Jojo's : A Bizarre Journey

Chapter 26: #26 - New Day

A/N: What do you guys think about the new cover? I used AI to make it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

It's a new morning.

A familiar ceiling greets me.

Well, It's just the ceiling of my room.

I don't need to do so many theatrics for the start of the day, but it feels a bit anti-climatic to just wake up normally after all that happened yesterday.

I'm not saying I need a problem every day, I'm just saying.

Is this how Peter Parker feels after going to another galaxy, solving a problem, and then going back to beat up low-level grunts?

Anyway, I get up slowly.

I'm in my pajamas, so I change into common attire.

It's a normal shirt and normal shorts.

I wanted to wear a sleeveless shirt, but those weren't popular until the 1920s.

And sure, I could've just taken off the sleeves of a normal shirt, but it becomes a problem of decorum then.

People of my social standing can't be seen wearing things that expose too much skin.

Something I learned through George, who values appearances a lot.

It's 6 am so the sun isn't so bright.

The ones awake in the mansion are mostly servants, and probably George if he didn't go to sleep.

You're probably asking, What am I doing so early in the morning?

Well, Have you ever seen how certain mc that had some character development like to wake up early and go for morning runs?

If you haven't, then you're about to see one.

I'm trying to go for runs now and then, but it's hard considering that I have school in the morning, so I mostly do it on weekends or holidays.

It's not so much of a hassle, as my body is strong and energetic enough which makes this a walk in the park.

And if I'm feeling lazy, then it becomes a literal walk.

Not in a park though, but around the mansion.

Jack will probably wake up around 9 am, so I have 3 hours to kill before he wakes up.

In these three hours, I want to think back on the things I didn't think about yesterday.

Also, I should make something like a road map for today.

First, let me see the quest that I didn't claim yet.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

[Quest: The Masters Of Hamon]

Through your actions, you will soon be in a fight with important individuals for the progression of the new fate of this world

**The Results of this quest will have consequences on the fate of the world**

**You will receive indications about your reward as you finish the quest**

Tasks:

-Kill or Neutralize Straizo (1/1)

-Kill or Neutralize Dire (1/1)

Failure conditions:

- Die Against one of the Hamon masters (0/1)

- Let your companion die against one of the Hamon masters (0/1)

-----------------------------------------------------------------

It says "New fate".

So it already has a new fate, one without Dio in it.

This might prove to be a problem, what if something weird happens?

I already forgot most of the Kars problem, as it's basically solved, so I really can't think about any other.

It's unnerving and annoying, but I can't do anything about it.

The result having consequences in the fate is already stated in the quest prompt so I won't go over that.

The tasks are really simple to understand, fight or die basically.

The first failure condition is as simple too.

The second one confuses me a little.

"Why is that a failure condition?" I say while resting against one of the trees around.

I don't want to sound uncaring, but what does Jack surviving or not have to do with the success of the quest?

Straizo and Dire would've died and I wouldn't, so it should be quest finished.

What can I guess about this?

Fate? Doesn't seem likely.

...

And yeah, that's it, I don't have any other guess.

It feels a bit restricting that I can't let Jack die, but I guess it's fine if the failure conditions keep on being things that I wouldn't do either way.

Like becoming Dio's ally, and now, letting Jack die.

Let's leave that aside and have a look at the rewards now.

Two good rewards or 1 very good reward?

The answer is really clear, even if it doesn't look like it.

The very good reward.

As I said yesterday, it's something like one A-class item and one B-class item.

If I pick that reward, the A-class one may prove useful, but I don't know too much about the B-class.

This is the first time I've gotten a quest that will directly give me items, so I don't know what to expect as a B-class.

What if it ends up being useless, or subpar?

Like getting another scarf, or getting a stone mask, or an arrow.

I can't say if those are B-class or A-class though.

So it's better to go safe and do S-class.

I made my decision, so I'll go through with it.

-----------------------------------------------------------------

[Quest: The Masters Of Hamon] [Completed]

-----------------------------------------------------------------

It usually gives me something I need, but please...

Please don't be something hurtful.

I don't need another penny.

Wait, do I?

-----------------------------------------------------------------

[Quest: The Masters Of Hamon] [Reward: Rokakaka Plant]

-----------------------------------------------------------------

What?

The plant magically appears in front of me, in its pot and everything.

Is that a book too?

The plant and the book fall to the ground without making any noise.

"So this is an S-class?"

I can't say that it isn't useful.

But it could've been better right?

Right?

It could've been...

Dio's bone?

Joseph's Walkman?

There aren't too many items in Jojo.

There's the requiem arrow, but that's too much.

I should read the book before doing anything.

...

...

...

To summarize the book, it says everything you need to know about the rokakaka.

It's a plant with various branches, but only 5 of them have rokakakas, the branches are all straight and with the tip looking up.

The plant only needs water, not even fertilizer or sun.

The fruits are ready to be extracted every 5 months, and I have to do it precisely or I will harm the plant.

You need exactly 125 gr of Roka for an equivalent exchange to start.

After ingesting 125 gr, in 3 minutes and 21 seconds, the equivalent exchange will be completely done, a part of your body will be healed, and another part will turn into rock because of it.

It also says other things, but they aren't too important.

I wanted to sit and meditate for a while, but I guess this is more important now.

Normally, I would put it under the care of the servant under gardening responsibilities, but there's nothing wrong with keeping it on my desk, it's small enough and it won't grow any bigger.

Well, that and I don't want someone just taking a bite of the fruit and getting their legs fixed in exchange for their eyes.

This plant is rather sensitive, and I'm near the mansion, where there are just some servants doing small cleaning in the rooms.

It should be safe.

With a book under my arm, the pot held by my palms, I went directly to my room.

I place the plant on my desk and everything is fine.

While I did hate a bit in the plant, this could prove useful to a degree.

I don't know what degree though, since it only gave problems in Jojolion.

But it was sold for 200,000,000 yens right?

That's like a million pounds.

I don't know how much it is exactly, but it was sold for heavy money.

Although, I would need to use it to prove its worth.

That or I can spread some rumors about a miracle medicine.

It worked with vampires.

By the way, how would this work for vampires? For pillar men? For ultimate life forms?

Questions, questions...

I can't do anything about that though, so let's keep on thinking.

There are still around 2 hours left until 9 am right?

I check the grandfather clock in between my closets.

It's 9:38 am

"Whoa"

Wait, seriously?

Did I take that much time?

Well, it was an interesting book.

No problem, I'm going to Jack's house.

...

..

...

"Hey, how you doing?"

"How do you think I'm doing? I'm not going to see the sun ever again in my life."

"Silly Jack, you aren't supposed to see the sun directly, it may hurt your eyes."

We engaged in some playful banter on the way to my mansion.

...

"Alright, go ahead"

I told Jack, who is now with his hood down, to summon his stand.

"Here it goes."

Once again, I feel the pressure change in the air.

It's something similar to Apolonia's stand, but way more oppressive.

Her stand felt magical, overwhelming, and/or cosmic, it felt like I was stargazing in a clear sky.

His stand feels like a warning shot, it puts me on my nerves and triggers my body's fight-or-flight response.

"Have you decided on a name for it?"

"Name?"

"Yeah, you're not just gonna call it ¨Stand¨ right?"

"Of course not"

"Good because even Apolonia had a name for it"

"His name is... Killshot"

Another song name stand? Is this something like an obligatory event?

In part 8 there are some songs for them to name their stand after.

Not in this era though, Songs are direct in their names.

"Do you know what It can do?"

"I haven't tested it, but I feel some instinctive things"

"Like?"

"I feel that I can cut some things"

Not very precise.

"What do you mean?"

"Like, sever their connection?"

"Well, let's test it out later"

"Why not now?"

"Because now, we go to see Apolonia"

I need to fulfill my debt.

He also needs to, even if he grumbles something under his breath.

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

A/N: I wanted to say this together with the other note, but the themes are too different.

The only confirmed things about the rokakaka are that:

- The natives that found the plant went at certain times of the year to get the fruit.

I wrote it every 5 months, that's not too much time or too little.

- The exchange needs 125 gr, and it absorbs nutrients from another part of the body, turning it into stone

 I didn't change this part

- The appearance of the tree and fruit.

I didn't change this part either

Everything else that I've written in the fic is made up, since there isn't too much info on the rokas, even less about how to harvest them.

But Josefumi Kujo stole a branch, and then grafted it to a tree, creating his roka plant.

Even if he had the knowledge to take care of plants, I don't think that he had any riches for him to use in doing the high care you can do to one.

So I just went with water, since it needing sun would mean it had to be placed outside, where the stone humans could see.

Imagine a rock human walking down the street, and they see a fully grown roka plant just sitting in a random apartment.

That would be funny and weird.
