Chapter 6: 6
I sat there for a few more silent minutes before I heard the motel door creak open behind me. Seconds later I felt a gentle hand take my shoulder before Elly took a seat next to me.
"I…I'm so sorry Elly. I forgot about…" I kept my head down. It felt impossible to look at her.
"He's losing a lot of blood. We should try to take him to a hospital." I couldn't decide if she had chosen to ignore me or she just hadn't heard me. I didn't look up to find out.
"Why?" The emotions were gone as soon as they had come. "We're going to kill him anyway."
"We need him to lead us back to the nest." She smacked my arm. "We can't do that if he's dead. And at the moment he's out cold, so I can't ask him." Elly sighed. "I stopped the flow of blood as best I could."
I was going to take it she had ignored me. "I can heal him."
"Hop to it then." She replied, leaning over a giving my cheek a quick kiss. "Thank you for apologizing." Elly got ot her feet.
I sat there for a few minutes longer, listening to her go back into the motel room before I began to quietly laugh. She had gotten good at hiding her emotions in her words. I wasn't honestly sure if I should be proud or terrified by that. Right now, I would choose to be proud.
I stood, groaning slightly as gravel stung my palms, and walked back to the room. When I'd pushed inside again, it was clear that he was close to the end of his life. I had done more damage than I thought I had. But it should still be a relatively easy fix. I looked over him, admiring Elly's handy work as I noticed the towel she'd wrapped around his shoulder like a tourniquet. I sighed, placing my hand on his shoulder and quietly pushing energy into his body, healing him almost instantly.
"He'll wake up after his blood supply has a chance to regenerate," I said softly.
"We should clean the room too," Elly said, coming to stand beside me. "You got stuff for that in the car?"
"I can take care of that too." With a snap of my fingers, the room was practically untouched. "Presto."
Elly hummed softly, impressed.
"You know he wasn't going to die right? He was just healing slowly." I gave her a questioning look.
"Oh ya. But you needed to fix what you'd done." She smiled at me.
I chuckled. "I'm not sure if I should be mad or proud of you."
"I'll take the pride," Elly smirked.
I smiled back at her.
"Will you be ok here for a few hours?" I asked, "I need to go make sure Hell isn't falling apart without me."
"You still got Vamptonite in the car?" She asked, thumbing the doorway.
"There should be a few more vials in the trunk. Under the witch killing bullets." I thought.
"Then go do your Hell stuff." She stood with her hands on her hips. "I've got this."
I nodded, then blinked. When I opened my eyes again, I was in Hell's throne room. It was utterly empty. Not a demon in sight. Strange.
"I've asked them to stay out for a while." Ah. So he'd been waiting for me.
I turned, taking those dark blue oceans in stride as those storms surged in them again. "Oh? And why exactly have you asked that of them Apollyon?"
Lucifer stood from the throne, waltzing over to me. "I figured we could utilize more of this room tonight." His hand reached out for my face, gently caressing my cheek. "And we didn't need any interruptions."
I smiled. Elly could be kept in the dark a little longer.
'Alex'
It was odd to hear her in my head for once. Is this how the angels felt?
'Alex he's waking up. Come back please.'
I shifted, pushing Lucifer's arm off my chest as I sat up. We had fallen off of the throne in a heap of passion during the last round. Cuts and bruises from the event still lingered across my skin as they healed. I looked over at him as I leaned against my arms. His blue eyes were shut, though I knew he wasn't asleep. I nudged him gently.
"I need to get back," I said as one of those eyes opened, staring at me. The storms still rolled through them, but they had lessened to a spring shower now. "She's calling for me."
"Don't take too long." He almost purred.
It sent a tingle of something down my spine. Lust? Pride? Utter delight in the chaos I was sowing? Whatever it was, I liked the way it felt.
I pushed up off the floor and went about collecting my clothing and searching for my phone before dressing. I dusted myself off as best I could before I blinked back into the motel room.
"Oh!" Elly said, almost startled from where she sat on a bed. "I wasn't sure that would work…"
"Did you pray to me?" I asked.
"I…kinda?"
"Huh. I'm kinda flattered." I smiled at her before turning to the monster that was still in its chair.
He didn't look as pale anymore. Most of his color had returned. That hopefully meant most of his blood had already regenerated. It had only been a few hours too. Monsters were always impressive on that feat. The ability to heal so quickly had always been interesting to me. Even now as I had that same ability, it was still intriguing. I wondered who decided which monsters got to heal faster than others and why.
I took another step closer to the ghoul, taking a fist full of hair and pulling his head up so I could see his face. He groaned softly. I smacked his cheek with my free hand.
"Hey, dumbass. Wakey wakey." I said as his eyes lulled open. "We have a few more questions for you."
His eyes widened as they finally focused on me. Then they darted behind me to Elly. "Please don't let her hurt me again…" He whimpered.
"She's not going to hurt you again." Elly reassured. "Right?" The word was more of a demand than a question as she directed it at me.
"As long as you answer my questions," I said calmly. "Now." I put a gentle hand on the shoulder I had dug the hook into. "Who's you're leader?"
"He was the third one we took." He gulped. "Some guy named Chris."
"Chris.." I thought for a second. "Do we have a Chris on file?"
I heard Elly step towards her bag and begin digging through it. She eventually pulled out a folder and pressed it against my hand. "The body wasn't named Chris." She explained. "But that's the third body."
"The body wasn't named that." The ghoul clarified. "That's just our leader's name."
"Right. But he's the one that came up with everything?" I questioned, flipping pages in the file.
"Ya. He won't tell anyone us the details." The Ghoul sighed, seeming to notice I wasn't going to bite again.
"You're going to take us to the nest." I wasn't asking.
"What if I don't?" Seems he was still brave.
Elly stepped up next to me, resting her arm on my shoulder for balance. "Because if you don't. I'll be taking over the torture. And I don't think you want to see what Lucifer taught me."
"Jeez…ok." He said quickly.
Elly pushed off of me and turned back toward our supplies. I turned with her, taking her arm so she didn't get far. "What did he teach you?" I whispered into her ear.
"Mostly how to tie knots for pleasure." She replied quietly with a wink. "Like he would teach me anything torture-related.
"And I thought I was kinky," I said in a low voice, smirking at her.
It was late before we left the motel room. Right around three in the morning. Elly sat in the passenger seat of my car, both of us silent as we watched and waited for anything to happen.
"You sure this is the right place?" I almost growled. We'd already been sitting here for close to an hour. The damn Ghoul still hadn't shown his face. "I swear if he…"
"I'll kill him myself if he did," Elly grumbled. She dropped the magazine from her gun again before shoving it back in, she was just as bored as I was.
"He must have just gotten the time wrong then," I said, picking my nails with a hunting knife.
I looked back up as her hand smacked my arm, which made the knife in my hand jump and just knick my finger. I put the finger in my mouth, savoring the metallic tang of blood as it washed over my tongue before the cut healed. I went to shoot her a dark look but found her focused on something outside the car. I turned to see what she was watching and saw movement as something darted through the darkness and toward the building we had been stalking. Another two figures followed the first out of the darkness, these two slower, hoods covering their crouched forms. There was still no doubt in my mind that this was who we'd waited for.
"We should wait for the others," I said, popping my finger from my mouth.
"Do we have to?" Elly grumbled again, falling back against her seat. She slumped into it, playing with her gun again.
I looked over her. This seemed so unlike her to have the patience of a new hunter. It could be dangerous. "Ya know, I used to be impatient for hunts too." I smiled, watching the tree line for any more figures now.
"I'm sure." Elly snorted.
"I'm serious, Elly. I couldn't wait to get out there once John's dumb tests were over. Dean threatened to knock me out a hundred times if I didn't stand still." I laughed at the memories. "I almost got myself killed rushing in."
"Dean's a party pooper." Elly sat up again as another figure moved towards the building. "And we can't rely on a Ghoul to not rat us out."
"I'm sure he hasn't." I sat up as well, taking in the dark. "We would've been swarmed by now if he had." I turned to her and placed a gentle hand on her shoulder. "I'm trying to be serious here Elly. I could've gotten myself and Dean killed that night and I would rather not see you die because you wanted to jump the gun. Please, just be patient."
"This isn't my first hunt, Alex." Elly paused for a moment and my eyebrows rose. Her voice dropped and she mumbled. "Fine. I might have gotten Luci and I into some tough spots."
"And I'll take that point." I chuckled. "Another good reason to wait is to see just how many there are. We have no idea if they kept bodies from a previous town or not. I don't want to get ambushed here."
"Fake Jeffery said there were only seven of them total. I can do seven easy." She cocked her gun and made a show of fake firing it, smiling at me.
"Uh-huh." I sighed. "We've already seen six including Jeff, which leaves one more to wait for. I'm sure you can give it a few more minutes."
"When did you get so serious?" It was meant to tease me. "I was just kidding." She uncocked the gun and lowered it into her lap.
"I got serious after I died to save you," I said. "But now I've gotten to come back as this hot demon babe," I smirked, winking at her again. It was an attempt to lighten to mood I had accidentally created, but only seemed to make things tenser.
Elly sat up again and shrunk away from me. "I..I…" She looked like she wanted to hide from me. "I…"
The smile fell. Had I done something wrong? "Sorry…" I said quickly.
I opened my mouth to apologize more but thankfully, another dark figure appeared from the trees and approached the building.
"Oh thank god," I muttered. "Let's go."
"I'll catch up…" Elly whispered, not looking at me.
I nodded, leaving the car before anything else could be said. I slunk into the shadows, my knife tight in my grip as I approached the building. I got to the edge of the bricks and flattened myself against them, silencing the breath I did more out of habit than necessity now. I began to hear voices as I crept forward, they were whisper yelling about something.
"You did what?!" One of the monsters said. I couldn't quite tell if they were male or female.
"They were holding me hostage!" The was undoubtedly Jeffery, and he had told them after all. "What was I supposed to do?"
"Great! So now we have hunters on our tails. Do they know where to find us?" This one sounded male.
"That's the thing." I could hear the smirk in his voice. "I led them right to us, and there's more of us than there are of them."
Shit. This asshole's whole plan had been to rat us out from the very beginning. I should've just killed him and staked out the morgue for the missing body they were sure to grab tonight. But now our plan could lead to an ambush. There was a small ball of dark anger that grew in me at the thought. There had been no reason to spare him after all.
"How many of them are there?" Another new voice joined in, feminine.
"Just the two of them," Jeffery answered. "They're just girls. We could take them easily."
"They jumped you." The first said, an eye roll present even in their words.
'Just girls'? I almost wanted to save him for last now, just to torture him slowly again and remind him of how a girl hunts. It wasn't like this was going to be hard anyway. I could knock out the group of them before Elly even left the curb.
"They had vamptonite." Jeffery scoffed. "And got a lucky shot in."
"Do you not hear yourself?" That must have been Chris. The other seemed to hush as he spoke, and his tone carried more confidence than the others had. "Do you know how fucking rare Vamptonite is? They can't just be normal hunters." There was a crack as a body hit the brick wall just around the corner and Jeffery groaned. "Who are they?"
"One said she was Lucifer's girlfriend." Jeffery spit. "But that's total bullshit. Everyone knows he's dead and gone so how could she…"
"And the other," Chris growled.
"Winchester."
I took that as my cue and stepped around the corner. "The dead one." I stood with my knife ready to strike and cracked my neck. "Oh ya." I felt my eyes shift to black, "And she doesn't like snitches."
I heard the rush of footsteps behind me well before the ghoul made it to me, it was easy enough to step out of the way. I used the monster's momentum against him and took a fistful of the shirt he wore before shoving him to the ground. This already felt too easy. Maybe I didn't need Elly anyway. Her moody ass could just stay in the car after all.
I tossed the knife between my hands until it landed in my right hand and threw it. There was a sharp clink as the blade met with the hard ground, but I hadn't missed my target. I stepped over the body that was now impaled on the ground, the monster's blood pooling across the concrete. I pushed my boot against his dead face as I bent down and used the leverage to pull the blade from his skull. I smiled as the blade popped free with a sickening schlup sound. I brought the blade to my mouth, licking one side clean as I stared out into the rest of their troupe.
"Next?" I asked, already a little bored.
If this was going to be as easy as I thought then I at least wanted to have a little fun. I wanted more than that, of course, but I doubted these creatures were going to give me the challenge I was looking for. I wanted to feel the edge of pain, the rush of blood, the excitement of the hunt and kill. I looked around at the six monsters that looked at me, their faces covered in a thin veil of fake confidence, fear evident underneath most of them. They barely had a grip on their weapons, mostly knives, maybe a gun or two. Chris still seemed to truly think they could get out of this.
"What?" I stood easily, the movement smooth and feline. "No takers?"
The air crackled with energy as a rush of wind moved past my ear and a new sensation trickled down my cheek. I raised a finger to my face and wiped away blood. I took a look behind me, finding a new chip in the brick wall where the bullet had bounced off it. The smile widened across my lips as I started to laugh. Maybe this would be fun after all.
The game began before they were ready, my knife leaving my hand again and screaming towards the closet's ghoul. The blade plunged through the fabric of her shirt sleeve easily and pinned her to a large wooden crate behind her, another knife falling from her fingers. I raced for it and snatched it from the ground before another ghoul could.
Out of the corner of my eyes, I caught one of them approaching me. In a single smooth motion, I had the blade of the new knife dragging across the back of its ankles. The body crumbled to the ground, giving me the free time to return to the first monster I'd been after. She was desperately trying to free herself now. I raised the knife she had dropped and sunk it deep into her skull. Blood splattered from the wound, hot and sticky as it hit my face. I couldn't help the feeling of utter joy as she twitched and tried to scream beneath the blade before falling still, her eyes wide and fearful until they glazed over in death.
I took my knife and easily pulled it free of the wood, letting her body drop to the ground to join the other one. I turned back to the man I'd left crawling for his freedom. I'd severed his Achilles tendons, even if I let him live, he would never walk again. I dropped onto his body, pinning him to the ground as he wailed out for help, the sound so sweet to my ears I almost moaned. I lifted my knife high into the air and brought it down to the back of his neck, killing him slowly as the blood filled his throat.
I brought the blade up again, ready for the finishing blow, when a sharp white light filled my eyes. The pain seemed to come in all directions as something assaulted my head. A ringing filled my ears after it, and the white light faded into pitch-black nothing.
There was a warm light that slowly got warmer and brighter as I came back to consciousness. I felt like a prisoner in my mind as the pain continued to echo in it. Colorful spots danced among the soft orange glow I opened my eyes to, it made me crave the cool darkness again.
I forced my eyes open fully, taking in what I could see even if the ringing in my ears made it impossible to hear anything. There was a fire all around me. I could feel it in my bones now as my other senses returned to me, the deep setting ache of holy fire as it roared around me. And just beyond it, I could make out a thick line of salt, stark white against the concrete floor.
I tried to sit up, groaning as my bones protested the effort it took. I put a hand to my head as soon as I was sitting and rubbed at my eyes, the pain still prominent just behind them. What the fuck had happened? I had dropped two ghouls, and had almost finished a third, then…nothing. I only remembered the pain as it had struck my skull. A nagging feeling stuck in my gut. I was forgetting something, something important. What was…Elly. I pushed myself to my feet, almost immediately regretting it. I closed my eyes again as the pain roared behind them.
"Elly!" I groaned, eyes still closed tight.
"Shut up." It was the voice from earlier. Caleb or something.
Fuck. My knees gave out from under me and I dropped to the floor again, both hands going to my head as I tried to hold it together. It felt like it was going to split into two.
"Who knew demons were so easy to take out?" The voice teased. "Something as simple as an iron crowbar knocks you on your ass."
"Elly…" I wanted to scream her name again. Wanted to call out and make her hear me. But it barely left me as a whisper.
"We searched the whole warehouse and surrounding area." Another voice, not Jeffery or another I had heard earlier. "There was no one else."
I pushed my head away from my hands so I could look through the flames again. There were four of them that stood beyond the fire, their forms wavering with the flicker of flames.
There was a plump black man, a large burn visible on his face even from here. He had elbow-length curly black hair that almost looked unbrushed, but I left that to the flames. His angular, hazel eyes looked reserved and disinterested in what was happening before him. His large nose pointed down as he frowned. I remembered his face from a file. His vessel had been named Simon Wallace.
And there was a chestnut-skinned woman with wavy brown hair that she wore in a sloppy top knot. She seemed focused, her bright blue eyes studying me as I studied them. She looked toned, possibly the one who had struck me earlier. I remembered her from the files as well. The body belonged to Veronica Medina.
There was another woman, taller than the first, her pale skin glowing in the fire's orange light as it revealed her. Her fine orange hair seemed to dance with the flames. Her deep-set, green eyes were puffy as if she had been crying. Had she had feelings for one of the should I had already cut down? It felt weird to think of a monster as having feelings. Though it shouldn't have been much of a surprise, I still felt some things after all. This was Mea Smith.
The last was a tall, honey-skinned man, and an intimidating air of superiority hung around him. His short, dark brown hair stood coiled on his head, unruly as it led down his face and connected with the wild beard on his face. His wider set, light brown eyes studied me just as the first woman had, though his angular lips hung in a shallow smile. This was Chris, though the body had been named Declan Moore.
There should be five left though. Where was the last one? It should've been Jeffery, he hadn't been one of the bodies to drop outside, no matter how much I had wanted to kill him. But I didn't see him here either, maybe the other ghouls had taken care of him once they'd captured me. It seemed like something they would do, a part of their nature to keep their kind safe.
I lowered my body back to the cool concrete floor, unable to keep it up any longer under the pressure of the flames and pain in my head. I tried to continue watching the monsters from the ground, but my eyes were dragged to something behind them, something that moved in the shadows. I could just make out the shadow as it moved through the stairwell. It stalked through the high walkway that lined the higher shelves of the warehouse. I felt myself drifting back into the darkness as I watched her move.
"Elly…?" It was only a breath.
I blinked, slow and tired, but when I opened my eyes again, one of the women was missing their heads. I knew I was too weak in this circle of flames to help her, but I had to keep awake, just to make sure she survived. I blinked again, and Elly was on the ground, the barrel of her gun under the shin of another ghoul as it went off, blowing a clean hole straight through its head. I watched as the world grew fuzzier. But the last two were trying to jump her, I had to keep watching, keep fighting. Elly shoved one off into the fire and shot another bullet through the last monster's eye. I blinked a final time and the one on fire was headless, its charred head rolling past my feet.
"Elly…" I tried again, so tired now.
"You gotta help me, Alex." Elly huffed in my ear. "I can't keep carrying you by myself. I'm old."
I could feel her tugging against my arm, trying to keep it around her neck. I tried, almost unconsciously, to slide my feet underneath me, to help her and carry my weight. Gravel crunched under my feet and then I was stumbling down what I could only assume were the metal stairs of the bunker. A light blinded me as I tried to open my eyes, to focus on where we were. And then I was being set down in something. A chair.
"Lucy?!" Her loud yell made me wince. "Lucifer!"
There was a rustling sound in the air. Feather. Wings.
"You scared me half to death. Why didn't you answer your phone?" Lucifer sounded genuinely worried. "I thought something happened to you."
My eyes finally opened, and through the bright light, I could make out Elly being swept up into his arms and kissed gently, his hands winding through her hair. It was a worried gesture. Something desperate. Something only someone in love with you would do. I groaned and closed my eyes again. I was going to be sick if I had to watch what I had almost ruined. I slumped further into the chair and reached around my neck until I found the chain I knew still held the ring. I ran my fingers along it until I found the cold metal band. A calm feeling washed over me as I rubbed my thumb against it.
"My phone died and I didn't think to buy a charger," Elly explained between kisses. "I missed you."
"Don't run off like that again, please." Lucifer almost whined. "I've been worried sick."
"Lucy," Elly said calmly. "Alex needs help. I think she got hit with something. And when I found her they had her in a circle of holy fire. It can kill demons. I'm not sure how long she was in it, but she's been mostly unconscious the whole way home."
"What?" He protested softly. "She looks fi…"
"Will you just heal me?" I grumbled, a hand going to my head as the other stayed around the ring. "But I'll need more than what you can give me."
"Can I help?" Elly asked, her voice hurried.
"In my room. Small box on my dresser. Open it." It was hard to think through the pain that still echoed in my head and through my body. "There's a few vials of souls in it. Bring one to me please."
"Uh, ya. Sure." She sounded hesitant. "Do I need a key?"
"No." I groaned softly. "I left it unlocked the last time I needed any."
"Right. I'll be back." I opened my eyes again and watched as she stood on her tiptoes to give the devil another kiss before disappearing down the hall.
I closed them again and settled deeper into the chair, my face scrunching in pain. But then it was gone, replaced by the gentle touch of Lucifer's hand on my face. I opened my eyes as he gently touched my forehead, his cooling energy filling my head. I met those blue-gray storms.
"Thank you," I said softly, the pain beginning to ebb.
"What the fuck happened?" He asked, his hand moving from my forehead to my cheeks, his other hand joining the first. He turned my head, carefully looking me over.
"Ghols are smarter than they look," I said, trying to joke through the leftover pain. "One of them jumped me with a crowbar and then I was in the fire."
"You're lucky that didn't kill you." His fingers traced the path the bullet had taken down my cheek, the wound closing as he went.
I sighed as more pain left with it. "Who knew you could be so soft?"
"I was an angel first. I can be gentle when times call for it." Lucifer's eyes flickered over my face again. "Anything else?" Any more breaks or pains?"
"My jaw hurts a bit," I said, not ready for this to be our last interaction yet. "Here." I pointed to a small sore spot with my finger. My breath hitched as he kissed the spot softly. His lips danced across my skin as healing energy cooled the spot.
I followed his eyes when he pulled away again. "And here." I rested my finger against my bottom lip.
The devil smiled and then kissed me. It started soft and gentle. Then became something sweet and deep. And even as I could begin to hear Elly's footsteps returning, I didn't want it to stop. I pushed my tongue against his lips, urging them to open as she drew closer to the room. His lips parted for me gratefully and our tongues danced together.
'Pull away. Now."
But I wasn't finished with him just yet. I reached for him, digging my hand into his hair and pulling my closer, turning the kiss lustful and hot. She was only a little further away now, and it sent my heart racing. We both wanted this. Both wanted our little secret out in the air. It sent joy through my heart as I heard her enter the room again, air pushing from her lungs as she took us in.
'End this. NOW!'
Fine. I was down with him anyway. I pushed him away but made sure to pull a bit of his blue grace with me as our mouths separated, giving a last show to Elly. I shivered a barely audible moan as his grace flowed through me, enjoying the power I felt behind it before it disappeared into me.
"What…the fuck?!" Elly had found her words.
Lucifer jumped further away from me, the lust that was just in his eyes suddenly ripped away and replaced with guilt. I smiled as I looked from the fallen angel to my friend. Her eyes swam with emotions. Confusion, hurt, sadness, but most of all, anger. She held the vial of a partial soul in her hand, so tightly now that I was sure it was going to break.
"Elly…" I started, not even sure how to start explaining, or if I even cared to.
"Don't you 'Elly' me!" She screamed. "What the fuck?!"
"It's not what you think." The smile widened.
Elly laughed, an angry sound as it bubbled up from her chest. The sound someone made when they were contemplating murder. "It's not…it's not what it looks like?" I watched her grip tighten on the vile. "Then fucking tell me. Tell me what it is, Alex. Because it sure fucking looks like you're fucking my boyfriend."
"That wasn't fucking." It almost felt strangely good to have her finally catch us like this. "That was a little bit of making out." I saw the anger grow in her eyes as I said the words. "I needed some of his grace. Things got a little out of hand." I lied easily.
"Bull fucking shit." The sound of glass breaking came from her palm. I watched as blood began to drip from her hand and the soul floated from it.
Lucifer took a step towards her. "Elizab…"
"Don't you fucking dare touch me." She turned her anger towards him, pushing him away and leaving a nice bloody handprint on his shirt.
"Relax, Elly." I watched as the bit of soul floated around the room before sticking my hand out towards it. It came to me, resting on my palm briefly before it absorbed into my skin. I exhaled deeply as I felt the surge of power go through me. "It wasn't that bad."
"It wasn't that bad?" Elly snorted and shook her head. "You think I didn't know? Hadn't figured it out after he came back smelling like Hell? Or when you came back smelling like him, last night?" She laughed again. "I was just hoping I was wrong."
"Well, it's not like I stole him from you." I kicked my feet up onto the table, feeling rather resorted now.
"He's my boyfriend!" She shouted. "We have a daughter!"
"And?" I examined my nails. "It wasn't like you were giving him the attention he deserved. And I was bored."
"That's your fucking excuse?!" She was so loud now. "You were bored?"
"Yup." I closed my eyes, still smiling. "The demons in hell aren't the best to pick from. And who doesn't want to say they slept with Lucifer himself?"
"We didn't…" Lucifer tried to pipe in from where he'd still been standing.
"Oh don't try to cover it up now, Lu. She probably saw the scratches I had still healing from last night." I whistled. "You know how to use those wings too."
"So you did fuck him?!" Elly was very angry now. I could hear her angry crying now. The tears were clear in her voice as she continued to yell at me.
"Sure I did."
"You're just going to own up to it?" There was hurt in her voice now too. Betrayal. "You're not even sorry about it are you?"
"Not one bit, hun." I opened my eyes and smirked at her. I reached for my knife in its usual spot but came up empty. Had I lost it in the scuffle, or had I left it in my car?
"You fucking bitch! I should've left you there to die! I should've let Dean carve you with his knife! I should've killed you myself when you first showed up!" Her hands went to her hair, turning those beautiful blond locks crimson with her blood.
"Easy love. I fucked around with him. I didn't steal him away." I swung my feet down from the table and leaned onto my knees. "It's not like he was yours though, right? Just because you have a kid with him doesn't mean that he belongs to you. You're not even married."
"Being married has nothing to do with this." She hissed.
I looked to Lucifer again. His mouth was half open like he wanted to say something. But those blue eyes were conflicted and heavy with guilt. Maybe he knew it was better than to add to Elly's already crumbling world.
"I still didn't steal him," I repeated.
"Right. Because you wouldn't do that. You would never steal anything. YOu just got bored because the psycho you called a fiance," She took a breath, "Who probably has a higher kill count than you, is probably ass up in a ditch somewhere. And you're probably the reason he's there!"
That did it. Shutting me up, the words sent a pang of longing through my chest. My mouth clamped shut as the smile fell from my lips. This brought anger into my veins, a fiery warmth I hadn't known I was holding back.
"Don't you dare bring him into this?" It was my turn to hiss.
"Why because you still magically have feelings?" Elly smirked this time. She knew she had struck a chord. Picking words now that she knew would crush me just as I had done to her. "As if. You tried to steal the love of my life and you just expect me to believe you care at all about anything else? You even tried to take my daughter from me! You're nothing more than a sad little girl with a fucking god complex!"
Elly was up against the far wall before I had another moment to think, my hand at her throat. I lifted her high off the ground effortlessly, my grip tightening as she clawed at my hand. I felt my eyes shift to that deep, unending black again as the anger inside fueled me. It was so heavy and hot, but at the same time, something so dark and cold. I wanted to control it, to use every edge of it. I squeezed her throat harder, reveling in the way her eyes widened and her hands struggled against mine, the blood that still coated her hand making mine slippery. I felt a laugh bubble in my throat, something that wasn't my own. Dark. Demonic. And sickening. I squeezed harder and smiled. I could feel her rapid heartbeat now.
"Alex!" Lucifer's voice cut through the darkness. It shook the room and caused the wall to break behind her head. Ot maybe that was just how hard I had pushed her into it. I couldn't tell.
I let Elly drop from my grip. I heard her gasp for air as she hit the ground. I spun on the fallen angel next, his eyes now red as he tried to match my anger. I would kill them all if I stayed here.
I took a step towards him, but instead left the bunker and came to a clear forest. Somewhere far from them, where I could let this anger out and not fear hurting them more. I picked a direction and took off in it, going until I found an old mine shaft that sat abandoned in the woods. I could do away with the anger here, and my body and mind knew that. It heard the werewolves inside the mine just as much as I had. There were thirty of them at least. Growling, laughing, eating. It sounded as if they had just come back from a hunt of their own. I smiled as a twitch ran up my spine. I could kill them all. Or torture them. I could hunt them all down individually. They were just monsters after all.
I took a step closer to the mine and took a deep breath before yelling, "Hey!"
I heard them stop. No more eating, or laughing, or talking. No more growling. Not until it was the only sound I could hear as they raced towards the front, towards me.
I was quick to pull a spare silver blade from my boot, ready to fight. I felt the smile on my face grow again as I decapitated the first wolf. Then more and more came. Soon my blade and hand were dripping with their blood. Most of the wolves couldn't get close to me, and those that did, I dispatched quickly.
I swung left and right, my silver blade cutting through the flesh as if it were butter. I could feel the laughter bubble up in me again as I leaped from wolf to wolf. This time the laugh was joyful, and freeing. I sliced through werewolf after werewolf until there were only one or two left. I pushed my blade through another's heart before I quickly swung it to my left, meeting another.
But my blade stopped short of cutting this neck. It made a small cut in the pale flesh and I watched as a thin line of blood came from it, joining that of the many monsters I had just killed. I felt my hand start to shake as I took in this form. I looked over this face and the heavy scruff that now covered it. I looked over the unkempt, dark brown hair that somehow seemed darker than it had the last time I had run my hands through it. I shook more as I met eyes that were as silver as my knife.
"Hello, love. It's been a while."
