Invisible Security Guard

Chapter 9: Chapter 9: The Suspect

Yusuf Zuck was a bit annoyed because when he went downstairs, two more officers joined the team escorting him, as if he had become a suspect. And when they got outside the hotel, many people turned to look at him with eyes full of shock and confusion.

"What's going on?" a voice suddenly rang out. It was Ruth Wilcox, who was resting in a police car. Then she saw Yusuf being brought out. Although he wasn't handcuffed or anything, it was clear he was being escorted out.

So, she immediately jumped out of the car and asked.

As Ruth Wilcox's voice fell, three plainclothes individuals also emerged from another police car, two men and a woman. The man at the front looked to be in his forties, slightly balding, while the other man was around thirty, quite handsome. The woman had a shoulder bag.

"Nothing's wrong, he found a bomb, and we're just doing a routine statement," the balding man said while taking out a badge and hanging it on his clothes.

The badge read 'Deputy Head of Criminal Investigation Division of the Sub-bureau, James Hart.'

Another officer was named 'Miles Cooke,' sharing a name with a famous host.

The woman's badge read 'Ember Vance.'

"Hello, get in the car and we'll talk," James Hart said very seriously, making a gesture for Yusuf to follow.

"It's over, it's over, I'm suspected by you guys, damn it." Yusuf cursed softly and then got straight into an armored vehicle.

"Ember, you take the notes." Deputy Head James Hart sat across from Yusuf and asked, "What's your name?"

"Yusuf Zuck."

"Where are you from?"

"Shandong."

"Your exact address, show your ID," James Hart said.

"Didn't bring it," Yusuf answered with an edge in his voice. Although he had his ID on him, he just didn't take it out.

"Mind how you're speaking, what's with the attitude?" Ember Vance suddenly said sharply.

"What attitude? Beauty, you trying to scare me? That's my attitude, take it or leave it!" Yusuf retorted with a challenging glare at Ember Vance. This policewoman looked about his age and was also exceptionally beautiful. If she were to wear her uniform, it would certainly be a temptation.

"Take back your filthy gaze, what are you looking at?" Ember Vance almost got physical with Yusuf when she noticed him ogling her chest, thinking this little security guard was a complete hoodlum.

"Alright, don't be nervous, we don't mean anything else by this. You must know your ID number, right? Say it," James Hart suddenly smiled and signaled Yusuf to relax.

Yusuf immediately recited a string of numbers. Just as he did, the other officer named Miles Cooke took out his phone and stepped out of the car, apparently to verify the information with someone.

"How long have you been in Fengdu?" James Hart continued to question.

"Uncle, why are you asking how long I've been here? Why aren't you asking about the bomb? You suspect me, right? If that's the case, aren't you disheartening people who do good deeds? I did find the bomb, but that doesn't mean you should interrogate me like I'm a thief," Yusuf complained with a sense of injustice.

"Hmph, two teams of people, over a hundred of us, went in and found nothing. How come it was just you who found it? And you were clearly in the lobby before, right? Our Director Long even saw you. Then, in less than two minutes, you found the bomb on the third floor. Aren't you worthy of our suspicion? Could it be that you placed the bomb, and that's how you could find it so easily? So, you'd better be smart now. We ask you something, you answer. Otherwise, don't blame us for not being polite!" Ruth Vance couldn't hold back any longer and scolded sternly, thinking this little lecher wouldn't understand unless he was intimidated.

"Fine, fine, ask away," Yusuf felt the urge to curse. Wasn't doing a good deed making him a suspect now?

"How long have you been in Fengdu?" James Hart pursued the previous question.

"A whole month, I just got my salary today!" Yusuf replied irritably.

"Oh, what were you doing before? What profession? And when did you come to the Capital City?"

"Before? I've been an electrician, a taxi driver..."

"You've been a thug before, haven't you?" Suddenly, Miles Cooke, who had been on the phone, came back. He sneered and said, "Detained for administrative reasons twice, criminal detention once, three times in total, all for assault, right?"

Miles Cooke continued, "Deputy Commander, the information has come in. This guy was in and out of their hometown three times and is known for causing trouble."

"That's enough, cuff him. We'll interrogate him back at the station." Deputy Commander James Hart had made up his mind. A new security guard who had just arrived in the city a month ago, one who could find a bomb on the twenty-eighth floor within two minutes, and a man who had been detained three times—the suspicion was too great. So, it was necessary to handcuff him and take him back for formal interrogation.

"Kid, extend your hands, and let me tell you, don't resist. Otherwise, the charges will be more severe," said Miles Cooke as he pulled out his handcuffs.

"I didn't place the bomb; check the surveillance footage if you don't believe me," Yusuf Zuck said urgently.

"Hmph, just because you didn't place it doesn't mean you're unrelated to the bomb. You'd better not move!" Ember Vance said coldly and snorted.

"Are you fucking crazy? All I did was find the bomb. Is it wrong to find a bomb too?" The veins on Yusuf Zuck's neck bulged, his frustration palpable. He had finally done a good deed but was now being treated as a suspect. He felt more wronged than Dou E herself.

He also subconsciously feared being taken into custody, so his reaction was a bit over the top. His fists were clenched tightly, as if he was about to start a fight.

"Watch your mouth and put your hands out," Miles Cooke, holding the handcuffs, said sharply, while Ember Vance had her hand on her waist, ready to draw her gun at any moment.

"Ms. Wilcox, Ms. Wilcox, save me!" Yusuf Zuck knew that at this moment, only the beautiful boss could save him. Moreover, it had to be her, because after all, it was for her sake that he had been searching for the bomb.

"Stop, what are you doing?" Ruth Wilcox had been watching the situation and immediately ran over when she saw the people in the car seemed about to handcuff Yusuf Zuck.

"Ms. Wilcox, we need to take this security guard back for investigation. He has prior convictions, and we suspect he's involved in this bomb incident."

"Bullshit. Can you explain yourself? What prior convictions do I have? I've been in fights before, not planting bombs. Are you trying to frame me? Ms. Wilcox, let me tell you, I was the one who found the bomb just now. But even finding the bomb is a mistake now? They suspect it was me who planted it; even jumping into the Yellow River wouldn't clean me of this accusation."

"It's impossible that he planted it!" Ruth Wilcox immediately shook her head.

"Maybe he has accomplices? His accomplice planted it, so he knew the location!" Ember Vance suggested.

"That's still impossible!" Ruth Wilcox shook her head again, instinctively feeling it couldn't have been Yusuf Zuck.

"We still need to take him in to assist the investigation!" Ember Vance said with a huff.

Ruth Wilcox just gave Ember Vance a cold look and then turned and walked away.

"Hey, Ms. Wilcox, don't go, tell them to let me go."

"Stay calm and wait," Ruth Wilcox turned back and glared at Yusuf Zuck.

"Hmph, even getting Commander Long won't help you. You're a suspect, and we must take you in," Ember Vance snorted at Ruth Wilcox's retreating figure.

"Officer, must be that time of the month for you, huh?"

With a "whoosh" sound, just as Yusuf Zuck's voice faded, Ember Vance actually drew her gun, turned off the safety, and pointed it straight at Yusuf Zuck's forehead.

"Say that again?" Ember Vance said, raising her eyebrows.

"You, with your premenstrual syndrome. If you're brave, shoot. If you don't shoot, you were birthed by me, and I'll **** from now on!" Yusuf Zuck's stubbornness had already kicked in, so how could he be frightened by Ember Vance's threats?

"I'll kill you, you scum, kill you... you scumbag..." Ember Vance was thoroughly enraged by Yusuf Zuck's words. Her eyes reddened with anger. She was still a young girl, and this little security guard not only ogled her with disrespect but also openly insulted her. Her blood boiling, she lost all restraint and swung her gun butt down in a frenzy.

"Bang—bang—bang—" She struck down without distinction, and Yusuf Zuck didn't move or hide at all, letting Ember Vance hit him continuously. Even as he did so, a mocking smile lingered on his lips.
