Isekai: The Eight Soul Fragments

Chapter 15: In Kindness, There Is Evil

When the three returned to the inn, there was a heavy atmosphere as Draxus immediately went to his room. He didn't bother giving Crystel a greeting as he felt panicked and down. Crystel who noticed the off behavior from Draxus immediately asked the two that arrived with him. "D-Did something happen? Lily? Julie?" The two stared at Draxus as he went up the stairs. "Ah... We're back Crystel..." The first one to reply was Julie. It was around halfway to eighteen o'clock when they arrived. The sun just started to set with their speechless behavior. "He was... A little scary..." Lily muttered out lightly but it was heard by Crystel. "Just what happened...?" She shook the twins which got them back to reality. "Ah! My bad, we're home Crystel." Lily gave a greeting to Crystel which was a bit more energetic. "You two, come here for a bit." Crystel pulled them by the hand towards the back of the inn. "Tell me what happened." Lily and Julie looked down with sadness found on their faces. The first one to muster the courage to speak was Lily, with her personality that will break through the front, she faced the fear and answered. "The request was finished really smoothly..." Julie, who was the opportunist, took the opportunity and added more detail. "However, just as we are about to go back here... With bad luck, those three showed up..." Crystel who once had to deal with them trying to enter the inn at midnight, the three muscled men floated on her mind. "You mean those guys from [Vermillion Warriors]?" Lily answered with a nod, Julie tried to open her mouth and give details as to what had happened but the fear got over her. Lily who saw her sister quiver tapped her shoulder and shook her head slowly. "Crystel... You see, Draxus had saved us from them... But his magic... And how he used it... Was scary..." Julie simply closed her eyes from worry or fear that was different. The fear that they both showed, was the fear that Draxus may unable to face them for showing something scary. It was like losing a new friend that you got close with. "So he became your hero? And ran away because he became a hero?" Crystel brought out her thoughts which was corrected by Julie. "He thought, he showed something that he shouldn't have..." Crystel smiled and tapped on their shoulders. "You two, I guess you need to talk properly to Draxus. Ask him how he feels, or if he regrets any of his actions. Were you bothered by his violent act?" When Crystel asked that question, the twins turned their gazes downwards. "I don't think so... Rather, it looked kinda cool when he got mad for us..." Lily expressed her feelings of appreciation of being saved from the hooligans. The same went for Julie who expressed it a little differently. "I felt really happy... When he stopped the hand of one guy that gripped my shoulder..." Crystel's smile went deeper and told them reassuring words. "Seems like both of you picked a nice man?" When the twins heard that, both of them blushed a little and slightly panicked. Crystel showed a smug face in her mind and told them to wait for dinner. They reentered the inn and the twins went to their rooms to wait for dinner.

On the other hand Draxus who instantly went up to his room immediately laid down on his bed. He was showing deep regret over his lack of self-control. "What have I done...?" Those words came out from his mouth as he started thinking about all the possibilities that could ever happen now that he got way too violent in front of young friends. However, the fact that this is a [World of Fantasy] has been removed from his mind. If he managed to remember that, he would realize that even people at the age of fifteen can already handle any kind of gore. But with his mindset still not completely adapted to the new world, he tends to escape from the violence that he caused and crash mentally. He was having a kind heart to them, but with the thoughts of having new friends getting hurt by other people had already become a major issue. It was something that cultivated over the past few years over his protective nature. It was something that's dark over Draxus, inside that kindness of his, the fact that he's a man of insanity is still there. Which is why he was pretty much unable to forgive himself. "I should... Apologize to them..." He had already apologized, but it wasn't a proper apology. Draxus wanted to show only the side of kindness in him and never the darkness that had scared many people away from him. To make it clearer, it was trauma. Draxus continued to stay on the bed while feeling dread as the sun sets on the horizon. A knock was heard on the door to his room notifying him that dinner was ready, but he didn't hear anything as he took out his headset and listened to calming music. He had the look of despair, while slowly swaying his head and closed his eyes. "Draxus?" Crystel's voice came through the door, but Draxus didn't respond as he was focused on the music. After some time, the door was opened but Draxus couldn't hear anything. His eyes were closed so he also didn't see anything. He was completely in isolation while swaying slowly. Crystel entered the room warily and placed his dinner on top of his table, which has his laptop over it. "W-What is this object...?" Crystel was careful since there is a possibility that Draxus will get mad if she broke anything. "H-Heavy... I should just move this..." She moved the laptop to a safer spot so that it won't fall off. It was far from the edge and she moved it even farther from the edge so she can place the meal. After doing all that, she noticed that Draxus was still doing the same thing. "Somehow... Does that ornament block sound...?" But since Draxus was in isolationist state, he didn't answer at all. "I guess I'll ask him when he's fine." She left the room while leaving a note below his plate.

Later on, Draxus had taken off his headset and noticed the meal on the table first. He quickly ate it and noticed the note below the plate. "[Hey, they're worried about you so you should talk to them soon kay? ~Crystel] So they're worried about me huh...? I surely thought they'd be terrified by me but..." Draxus took out his phone and checked the time. "Twenty-one, forty-eight... Uwah... My dinner is extremely late..." He knew that everybody would be completely asleep at that point. He decided to simply browse the net until he got sleepy.

The next morning, he woke up at four midnight which was pretty early. That allowed Draxus to train heavily on his movements while clearing up his mind by staring at the moon. "Now that I think about it... Were they bothered in the first place...?" Draxus had finally come to realize that he's in a different world with different common sense. "I should throw away my sense from my old world..." He stood up and practiced his control on ice magic once again. He didn't stop practicing until sunrise came. When sunrise came, Crystel came out to the back of the inn bringing tea. "You knew I was here...?" Crystel simply smiled and poured a cup of tea for him. "Yeah, well, your magic kinda gave it away." Draxus scratched his head as one person had seen his secret of chantless. "It looked quite beautiful though. Was that your training?" Draxus gave her truthful answers since it won't really harm him. "Yeah, it was my training regime to increase my mana capacity, so it was necessary." Crystel let out a voice of interest but decided to not probe in further. She changed the topic to what happened yesterday and asked him from his side. "So, I want to know what you did yesterday." Draxus simply smiled and answered her honestly. "I got pissed, like really pissed when those men tried to take the two... Now that I've gained friends, I don't want them to be hurt at all. So when somebody tries something like that, I get really mad and snap." After listening to the full details which included breaking an arm, Crystel was a bit shocked with how graphic Draxus broke the arm of one of the guys. "Better be careful, those guys are the type that will come back for revenge you know? Rather, what's up with you? I called out to you many times and you couldn't even hear me!" Crystel voiced out her complaints regarding Draxus's isolationist state last night. "My bad... It's just impossible for me to hear when I am wearing it." Crystel facepalmed and already knew that it was the case. "I figured it would be that after all... Look, go talk to the twins alright?" Crystel added pressure to her words which got Draxus to comply. After drinking tea, Draxus told Crystel that he'll go meet his other friends and return before breakfast. He walked around the town and met Keith once again. "Yo Drax, a little too early to wait for those that want revenge you know?" Draxus was wearing semi-formal clothing this time with his jacket and headphones with him. Apparently, Keith was around when Draxus snapped which got him a little embarrassed. "Twins as harem members?" Draxus immediately retorted from Keith's remark. "Dahell ya talkin about?" After walking around, they left the town for a bit because they noticed presences watching them. Wesley showed up midway and accompanied them.

"Numbered about twenty or thirty... They'll attack once we leave the town, so be on your guard." Wesley told them the number of people that are planning to attack them. "What's the plan, leader of us sentinels?" Keith smiled as he asked about the plan. "Since we're townspeople, let's just crush their hearts and make sure they never come back through extreme shame and threats once we beat them all up." Keith and Wesley's smile deepened a little as they prepare to battle against many people. "Let's bring out the [Evil in kindness] inside us, sentinels."
