Chapter 227: The Troublesome Princess
Chapter 227: The Troublesome Princess
Jun Yunshang’s newly gathered courage instantly vanished, and she quickly shook her head and waved her hands.
“Nothing, really…”
She was afraid that if she told the truth, Lin Fengmian would dislike her. She also feared that their relationship would become awkward, especially now that she felt she had finally gotten a bit closer to him.
Seeing her timid and hesitant demeanor, Lin Fengmian couldn’t help but sigh heavily. “As a member of the royal family, your character will eventually cause you to be completely taken advantage of.”
“I know I can be indecisive…” Jun Yunshang tried to explain, but Lin Fengmian cut her off.
“You are indeed indecisive and overly merciful! Great achievers do not get bogged down by trivialities.”
“But I just can’t do it,” Jun Yunshang said, her voice filled with distress.
Lin Fengmian said coldly, “You always think that others will repay you with kindness. Think about it, if it weren’t for me, what would have been your fate after letting Ye Ling escape?”
“Kindness is fine, but it must be used at the right time. The higher your position, the more careful you have to be in your decisions. If you were just an ordinary person, the worst that could happen is death.”
“But your status is different. Every action you take will cause significant ripples, so every decision must be made with the utmost caution.”
Jun Yunshang lowered her head, silently listening to Lin Fengmian’s words and gave a dejected nod.
Lin Fengmian said no more and closed his eyes to meditate.
The next morning, Lin Fengmian opened his eyes and saw Jun Yunshang lying on a fox fur, curled up in a corner like a small cat. Sensing the movement, she jumped up, startled like a frightened kitten. She let out a long breath when she saw Lin Fengmian, clearly this pampered woman had never experienced such hardship before.
Lin Fengmian pointed to the corner of her mouth and couldn’t help but chuckle, “You were drooling.”
Jun Yunshang exclaimed in surprise, quickly wiped her mouth, and blushed as she stood up to tidy up her clothes. A moment later, she had transformed back into the well-mannered princess of the imperial family.
“Do you find it tiring to always maintain your so-called princess demeanor?” Lin Fengmian asked curiously.
“I am used to it; propriety cannot be abandoned,” Jun Yunshang replied in a formal tone.
Lin Fengmian shook his head. “You all live such a hard life. Come on, I’ll take you out to kill some people.”
Jun Yunshang blinked her large eyes, taken aback.
It wasn’t until Lin Fengmian carried her on a flying boat and started hunting down their pursuers, and she saw the blood and gore before her, that she came to her senses. At least she didn’t plead for Lin Fengmian to spare their lives, showing that she had taken his words from the night before to heart.
The two of them continued their journey, and Jun Yunshang remained silent. It wasn’t until her stomach growled that she broke the silence.
At first, Lin Fengmian didn’t think much of it, but when he noticed that her stomach kept rumbling, he realized that she hadn’t taken a fasting pill.
“Don’t you have a fasting pill?” Lin Fengmian asked in surprise.
Jun Yunshang’s face turned red, and she sheepishly shook her head. “The fasting pills are with Elder Huang; I didn’t bring any.”
Lin Fengmian sighed and slapped his forehead. Since Luo Xue didn’t have any either, and at her cultivation level, she didn’t need them.
He steered the flying boat downward and killed a wild boar in the forest, then started a fire to cook it.
“I’m sorry…”
Jun Yunshang felt extremely embarrassed, but she was too hungry to care.
“There’s nothing to be ashamed of. Eating is a basic human need,” Lin Fengmian said casually.
“Here!”
As he spoke, he handed over a roasted leg of wild boar. At this moment, in Jun Yunshang’s eyes, he suddenly became so dazzling.
Touched, Jun Yunshang took the wrapped boar leg and took a small bite. Her smile froze instantly.
She looked like she wanted to vomit but didn’t dare, her eyebrows furrowed.
“It tastes terrible!”
This wasn’t how the game was supposed to go. Wasn’t the young hero supposed to have exceptional roasting skills?
“It can’t be. I’ve never roasted before, but it should be right.”
Lin Fengmian was taken aback for a moment, then he picked up the other boar leg and took a bite. Instantly, the taste of blood, meat, mud, and smoke exploded in his mouth.
His brain shook!
Lin Fengmian could still endure it, but Luo Xue’s pampered body couldn’t. She instinctively threw up.
“Damn it, how can it be so bad! Spit it out quickly, don’t eat yourself sick.”
As he spoke, he took several gulps from the wine flask to get rid of the awful taste.
Jun Yunshang couldn’t hold it in any longer and turned around to vomit the pork.
Seeing that she still looked uncomfortable, Lin Fengmian handed her the wine flask.
“Rinse your mouth with this.”
Jun Yunshang took the bottle and drank a few sips. Looking at the flask they had both drunk from, her face turned red.
Noticing her flushed face, Lin Fengmian asked curiously, “Can’t you handle alcohol?”
Jun Yunshang stammered, “I have a low tolerance for alcohol.”
Lin Fengmian, holding the flask, took another sip in disbelief. His shock was immense.
“This is not right. This is definitely spring water. Don’t lie to me, are you okay?”
Jun Yunshang let out a small “Ah” and tasted the remaining flavor in her mouth.
It did taste like water.
“Spring water? Isn’t this wine?”
“Um, this is actually just spring water. Are you really okay?”
Lin Fengmian had to admit that he had been drinking water, feeling extremely embarrassed.
Jun Yunshang’s face turned even redder. She turned away and shook her head, “I’m fine.”
“Why is your face so red? Are you poisoned?” Lin Fengmian pressed, determined to get an answer.
Jun Yunshang, irritated and embarrassed, glared at him, “Alcohol doesn’t intoxicate, people do. Understand?”
Lin Fengmian let out an “Oh” and said speechlessly, “I understand, but it’s the first time I’ve seen someone get drunk on spring water.”
Jun Yunshang muttered softly, “This is also the first time I have seen someone drink spring water from a wine bottle. Why did you put spring water in a wine bottle?”
“I like it!” Lin Fengmian blushed and tried to remain calm.
“Oh, I see. You can’t drink alcohol, right?”
Jun Yunshang beamed like a little fox, as if she had discovered a major secret.
“Stop talking nonsense!”
Lin Fengmian looked at the charred wild boar and changed the subject, “I’ll find something else to eat.”
Seeing Lin Fengmian’s hasty departure, Jun Yunshang giggled and laughed mischievously.
A moment later, the two of them were flying on their boat, eating the spiritual fruits that Lin Fengmian had picked. Although the taste was a bit bland, it was still enough to satisfy their hunger.
Lin Fengmian thought that this was the most troublesome part, but while they were flying, Luo Xue suddenly reminded him.
“Lin Fengmian, she hasn’t reached the Core Formation Realm yet, just like you in that world. She hasn’t fully mastered abstaining from food.”
Lin Fengmian was taken aback for a moment before he realized the situation. Looking at Jun Yunshang, whose face was slightly flushed, he helplessly shook his head.
Suddenly, he descended, landed in an uninhabited forest, and jumped down.
“There is no one within a hundred miles. I have to relieve myself. Wait for me here.”
He took Zhen Yuan from Jun Yunshang’s embrace and left, leaving her alone.
