Jellyfish dragon

Chapter 12: The gardener

The snow-white silk wraps around Tsung Yue's uncomfortable yet oddly familiar body, making her feel a little bit more at ease. They were still underwater, as she and Hairong were discussing what to do now that the pearl was under protection from mysterious barrels that seemed to be impenetrable. Tsung Yue was deep in thought as she held her palm against her cheek while she asks;

-"Do you think you can fix it?"

-"No, but I think I know someone who can…"

Hairong spoke, as she mentioned the one she seemed to recall. Hairong has been in this universe for many, many years, and during those times, she has met plenty of people, spirits, dragons and so on. Of course, there should be someone who can help them.

-"Who?"

-"Me."

A mysterious voice spoke in their heads, but their presence was unknown. It seems like they have been listening to their discussions for some time now. Not after a while, the voice muttered again.

-"Your existence has started to conquer the land once more, Tsung Yue. Your achievements are to be expected, so I cannot say that I'm too proud."

Tsung Yue's face scrunches up in confusion and irritation. She was already too fed up with these mysterious words from her dream and reality that seemed to know more about her than herself, yet so secretive. They always sounded so…confident.

-"And who would you be? Where did you come from? Shut your trap and show yourself already! I need to know whose face I need to slap…"

-"Yue, I don't think you should talk so blatantly to someone you don't know."

Hairong spoke, even though she's known for her straightforwardness, but you should know, there's a fine line between insulting and being honest.

-"Wait, you're on their side?"

-"I'm not on any of them, why should there be sides anyway?"

-"I don't know…I'm just tired of everyone speaking in riddles. Does it kill them to be a little bit clearer?"

Tsung Yue mumbled in tiredness and annoyance. She just wants to understand what's going on.

-"It is not your time to understand, Tsung Yue. Even if you did, it'll all be too overwhelming for you."

The voice spoke up again, their tone still neutral.

-"If you're going to stay useless and act like a walking, talking question mark, then at least show me who I'm messing with, and this is not the first time I'm telling you to come out, you know it."

Tsung Yue said in a little dominant tone, even though it was unlikely for her to lash out at a stranger, but she was already at her last straw from staying in the dark for too long.

-"…Very well."

Not too long after the voice spoke, a teal-colored light appeared before them. It was a stark contrast to the dark blue hues under the ocean, so it was much clearer for Hairong and Tsung Yue to see.

From the light, a white-haired woman comes out. Her hair was flowing like grass under a breeze, the loosely braided strands glowing under their gazes. In general, her entire being was glowing, so much that one could mistake her for a goddess. On both of her cheeks, they could see two green dots in the middle that accentuated her face. Her eyes were closed, and she held a gentle smile. Even though she was wearing many layered robes that could be seen as modest clothing, it was barely noticeable due to the glow of her entire being.

-"It's been a while, Tsung Yue. Did you miss me?"

-"Um, excuse me, who are you??"

-"I am the gardener."
