Chapter 42: 42. Yokai
"A-Ah! Um no " The girl was a bit embarrassed as she had her head down while telling the kind brother in front of her she was fine.
She didn't know why but she found his scent very pleasant, as nice as her mother's.
"Hmm, that's good. My name is Vivian and what's your name young miss " Vivian asked with a smile.
" K-Kunou " Kunou was a bit shy especially since she saw so many beautiful aunties with the big brother, she felt embarrassed for stuttering.
" Nice to meet you Kunou-chan and I'm sorry for bumping into you earlier," Vivian said softly as he apologised, although it was not his fault he didn't mind comforting a child.
Vivian forgot that he was also a child but he couldn't be blamed as his rate of development was far superior to children of his age whether it be human or supernatural.
" A-Ah It's okay Onii-san! " Kunou said a bit shyly as she had her head down.
" Is that so, then that's fine. Where are your parents? Did you get lost? " Vivian asked with concern as a small girl like her running around alone in such a crowded place was a bit dangerous.
Even if she might be someone from the supernatural side, it was much more dangerous that way as stray devils and many psychotic supernatural beings might make her a target.
Thus he wondered if he should let her tag along with his entourage to look for her guardian. While Vivian was in the process of making his decision he heard a relieved voice from the side causing him to look at a person who seemed to be looking for Kunou.
" Kunou-sama! There you are! Please don't run off without telling us " A gruff-looking man said to Kunoe in a begging tone as his voice contained helplessness and desperation.
If something were to happen to the young lady he was sure that her mother would have his head on a spike. He shuddered when he thought of their leader.
Even if she looked gentle and graceful, there was no argument that behind that seemingly kind mask was a fierce Yokai who led the most influential Yokai faction in Japan.
You don't get to that kind of position by being a saint. As much as the Yokai admired and maybe had desires for their leader, none of them dared to show it or voice it.
Since Yasaka no Okami was not someone they could think about....
.....
" Thank you for your assistance " Genji bowed to Vivian and his entourage respectfully as a sign of courtesy.
{ Yep he has a name now cuz I didn't want him to be 'The man' }
He could vaguely feel that the people in front of him were far from ordinary but he didn't pry too much into it as they seemed to just want to enjoy the festival so it shouldn't be a problem.
Still, he would have to report it to Lady Yasaka after he was done guarding Kunou-sama.
Genji wasn't a fan of anime or comics or he would have known that he had raised a red flag through his thoughts.
But he would only know of it later...
...
"Vivian" Venelana called out to her son after Kunou and her guard had left.
" Mom?" Vivian gazed at his mom curiously.
"Did you feel something, baby? " Venelana asked her son softly while she patted his head.
She already had an idea of the identity of the child she met today, but she was curious if her son also knew something, since Vivian was also part Youkai.
Although he hasn't shown any abilities related to Yokai she was sure he should be able to use them and hoped maybe letting him mingle with some Yokai would help.
She hadn't brought him here just to attend the festival, it was one of the reasons but she also hoped to meet an acquaintance that could help her with Vivian.
She had met the leader of the West Youkai faction years ago and both of them were aware of each other's presence.
Since Yasaka was also a strong woman, Venelana had naturally met her. In the supernatural community, the strong naturally have connections one way or another.
Hopefully, Venelana could do something for Vivian since they also had Kuroka who could be said to be acquainted with the East Youkai faction it could serve as bridge while asking for help. Venelana had taken her to meet her mother's teacher who had been guiding Kuroka for the past year.
Money and strength can solve a lot of things and Nurarihyon had no reason to refuse her request, not like he would dare to since Tiamat was the one who went with Kuroka.
It's not like she was being a bully but Nurarihyon really had no reason to refuse Kuroka, but since he had a reputation for being a bit arrogant and a bit of a troll, Venelana sent Tiamat along since her name was well known in the supernatural circle.
She didn't want him trying to play tricks on her, which would end up with her blasting him with her POD and it ending up as a huge battle.
She didn't want to end up causing casualties to Nurarihyon and his entourage because her purpose was to get the assistance of Magari....
