Chapter 64: 64 Huge Fan
A Tongue Warrior is someone who uses the power of their tongue to fight. These individuals determine their rank based on their mastery of tongue creativity.
Altair had also learned this fighting style, though his experience was still limited. He couldn't yet be considered a Grand Tongue Warrior, but he had grasped the basics of tongue manipulation.
Demonstrating his tongue abilities to Bete, Altair eagerly anticipated the werewolf's reaction. Would he accept the challenge and face him in battle, or would he sneer and spit in contempt?
However, to Altair's surprise, the brainless werewolf didn't get angry or speak. Instead, after glancing at Altair's dialogue board, Bete grinned.
"That's right, I rely on myself, unlike you losers who can't do anything without someone else's help."
[Uh, what...]
Altair looked at Bete's wide grin and fell silent for a moment.
Did this guy not understand what I was saying?
It seemed like he really didn't get it. Bete's thought process was too straightforward, incapable of grasping any nuance!
Altair felt a bit speechless. The foundation of a Tongue Warrior's powers is that the opponent understands their words. That way, the opponent can be provoked. But if the other party doesn't understand, and there's no audience to explain, the power of the tongue is significantly reduced. It can even create situations where the enemy doesn't feel awkward, but you yourself do.
Right now, Altair feels pretty awkward.
"Hey, trash, hurry up and crawl back to the upper levels. This isn't where you belong!"
With that, Bete ignored Altair and turned away, following Ais Wallenstein, who had already started moving deeper into the dungeon. Lefiya, the ranged unit, was also walking beside Ais. As a member of the same party, Bete had to keep up with them. He had no interest in dealing with someone as weak as Altair.
Watching the trio head deeper into the dungeon, Altair rubbed his chin thoughtfully.
He was quite familiar with the Loki Familia and knew most of its members. This was a typical Loki Familia dungeon team; a ditzy one-handed sword fighter, a prideful dual-wielding brute, and a delusional elf with a serious Ais obsession.
The lineup seemed chaotic, but in reality, the core of the team was that ditzy one-handed sword user.
As one of the main forces of the Loki Familia, Ais was highly regarded by Loki and held in great expectation. Meanwhile, the delusional elf, Lefiya, was being groomed as a successor by Riveria, the Vice-Captain of the Familia, due to her powerful magic. She was set to become a formidable firepower mage in the future. As for the werewolf Bete…
As mentioned earlier, he wasn't a bad person at heart, but his mouth was awful, always offending people. He was still a core frontline for the Familia.
After their expedition, the three of them had come down to the dungeon together to farm monsters. This was an opportunity Altair could take advantage of.
Thinking of their common traits, Altair quickly lifted his legs and followed them. He planned to stay behind them and reap some benefits.
Their destination wasn't just the 20th floor. Two of them were Level 5s, so they wouldn't be held back by the 20th floor. The third one, though only a Level 3, had a special skill that made her magic attacks extremely powerful. In terms of attack power, she was on par with Level 5s.
These were three very useful laborers!
Following behind them, Altair didn't rush to approach. He kept a fair distance, making sure not to lose them. Even if they noticed him, it didn't matter, as long as he wasn't left behind. The current floor was filled with minotaurs, which wasn't suitable for Altair to perform at his best. He'd wait until they reached a floor without goat-headed monsters... then it would be his time to shine.
Throughout the 20th floor, Altair didn't make a move. He just followed them openly, walking right behind them. The three noticed him, but every time Bete wanted to say something, Altair would raise his signboard.
[I'm just watching, not getting involved.]
This I'm just tagging along attitude infuriated Bete, but he couldn't be bothered to deal with a weakling like Altair, so he grudgingly tolerated Altair trailing them from a distance.
Ais, being uninterested in things that didn't catch her attention, didn't care about Altair. As for Lefiya, her eyes were glued to Ais the whole time, completely ignoring Altair.
Finally, after following them, Altair reached the 21st floor.
Oh~~ how wonderful!
The first monster he saw on the 21st floor wasn't a goat! And let's emphasize that—it wasn't a goat!
The goats had stopped here!
Seeing the monster without any goat-like features, Altair smiled in satisfaction. Then, he drew his lightsaber, spun his legs, and swiftly overtook the trio ahead of him.
As Altair launched into action, Bete, who had been keeping an eye on him, was momentarily stunned. His instincts made him think that Altair was about to ambush them, but it didn't matter... he was ready to counter and take Altair down. What he didn't expect, though, was for Altair to shoot past him like a blur, heading straight for the monster that had spawned.
"Hey! Get out of the way!"
In Bete's eyes, Altair, who couldn't even handle a goat on the upper floors, stood no chance against the monsters on the 21st floor. The deeper the dungeon, the stronger the monsters became.
However, before Bete could finish his sentence, he saw a blue lightsaber appear in Altair's right hand. The weapon left a long trail in the air as it cleaved the monster's head from its body in one swift strike.
While Bete remained frozen in a stiff, hand-extended posture, about to hurl insults, Altair calmly crouched down, picked up the magic stone left behind by the monster's disintegrating body, and tossed it into his 4D Pocket.
"You... who the hell are you?"
Bete, now discarding his earlier contempt, glared at Altair with eyes full of hostility.
This guy, he's strong! But when facing a goat earlier, he deliberately held back. Was it all a ploy to get closer to him?
Which Familia is he from? What's his motive for approaching him? Does he have the guts to challenge the Loki Familia?
But, facing Bete's questions, Altair simply raised his left hand, holding up the dialogue board with an excited expression.
[Bete-san, I'm a huge fan of yours!]
