Chapter 41: Chapter 41: Return
In the icy depths, Liu Erlong turned towards Meng Bei, using her martial soul to illuminate the darkness. For the first time, she gazed earnestly at him, as if trying to etch every detail into her memory.
His handsome face, youthful vigor, and striking blue eyes captivated her. She chuckled self-deprecatingly.
"With a partner like this, it feels like I'm the one benefiting."
Unable to resist, Liu Erlong leaned in, her lips brushing against his.
"Stop, Aunt Erlong, I already have a girlfriend!" Meng Bei protested, feigning resistance.
Liu Erlong, far stronger than him, pressed him down effortlessly.
"Little brat, still pretending? You've already exposed yourself!"
...
Over the following days, Liu Erlong initially held back slightly, but by the third or fourth day, she completely immersed herself in her emotions.
Time became meaningless. Days blurred into nights as they shared warmth and vulnerability.
Nestled in Meng Bei's arms, Liu Erlong entwined her legs with his, as if trying to merge into him completely. She had grown utterly devoted to him, her lifeline in the isolation and cold. His care and companionship rejuvenated her, erasing her previous sickly pallor. Her once pale skin now glowed with vitality, and she felt more beautiful than ever.
However, Liu Erlong's growing affection for Meng Bei brought her a touch of sorrow. Despite her devotion, she knew his heart still lingered on someone else.
"You're still thinking about your little girlfriend out there, aren't you?" she teased. "Do you really think she'll find us in time? By the time she does, we'll already be long gone."
Meng Bei sighed, his voice heavy with hesitation.
"But..."
"But what?" Liu Erlong interrupted, placing his hand on her chest. "Feel this, Meng Bei. I've given you everything. Is there any falsehood in my feelings?"
His hand rested on her heart, feeling its steady, genuine rhythm.
"Aunt Erlong, I…" Meng Bei began, but his words were interrupted by a sudden noise from the ice wall.
Both froze in anticipation, rushing toward the sound. On the other side of the ice, a white spirit beast had begun tunneling through. It was just meters away from breaking through the barrier.
Meng Bei's face lit up.
"It's a miracle! I don't know what kind of beast this is, but it's digging us a way out!" he exclaimed.
Liu Erlong's face mirrored his joy, nodding fervently.
But as the sound of their voices echoed, the spirit beast hesitated, startled by the noise. With a frantic burst of energy, it turned and fled, tunneling in a different direction.
Their excitement turned to dismay as the creature disappeared into the icy depths.
However, hope remained. The spirit beast's excavation had weakened the ice significantly, leaving only a thin layer for them to break through.
Liu Erlong mustered her martial soul, summoning flames to melt the remaining ice. With Meng Bei providing warmth, she no longer needed to conserve her soul power to stave off the cold. Slowly but surely, the barrier began to melt.
As the final layer thinned, Liu Erlong abruptly paused. She turned, pounced on Meng Bei, and kissed him fiercely.
Only after an intense and passionate exchange did she reluctantly rise. With one fiery punch, she shattered the last of the ice, allowing fresh air to flow into the cavern.
"We're free!" she exclaimed.
Stepping into the open air, the harsh winds of the Far North were nothing compared to the icy depths they had endured. Despite the chill, sunlight warmed their faces, and the promise of survival lifted their spirits.
Still, Liu Erlong lingered in Meng Bei's arms, reluctant to let go.
"Let me hold you a little longer," she whispered. "Just one last time. I promise I won't interfere in your life when we return."
Her voice was tinged with sadness. She knew she had no place in Meng Bei's future. While she was strong, she felt overshadowed by the young, vibrant Ning Rongrong. Returning to the world, she resolved to step aside and let Meng Bei live his life.
But Meng Bei surprised her.
He gently pushed her away, and for a moment, her heart sank. Yet before she could react, he tilted her chin upward and kissed her deeply.
...
Not long after, a crimson dragon soared above the Far North, flying toward Heaven Dou City. Meng Bei rode on its back, the wind rushing past him.
"Aunt Erlong," he called out, "once I become a Titled Douluo, I will marry you."
"What about that little girl, Ning Rongrong?" Liu Erlong asked, raising an eyebrow.
Meng Bei's answer was simple: "Both."
Liu Erlong roared in mock fury.
"You little brat! You've got some nerve!"
Meng Bei hugged her neck tightly, grinning.
"I don't care! You were the one who started this. You can't back out now!"
Two days later, the pair returned to Blue Tyrant Academy.
By the time they arrived, nearly two months had passed since their departure. Their prolonged absence had stirred concern among the academy's students and staff, particularly Ning Rongrong and Xiao Wu, who had grown increasingly anxious.
Ning Rongrong had even sought the help of her father, Ning Fengzhi, who dispatched a team of powerful soul masters to search for Meng Bei.
Meanwhile, back at Shrek Academy, the others—along with the Grandmaster—had begun their journey to Heaven Dou City, setting the stage for their eventual reunion.
