Chapter 114: Chapter 114- The Emerald Twilight, Reaper's Terror, and the Phantom Zone Escape - Part 1
As Orach's declaration echoed across the globe, people trembled. Those who knew the Green Lanterns turned pale with fright, knowing the Saiyan Empire's demonstrated power so far exceeded anything the Corps could counter.
The Justice League members grew particularly tense, concerned about two of their own ranked among the Corps. In Smallville, Clark Kent clenched his fists in frustration. Though he yearned to confront Orach and halt this impending conflict, the alternate timeline memories that plagued his mind made him too volatile to act and hence a liability. He could only watch helplessly as Orach continued.
"Many of you, may wonder why I choose to address you rather than simply act," Orach's calm voice resonated across the planet. "Let me show you why." With a gesture, he revealed a recording that would bring clarity to the populace.
"Please, Guardians, reconsider," pleaded Green Lantern Laira Omoto. "We've witnessed their power firsthand. We've already offended them once - if we proceed with this action, we'll face a wrath beyond our ability to withstand."
"Silence, traitor!" thundered an unfamiliar, enraged voice. "How can you not see this power for the threat it is? We witnessed that red monstrosity obliterate the Thanagarian Armada without mercy or warning. They're no better than the Mad God himself!"
"ENOUGH!" Hal Jordan's voice cut through the chaos. "Fine - if you want Adellca, you'll have to take us too. She came here in good faith, trying to help us understand the very force that YOU, in your infinite wisdom, chose to probe. But you seem determined to court death. I plan on living a long life with Laira and my friends. Listen to me - the Guardians are WRONG this time. If we follow through with this, that ship and that red robot will annihilate us all!"
"HOW DARE YOU, Jordan!" the same unknown voice roared. "We possess power beyond your comprehension. We don't merely stand equal to the New and Old Gods - we are the pillars of universal order! Let them come with their might. Even if that higher realm being returns, we will destroy him too!"
"Power like the power of fear?" John Stewart's voice dripped with sarcasm. "How did that yellow ring you all fashioned for Sinestro work out? All it did was corrupt him and turn him against us!"
"Enough!" A new voice, more controlled and dignified, spoke with finality: "Green Lanterns Jordan, Omoto, and Stewart - you are hereby stripped of your ranks and rings. You will join the traitor Adellca in the Sciencells. Furthermore, Earth, in sector 2814.1, is now designated as hostile territory. The Green Lantern Corps shall mobilize to liberate it from these oppressors..."
When the recording ended, stunned silence gave way to worldwide outrage. Though the voices passing judgment were unfamiliar, people instantly recognized their heroes' voices. Learning that these respected protectors had been imprisoned for trying to prevent war sparked fury across the globe. The recording left no doubt - Earth's champions had pursued peace, while the Guardians had deliberately chosen conflict.
The Justice League's expressions grew grimmer as they recognized the voices. The situation was worse than feared - their colleagues stood imprisoned, and Orach's anger was justified. Adellca, who they had seen kneel out of loyalty to Wonder Woman and Raven during the end of the Thanagarian invasion, had gone in peace to foster understanding between Orach and the Guardians of Oa.
"As you have witnessed," Orach continued after letting the recording's impact settle, "your champions tried to prevent this conflict. They defended my servant honorably. Out of respect for their actions, I inform you of my intentions. My primary goal is to rescue those wrongfully imprisoned. Your champions will be freed and returned." His words kindled hope in those who knew Hal Jordan and John Stewart, but his next statement carried a chilling warning: "However, should they choose to stand with the Corps against the Saiyan Empire after their rescue, they will share in their former comrades' fate."
The broadcast ended as the massive Void Sentinel hung ominously in Earth's orbit, a silent herald of what was to come.
On her apartment balcony, Diana watched the warship with narrowed eyes. She knew her beloved well enough - when Orach reached this level of rage, nothing could prevent what was to come. This wouldn't be a war, but an extinction event for the green lanterns. Taking a deep breath to center herself, she sent quick messages to Themyscira, the Justice League, Barbara, and Rachel. Then, speaking with the authority of the future mistress of House Gula, she commanded, "Mother Empress, transport me to my quarters aboard the Void Sentinel." In a flash of soft blue light, she vanished.
In Jump City, Rachel didn't wait for her fellow Titans to process the announcement. Her eyes hardened with determination as she stepped outside. "Mother Empress," she called out, her voice carrying the weight of her position as princess of the House of Gula, "transport me to my quarters." She wouldn't let her father face this alone, not after finally having him back after more than a year. As his daughter, her place was at his side. Before Barbara, Starfire, or any of her friends could protest, a blue light enveloped her, and she vanished, leaving her stunned teammates behind.
Themyscira
On the sacred island of the Amazons, an uneasy tension filled the night air as news of Orach's declaration reached their shores. The massive Void Sentinel looming in Earth's atmosphere cast long shadows across the ancient marble structures.
"By the gods, what madness has possessed these Guardians to provoke our son-in-law?" Antiope's voice carried both concern and anger as she stood beside Queen Hippolyta on the palace balcony.
Hippolyta's expression darkened. "They have sealed their fate. Orach's wrath knows no bounds when protecting what is his."
"Indeed," came a regal voice, accompanied by a shimmer of divine light. Queen Hera materialized before them, her face etched with unusual gravity as she gazed skyward at the massive warship.
"My Queen—" Hippolyta began, but Hera raised a gentle hand.
"Please, just Hera," she said softly. "The past is behind us, Hippolyta. With Zeus gone, so too is my bitterness. Perhaps... perhaps it's time we renewed our friendship?"
Hippolyta studied the goddess carefully. Years of ruling had taught her to see beyond words to their underlying motives. While Hera's offer seemed genuine, the queen couldn't ignore that it coincided with Orach's growing influence. 'Even the gods tread carefully around him now,' she mused. Still, she met Hera's eyes with equal dignity and extended her hand in acceptance.
"Mother!" A familiar voice rang out as Donna Prince descended from the sky, her dark hair flowing in the night breeze. Upon seeing Hera, she immediately dropped into a respectful bow. "Queen Hera, I... I didn't expect—"
Hera regarded the young Amazon with curiosity. Though she sensed Zeus's divine touch in the girl, her old resentments had indeed faded. "Rise, child. Your reputation precedes you, Donna. I hear you're becoming quite the warrior."
Before Donna could respond, Hippolyta interjected, "What brings you here at this hour, daughter?"
Donna's eyes widened as she remembered her purpose. Quickly retrieving a communicator from her belt, she presented it to her mother. "It's from Diana. She left a message."
A holographic message flickered to life, Diana's image appearing before them. Her voice was steady and her eyes reflecteing her determination as the message began, "Mother, Donna, I trust this message finds you well. I've made a decision that cannot wait - I'm joining Orach aboard the Void Sentinel. As his future wife and the future mistress of House Gula, my place is at his side, especially now. Donna, I need you to return to man's world. My apartment and my armor are yours to use. The Teen Titans and Justice League will need your strength in the days ahead. Guide them, protect Earth in my absence. Above all, take care of each other and wait for my return. All my love, Diana."
As the image faded, those present were left stunned. Hippolyta's expression turned grave as her grip on the communicator tightened. Antiope, seeing the change in her sister's demeanor, placed a comforting hand on her shoulder.
"Sister, Diana is right to follow him," Antiope said. "They have just reunited, and you saw how she missed him in his absence, though she maintained appearances for us all. Her heart is his—it's natural she doesn't want to leave his side again. Remember, she is our world's strongest champion, and our son-in-law's strength transcends this universe. Let us do as she suggested and await their return."
Hera nodded. "Your sister speaks truth, Hippolyta. There is nothing to fear. Together, your daughter and her husband are unstoppable."
"Mother," Donna stepped closer, "Aunt and Queen Hera are right. Sister is truly the strongest of us all. Please don't worry."
Hippolyta's gaze softened as she listened to Antiope and Hera, and a resigned sigh escaped her lips. 'Hippolyta, what are you doing?' she thought to herself. 'You still have another daughter to care for, and they speak truth. What power could harm those two, especially with that ship and... that monstrosity?' Recalling Scarlet Zeta and its power, a shiver ran down her spine, but she quickly shook her head and gave her daughter a wry smile as she patted her head.
"You're all right. But a mother will always worry about her child, no matter what. Still, I understand her place is by his side." Her expression turned serious. "Donna, you heard your sister's commands. Are you ready to return and take up the mantle of champion of Themyscira in her absence?"
Donna straightened her posture, her eyes showing her resolve. "Mother, I swear by the gods, I will uphold Diana's legacy and protect man's world with everything I have. You and sister will not find me wanting."
Hippolyta's stern expression softened with pride. "Very well," she said, placing a hand on Donna's shoulder. "Return to your chambers and prepare yourself. You depart at first light."
With a respectful bow to both her mother and Queen Hera, Donna took to the night sky, her silhouette cutting through the starlit night sky as she flew toward her chambers. Tomorrow would mark the beginning of her greatest challenge yet, not just as a Teen Titan, but as the new guardian of man's world, carrying the sacred mantle of Wonder Woman in her sister's absence.
Planet Oa
In the aftermath of imprisoning Adellca and the three Green Lanterns, the Guardians issued an immediate recall order across all sectors. Green Lanterns not engaged in critical missions converged on Oa, their numbers growing by the hour. Under the direction of veteran Corps members, an intensive training program began - focusing on synchronized attacks and tactical coordination. The recent devastating encounters with the Void Sentinel had exposed their individual limitations against such overwhelming power. Their only hope lay in perfecting combined assaults that could potentially breach the warship's defenses.
Despite the losses they'd suffered, the Corps' resolve remained unshaken. Each Lantern understood what was at stake - not just their honor, but the very peace they'd sworn to protect throughout the universe.
Meanwhile, within the sacred Hall of Guardians, a heated debate raged.
"Ganthet," Killalla's voice trembled, "we must reconsider our course. This force we face—they possess the power to manipulate time itself. Such an ability surpasses even our own capabilities..." She trailed off, her words failing her.
"There may still be another way," Dennap interjected, her tone serious. "Adellca could still mediate. We could approach this with diplomacy."
Several other Guardians voiced their support, but Ganthet raised his hand, silencing the chamber. His ancient eyes held a weight that gave even his fellow Guardians pause.
"My brothers and sisters," he began, his voice carrying across the chamber, "I understand the fear that grips your hearts. We all felt the demonstration of their power, and it shook the very foundations of our beliefs. But we cannot allow fear to dictate our actions." He paused, his gaze sweeping the room. "The very fact that this power dares meddle with time makes them too dangerous. Consider what will become of our universe if this power remains unchecked. We still don't know what changes that power has brought upon Earth. How many destinies have changed without anyone knowing? How has the course of that planet shifted because of this power's interference with its timeline? And then there is the fact—you all know what lies hidden on Earth. The Anti-Life Equation cannot fall into the wrong hands—not Darkseid's, and certainly not the Saiyan Empire's. We are the Guardians of the Universe. Before the Blackest Night falls, we must stand firm against any threat to the cosmic order we protect."
A heavy silence descended upon the hall as the weight of Ganthet's words settled over the assembly. The implications were clear - they stood at a crossroads that would determine the fate of the universe itself.
"If I may, Ganthet," Sayd's voice thoughtful. "While your concerns are valid, perhaps we should consider expanding our arsenal before our next engagement with the enemy."
Ganthet turned to face her, his expression softening slightly. "You have a suggestion, old friend?"
All eyes in the chamber focused on Sayd as she rose from her seat. "The emotional spectrum is vast, and while willpower has served as our foundation due to its stability, we've perhaps been too rigid in our approach."
"A moment, Sayd," Scar interjected, his eyes narrowing as he locked on to Sayd. "Are you suggesting we venture into crafting rings from other aspects of the emotional spectrum? Wasn't the catastrophe with Sinestro and the yellow light of fear proof enough of the dangers involved?"
Many Guardians nodded in agreement with Scar's assessment, their faces etched with concern. Yet they remained silent, patiently awaiting Sayd's response.
Sayd nodded and rose before replying,"The yellow light's corrupting influence is undeniable, but it reminded us of something vital about the emotional spectrum's raw potential. There are other aspects we might harness..." Her gaze swept across the chamber, meeting each Guardian's eyes in turn. "The blue light of hope, for instance."
She moved to the center of the chamber, her presence commanding attention. "Throughout the ages, I have witnessed hope persist when all else crumbled across countless worlds. Against the Anti-Life itself, against the beast of judgment, I dare say hope alone has the chance to survive. This is why I propose we harness the blue light of the spectrum." Her voice grew stronger with conviction. "My previous experiments have yielded promising results. The blue light not only amplifies existing powers but provides remarkable healing properties. In the upcoming engagement, hope could be our decisive advantage. Imagine our Green Lanterns empowered by hope itself. Their unified strength could match the Saiyan Empire's formidable power. Moreover,"
Sayd's eyes blazed with determination as she delivered her final argument. "Should our ultimate weapon falter—and we must consider this possibility—the blue light could reinvigorate it, granting us a second chance when we need it most. In times like these, we cannot afford to dismiss any potential advantage."
A murmur of consideration rippled through the chamber at Sayd's words. Ganthet stroked his chin thoughtfully before speaking, "Your proposal has merit, Sayd. But the creation of blue power rings would require time that we may not have."
Scar's voice also chimed in,"And where do you propose we find candidates worthy of wielding this blue light? Hope is not as easily channeled as willpower."
"There's a saying Hal Jordan once shared with us," Sayd countered after a moment of silence. "Sometimes it's better to apologize than to ask permission."
A stunned silence fell over the chamber as the Guardians fixed their gaze on Sayd. Ganthet's expression darkened with concern. "Sayd... you've already created the rings? Without our collective guidance? The strain of such an endeavor could have destroyed you. What possessed you to take such a risk?"
Sayd met his gaze unflinchingly. "Because I could no longer stand idle while our Lanterns fall in battle. Because our hard-won peace faces threats not just from Darkseid, but from powers we barely comprehend. But if you want my deepest truth..." She paused, her voice softening. "It was fear. Fear for the fate of our universe if we cannot adapt to protect this fragile peace."
Sweeping her gaze across the chamber before settling on Scar, she continued with renewed conviction. "I have identified beings across the universe whose very essence radiates hope. Bro'Dee Walker of Sector 1, whose unwavering spirit inspired an entire system. Warth of Sector 2, who maintained hope through a century of darkness. Hynn of Sector 3 and Sercy of Sector 4 - each has demonstrated extraordinary resilience and has already successfully bonded with their rings."
Dennap leaned forward, her initial shock giving way to intrigue. "While creating a Blue Lantern Corps in secret was reckless, Sayd, I cannot deny the strategic advantage this could provide. This might really tip the scale more in our favor... remarkable."
Ganthet raised his hand, commanding silence once more. His expression had softened, though concern still lingered in his eyes. "What's done is done. While your methods were questionable, Sayd, we cannot ignore the potential of what you've achieved. The council will assist you in creating additional Blue Lantern rings." He straightened, his voice now authoritative. "Have your Blue Lanterns report to Oa immediately. Kilowog will oversee their integration with our existing forces. We'll need every advantage in the battles to come."
Sayd's tense shoulders finally relaxed as relief washed over her. "Thank you all for your trust and understanding."
As the council chambers emptied, only Scar and Ganthet remained behind, the air heavy with unspoken tension.
"There's something troubling you, Ganthet," Scar observed, his piercing gaze meeting his fellow Guardian's. "Something you wished to discuss away from the others?"
Ganthet's expression hardened. "Scar, I need your honesty. Was it you who facilitated Sinestro's escape?"
A heavy silence fell between them as Scar considered his response. Finally, he gave a single, solemn nod.
Ganthet's face fell, disappointment and concern etched in his ancient features. "Old friend, you witnessed firsthand how the yellow light corrupted him, how it twisted everything he once stood for. What could possibly justify this decision?"
Scar's expression remained impassive. "Sometimes, Ganthet, to preserve order, we must embrace chaos. The Saiyan Empire threatens everything we've built. Their power, though I hate to admit it, is still beyond our comprehension. But that's also the very thing that works in our favor—for their power breeds fear. Perhaps..." He paused, his eyes gleaming with calculated purpose. "Perhaps what we need is someone who understands fear intimately. Someone who can wield it against those who instill that very fear in others."
"You're playing a dangerous game," Ganthet warned in a low voice. "And don't think I haven't noticed your weakened state... You've created more yellow power rings, haven't you? Sinestro's hatred for the Corps runs deep—how can you be certain he won't turn against us?"
"Because," Scar replied, a thin smile crossing his face, "I've given him something far more valuable than revenge – a common enemy. The Saiyan Empire's presence threatens his vision of an ordered universe as much as it threatens ours. For now, that alignment of interests is all we need."
Ganthet shook his head slowly. "I hope you're right, old friend. For all our sakes." He turned to leave but paused at the chamber's threshold. "Just remember – fear is a double-edged sword. And those who wield it often find themselves cut the deepest."
Scar remained silent for a long moment, his expression unreadable. Finally, he spoke, his voice barely above a whisper. "We all do what we must to protect the universe, Ganthet. Even if others may not understand our methods."
Ganthet studied his old friend's weathered face and simply nodded. "Indeed we do, old friend. Indeed we do."
Together, they left the sacred chamber, their footsteps echoing through the ancient halls of Oa. Each lost in their own thoughts about the storms that lay ahead.
Earth System - Void Sentinel
Orach stood at the bridge of his ship, the command center displaying star charts. His contemplative silence was interrupted by the synchronized arrival of Diana and Rachel from their quarters. Their unexpected presence aboard his vessel spoke volumes of their determination.
"You both know this is a mission, right?," Orach said with a quiet sigh, his voice gentle yet firm.
Diana stepped forward, her stance resolute. "Like I stated before. We made our choice the moment you returned to us. Our family won't be separated again."
"Mom's right," Rachel added firmly. "We just got you back. We're not letting you face this alone."
Orach's expression softened slightly, though concern still creased his brow. "This isn't a simple journey. We're heading into battle."
"Orach," Diana's voice carried a chill as she approached his captain's chair. "Tell me something - what am I to you?"
"My betrothed," he answered, meeting her gaze.
"And Rachel?" asked Diana
"Our daughter," Orach replied without hesitation.
"Then you understand what that means," Diana pressed. "We are members of the House of Gula, in every sense of the word. When our house is threatened, when one of our own needs rescue, it becomes a family matter. Not just the responsibility of its head."
Rachel, who had been watching the exchange intently, moved to stand beside her mother, nodding firmly in agreement.
Orach studied them both carefully before asking, "And what of your duties? Themyscira needs its princess."
"My mother and sisters protect the island, with the blessing of the gods themselves," Diana responded confidently. "Themyscira will endure."
"What about the Justice League? Your civilian responsibilities?" Orach persisted.
Diana's lips curved into a knowing smile. "I've made all necessary arrangements. Donna is returning early from her training to rejoin the Teen Titans and will support the League in my absence. I have even left my armor for her to use. As for Rachel," she continued before he could interject, "Barbara has secured a sabbatical - her outstanding grades made it simple. We've thought this through, Orach. Down to the smallest detail. So, stop being stubborn. We're coming with you."
Orach leaned back in his captain's chair and closed his eyes, his expression thoughtful as he considered their words. After a moment of reflection, he opened his eyes and met their determined gazes. "Very well," he conceded with a slight smile. "But on one condition - during combat situations, you both follow my lead without question. Agreed?"
Diana and Rachel exchanged victorious glances, their faces lighting up with matching smiles of triumph.
"Now then," Orach said, rising from his chair with renewed purpose, "since you're officially joining this mission, there's something we need to address. Until now, you've only had limited access to the ship's facilities, with areas like the treasury remaining off-limits. However, as official members of both the house and crew, you'll need access to proper equipment." He gestured for them to follow as he willed a spatial ripple and took a step through. "It's time to outfit you both with appropriate battle gear."
Diana and Rachel followed Orach through the spatial ripple, emerging before an imposing entrance to the ship's treasury. Their eyes widened at the sight of the massive doors adorned with intricate patterns - the ancient symbol of the strategic division carved with remarkable detail. Neither had ventured into this restricted section before.
The security systems hummed to life, recognizing Orach's presence instantly. As the massive doors parted silently, they entered a vast chamber that left both mother and daughter in awe. The treasury was a testament to advanced civilization - rows upon rows of sophisticated technology, law crystals pulsing with stored power of the primordial law, weapons of extraordinary design, precious artifacts, and even preserved specimens of rare flora. Most intriguing was a section dedicated to emergency blood samples, though they had little time to ponder its purpose as Orach led them toward the armor section.
Display cases activated automatically as they passed, illuminating battle gear unlike anything Earth had ever produced. When they reached their family's section, Orach came to a stop before two particular suits. His expression grew distant, as he gazed upon his parents' battle armor.
Even after his experiences in the Void Realm and the revelations from his visions had helped him accept his parents' fate, the pain of their loss remained undiminished.
Diana, sensing his emotions through their bond, gently intertwined her fingers with his. Her touch seemed to anchor him, and he managed a small smile.
"These," he said softly, gesturing with his free hand, "were my parents' armor. One day, when our family is whole again, they will serve their reincarnations. These are the same armors I saw them wearing in my visions."
"Dad," Rachel said, studying the intricate designs, "I've read about grandmother and grandfather in the archives, but their mission logs were sealed. During our journey to Oa, would you tell us about them?"
"Yes, I'd like to know them too," Diana added warmly. "Your mother seems to have been remarkable. I hope to learn from their legacy - not just as your future wife and empress, but as a mother to our children. I can only aspire to be half the parent she was."
Orach nodded thoughtfully. "The trip to Oa will take some time, even at warp speed. I'll share their stories with you both." His voice grew solemn. "There's also... the matter of their final battle. I want you both to witness their last stand."
"You mean you haven't reviewed the war logs yourself?" Diana and Rachel asked in surprise.
"No," Orach replied quietly. "After the visions revealed their fate, something deep within me—call it intuition—told me my home was gone. I knew that if they had fallen, my planet must have fallen with them in that fight. In that moment I knew, that I was... the last Saiyan."
He looked at Diana and Rachel before continuing, "After that, I could focus only on surviving to see you both again. While reviewing the logs would satisfy my curiosity and sense of duty—and help me plan ahead—I want to share this moment with you. I want you to witness how my parents and my people faced that monster in their final hours. Their courage, their pride, their unwavering devotion to defending life itself from corruption—this deserves to be witnessed by my family."
Rachel stepped forward and silently embraced Orach tightly, her silence speaking volumes. Through their familial bond, Orach could feel her mix of relief and lingering concern. He smiled gently, patting her head while noting Diana's worried expression through their bond.
"I'm alright now," Orach assured them both warmly. "I've returned stronger than before." He smiled as he drew back from Rachel and gently lifted her face. "Though I've changed, beneath it all, I'm still your father. So cheer up, would you? I have something special to show you both—a gift my mother prepared long ago."
Both Diana and Rachel exchanged puzzled looks as they followed him deeper into the treasury. They stopped before a display case that once contained Orach's current armor.
"This armor was my birthright, forged by my grandfather," Orach explained, gesturing to his current armor with pride. "Before meeting you, Diana, I had no interest in love or marriage. But my mother... now it feels she had an uncanny intuition. She always insisted that one day I would find love and build a family." He chuckled softly. "She even hoped for me having multiple wives, wanting many daughters-in-law to give her many grandchildren to spoil. You wouldn't believe how persistent she was. She went so far as to personally craft armor for my future brides."
Taking Diana's hand, he guided it to the display case's scanner alongside his own. The system resonated with their essence as their terminals synchronized. A hidden panel adjacent his armors display case, slid open with a soft hiss, revealing an ornate display case. Inside lay a magnificent set of golden armor pieces complementing a pristine white battle suit. Above it, a crown rotated slowly in suspension, while beside it stood a majestic sword, its hilt intricately carved with ancient symbols.
Diana and Rachel gazed in awe at the beautiful ensemble. Suddenly, Diana felt her inner world, Sadala, surge with energy. Her body began to transform involuntarily - from Pseudo Rosé to Blackberry, her hair deepening to purple then to fully powered Blackberry as her eyes took on the same royal hue. But the transformation didn't stop there. A powerful roar echoed from her inner world as her hair lengthened and shifted to a brilliant cardinal pink.
Her body grew taller, more graceful, more accentuated and more radiant, her presence becoming more divine, as if transformed into a goddess incarnate.
"What's happening?" Rachel whispered, watching her mother's transformation with wide eyes.
"Its a resonance of some sort. But, this is a good thing. This should help her get the feeling of this state," Orach murmured, equally amazed. Though they didn't fully understand what triggered it, they could sense this was a positive development for Diana's cultivation.
Diana marveled at the power coursing through her new form when she felt an unmistakable call from the sword. The weapon trembled and hummed, beckoning her to approach. She turned to Orach with questioning eyes.
"Go ahead," he nodded, a knowing smile playing on his lips. He now recognized that this was more than just coincidence - the sword spirit had sensed something special in Diana.
As Diana grasped the hilt, an immense pressure bore down on her like a mountain. The sword was testing her worthiness. Her first instinct was to grip tighter and push back, but she remembered her earlier encounter with Orach's echo. She determined that maybe force wasn't the answer.
Taking a steady breath, Diana maintained a firm but gentle hold as she closed her eyes and channeled her God Ki. Her inner world erupted with energy - a massive Golden Oozaru materialized in her inner realm, its mighty roar resonating perfectly with the sword's frequency. The pressure instantly lifted as the weapon accepted her mastery.
"Give me a name, master," a melodious feminine voice echoed in her mind.
Diana smiled, knowing instinctively what to call this sentient blade. "Lunar Edge," she declared.
The sword pulsed with approval before dissolving into pure energy and merging with Diana's being. It manifested in her inner world, embedding itself in the training grounds of the Strategic Division HQ. Knowledge of its abilities flooded her mind.
With newfound confidence, Diana extended her hand, willing the sword to materialize. She tested its shapeshifting abilities, transforming it from dagger to broadsword to katana with fluid ease. However, she could feel her enhanced form beginning to fade. Before her strength waned completely, she reached for the displayed armor - only to be repelled by an invisible force that sent her stumbling backward into Orach's waiting arms. Her transformation dissolved, leaving her disoriented and confused.
"Why did it reject me?" she asked softly, looking up at him.
"The armor is forged from materials of the higher realms," Orach explained gently. "It will only accept you once you've reached King Level cultivation." Seeing her disappointment, he added, "But the battle suit is what I truly wanted you to have. Though I must admit, I never expected the sword to choose you as its wielder. Not this early."
With Rachel supporting Diana, Orach separated the armor components and used the configurator to make adjustments to the battle suit, crown, and cape. The pieces compressed into a sphere of dark energy in his palm. He guided Diana's hand to touch it.
The moment her terminals connected with the sphere, it burst open in a flash of light. The energy flowed over her body, materializing as an elegant dark blue version of her Amazonian armor, now enhanced with silver and gold accents. The transformed outfit included sleek pants and boots, while the crown manifested as a silver tiara. Her necklace terminal integrated seamlessly with the battle suit, as a royal blue cape settled across her shoulders.
Diana gazed down at herself in wonder, running her hands over the smooth material that seemed to respond to her touch. The armor felt incredibly light yet she felt an unmistakable sense of power.
"How does it feel?" Orach asked, his eyes studying her reaction carefully.
"It's... incredible," Diana breathed, flexing her fingers and testing her range of motion. "It's extremely light, yet I can feel its power enhancing my own. It feels like it's a part of me"
"The suit is now attuned to your energy signature," Orach explained, stepping closer to make final adjustments to her bangle terminal, which had integrated with her suit. "It will grow stronger alongside you. These battle suits are designed to adapt and evolve with their wearers. However, it will only reach its final form once you've earned the recognition of the armor pieces and can don them."
"Mom, you look absolutely stunning!" Rachel exclaimed in awe, her eyes shining with admiration as she took in her mother's transformed appearance. The battle suit seemed to enhance Diana's natural grace and power, making her look every bit the Empress she was destined to become.
"Thank you, sweetheart," Diana smiled warmly at her daughter before turning to Orach with curiosity in her eyes. "I was wondering... would it be possible to make any adjustments to the suit?"
"Of course," Orach replied, an amused smile playing on his lips. "Now that your terminals are fully integrated with the suit, you can use Mother Empress's interface to modify its appearance. And once you're able to don the complete set, both the armor and battle suit will respond directly to your thoughts, changing instantly at will."
Diana's eyes lit up with wonder at the possibilities. Without hesitation, she accessed Mother Empress's configuration options and began making subtle adjustments to the suit's design. The material flowed like liquid metal, smoothly morphing to match her vision.
"Mom," Rachel interjected, studying the new design with a concerned frown, "isn't it risky to leave your shoulders exposed, especially during space combat?"
Orach chuckled at his daughter's practical observation. "Not to worry. What appears exposed is actually protected by an invisible layer of the suit's material. The visual design is purely aesthetic, while the protective properties remain intact throughout."
"Perfect," Diana said with satisfaction, admiring how the suit complemented her form. "While I appreciated the previous design, this one feels more... me."
Orach smiled warmly at her before turning to Rachel with a playful glint in his eyes. "Now then, my princess, I believe it's time for your suit to receive an upgrade as well."
Rachel's eyes widened in surprise, but her expression quickly shifted to one of hesitation. "Dad... are you certain? I mean... shouldn't we save what grandmother left for my future siblings? I wouldn't want to—"
Before she could finish, Orach pulled her into a tight embrace. His voice was gentle but firm as he asked, "After all this time, does a part of you still doubt your place in my heart because my blood doesn't flow through your veins?"
Rachel trembled in her father's embrace, tears welling up in her eyes. After a moment, she found her voice, though it was barely above a whisper.
"No... I know you love me, Dad. I know I am your daughter, but..." she stammered. "Sometimes I just wonder what will happen when you have children of your own..."
Diana stepped forward, placing a gentle hand on Rachel's shoulder. "Sweetheart, you are our child. Blood doesn't define family, love does."
Orach pulled back slightly, wiping a tear from Rachel's cheek. "Your mother is right. You were my daughter from the moment I chose you, from the moment you chose me. Any siblings who come after will be joining our family, not replacing you. You will be their big sister, guiding them. That vision of mine that I told you about, should be all the proof you need."
Rachel sniffled, managing a small smile. "I'm being silly, aren't I?"
"Not silly," Orach said firmly. "Your feelings are valid. But know this, you are my firstborn, my precious daughter. Nothing will ever change that. Now," he continued, his tone lightening, "shall we see what your grandmother prepared for you?"
Rachel wiped her eyes and nodded, regaining her composure.
"Like I mentioned before," Orach said warmly, "my mother dreamed of having grandchildren to spoil. She knew that someday I would find love and start a family, even when I couldn't see it myself. While she waited, she gathered rare materials meant for crafting armor and weapons for my future children." He placed a gentle hand on Rachel's shoulder. "And now, as we journey to our destination, I'll fulfill her wishes by forging you a new battle suit, my daughter."
"However," he continued, his expression turning serious, "the armor itself will have to wait. I want to create it while in my primordial form so I can forge the best possible armor, imbued with my full strength for you to use in emergencies. This realm simply cannot withstand that level of power. But rest assured, when the time is right, I'll craft you an armor worthy of a princess, imbued with my full strength."
Rachel's eyes lit up with excitement. "I'm ready, Dad!"
"Crescent," Orach commanded, "reveal the materials panel." A sleek compartment emerged from the wall, displaying an array of rare ores and, to Diana and Rachel's astonishment, several law crystals. Orach carefully selected what he needed before sealing the panel.
"Follow me," he said, creating a spatial ripple with a gesture. "We'll need my workshop for this."
Diana and Rachel gasped in wonder as they stepped through into a vast chamber filled with advanced technological marvels. Crystalline displays floated in the air while complex machinery hummed with otherworldly energy.
"Mother Empress," Orach commanded as he carefully placed the rare materials into the advanced fabrication unit, "please initiate Project Midnight Raven, the design I created for Rachel." Mother Empress complied immediately, projecting detailed holographic schematics above the processing chamber where the precious ores and law crystals had begun their transformation.

"Midnight Raven?" Rachel's eyes lit up with curiosity at the name.
Orach smiled warmly at his daughter. "I've designed numerous suits for you over the years, but Earth's materials were never sufficient to meet my standards. What you've been using is actually a simplified version. Now, with the resources available on the ship, I can finally bring these designs to life properly."
Rachel nodded, maintaining a calm demeanor, but her eyes sparkled with excitement as she watched her new suit taking shape in the chamber.
"Crescent has confirmed all systems are ready,"Orach announced, his tone turning serious. "It's time for us to depart."
Diana and Rachel exchanged determined looks before following Orach through the spatial ripple, ready to begin their journey.
Returning to the main deck, Orach paused in surprise. During their absence, Crescent had thoughtfully installed two additional command chairs flanking the Captain's seat. A warm smile crossed his face at this gesture.
With a grateful nod, Orach settled into the center Captain's chair as Diana and Rachel took their places beside him.
"Young master," Crescent's voice resonated through the deck, "all preparations are complete. Navigation routes have been calculated and locked in. All systems report optimal status and await your command."
Orach closed his eyes briefly, his hand resting on the armrest as he savored this moment - his first journey with his family. Opening his eyes with determination, he tapped his armrest and gave a decisive wave. "Engage."
The ship's advanced warp drive hummed to life, its power building steadily. Diana and Rachel gripped their armrests, their eyes wide with anticipation as they witnessed their first space jump. The view screen showed the fabric of space itself beginning to bend as the warp field formed around their vessel. In a breathtaking instant, the stars elongated into brilliant streaks of light as they made the transition to faster-than-light travel.
