doing?"

Although my voice came out a few tones colder than normal, Asahiko simply shrugs and taking a few very controlled steps back in a few moments is already sitting back down. Settling back into his place, he puts on a light smile and then points towards the ground behind me with his fan, at the same time answering me in a light-hearted manner.

"I wake you up obviously. By the way, people are already starting to arrive for you to treat them."

"Weren't you in deep thoughts?

He has always said that if I wanted to know something I would simply ask him and this matter certainly catches my attention.

"Wow, how fast news travels Saya. No, it's not as bad as you may be thinking and as far as depth was concerned it was shallow in my thoughts."

Opening her fan and creating a slight breeze to cool herself, Asahiko guides one of her tails to under her chin, before closing her eyes.

I have noticed that he always does this when he is deep in thought, also when he is planning something and if he wants to appear mysterious. Did I just recognize his action? Squinting at such a situation, I notice that he opens his eyes and begins to speak.

"I was getting too worried about this thing at first, but then I remembered that I was never one to have everything under control and planned in detail. So whatever must happen and when the problem hits me in the face, I'll solve it right then and there."

"That's... too carefree."

It was impossible for me to understand his way of thinking, my life was always ruled by controlled actions thus avoiding any danger towards the pearl and the only time I deviated from my own rules ended... Badly.

"I know, I know, but it's a situation that can only be fixed with time and I have no intention of banging my head against the wall over this situation."

Letting out a sigh that covers him with his fan, he quickly closes it again and keeps it inside his clothes, before placing a smile that expels all the depressive atmosphere.

Finishing that whole series of actions, Asahiko affirms to himself, before looking at me as if he has decided something and changes his appearance with one of his multiple techniques.

"It's settled, Asahiko the great Onmyōji will give you a hand!"

"Do you even know how to bandage a wound?"

I had seen him display various skills during our travels, but I'm pretty sure medicine isn't one of those. Before I can continue down that line of thought, I watch as Asahiko raises his finger, but then lowers it, though he then raises it again and in the end sighs letting it down.

"You're right, I'm horrible at that thing in question. That wasn't what I was offering though, but using my technique to make them forget the pain."

"You can seriously do that."

"Sure, my illusions are perfect and playing with normal people's senses, it must be even easier than with mine."

So that's why even when he's in his normal form, I can sometimes feel little traces of energy dispersed through his body. Does that mean he never has his guard up when we're together? No, most likely he relies on his physical strength for any likely conflict.

"Let 's go."

"I am at your command, priestess Kikyo."

Avoiding sighing, since it's likely what he expects, I notice how his smile crumbles as he doesn't witness what he expected... Heh, serve him right... Did I just enjoy his reaction?

"Do I even see a small smile~"

"No."

"Yes what I saw Kikyo~"

Asahiko's words originate right behind my ear, though before I can have any reaction, I see him walk past me and start talking to those who just arrived.
