Kill Me Protect Me, Mr. Bodyguard

Chapter 4: It's My Job

BRAK!

Before the board could fall with Daren underneath, Axel had already run to his master and shielded the Omega's body with his large frame. His right hand held the heavy board firmly in place. Making everyone marvel at Axel's quick reflexes.

"Cough... Cough..." Daren coughed from the dust falling on him. "Damn boards, are they trying to kill me?" he muttered in annoyance.

"You okay?" asked Axel as he pushed the board up, away from the two of them before the crew finally lifted it back into position.

"Yeah, I'm fine. You move fast too," he said as he looked at his bodyguard's body on top of his.

Axel's left hand was wrapped around his waist, as if holding his body close to him.

"Good." The Alpha let go of the Omega Male's body and helped him up.

He looked at the crew with a sharp gaze. "Aren't you guys paying attention to the security around here? I've noticed this board isn't even balanced at all! Do you intend to hurt your own actors?!" Axel asked while yelling at them.

The crew felt very guilty about it, as they didn't check the boards they were using beforehand due to the fast-paced nature of the shoot.

"Hey, you can't scold my crew like that! This was an accident and no one wanted this to happen!" said the director holding the commercial.

"This wouldn't have happened if you'd paid attention to your props," the bodyguard snarled back.

Daren looked at Axel with a confused feeling, this was the first time someone had represented him. He wanted to scold them for almost harming him, but he had to maintain his image as an actor. Axel unexpectedly did that for him.

"Mr. Daren, your bodyguard said something inappropriate about my nails. He scolded them, you should tell him to apologize!" said the director.

The blond man immediately turned to the director. "Tell him to apologize? But he said the right thing. I almost got hurt because of this prop," he replied.

He dusted off his clothes and sighed. "Let's move on instead of making a fuss about this. I have other things to do," Daren continued with a friendly smile.

'I feel like destroying this property and going home. They're really annoying,' Devan thought then went to sit down for a moment and drink the water Axel gave him.

Filming finally finished at night, Daren and Axel returned to the car to return to the mansion. However, on the way Daren asked Axel to stop and buy some food.

"Let's stop at Dolala, I want to get a burger," said a hungry Daren.

"Okay," his bodyguard replied and turned the car towards the fast food restaurant, Dolala.

On the way there, Daren kept his eyes on Axel because he was still curious. His bodyguard had never said anything like that before, not even to the point of scolding someone else.

"Hey, why did you do that? Why did you scold the crew there this afternoon? I know they were very careless. But I honestly didn't expect you to scold them," he asked.

"Because it's my job. I have to minimize anything that threatens your safety," Axel replied seriously.

Daren was silent for a moment and realized that his bodyguard was very stiff. He was also stern and never even smiled.

They finally stopped at Dolala's drive thru to order food and then left after they got their food.

"We're going straight home to the mansion," the dark-haired man said.

"Yeah, let's just go straight home," Daren replied as he enjoyed his chessburger. He then turned to Axel who was driving the car. "You want some?" He shoved the fries into Axel's mouth.

"No need, you eat them," the man replied.

"Come on, just one. I know you're hungry because you've been busy taking care of me all day. I'm being kind right now."

Daren's hand continued to thrust the fries which Axel finally opened his mouth to eat.

However, just as he was about to take a bite of the fries, Daren ate them himself. "Heh, you think I'd be happy to give it to you?" he teased when he saw the Alpha glance irritably at him.

Seeing Axel's angry reaction amused Daren. The man was having so much fun teasing his own bodyguard that he knew Axel was a terrible man.

'He's too stiff so it's easy for me to tease him, so funny!' he thought as he enjoyed the food he had bought while Axel only ordered a hot coffee.

"But seriously, you've been my bodyguard for three months now, haven't you thought about quitting? You know my previous bodyguards never lasted more than three months and you've touched more than that," Daren asked curiously.

Every day he used to tease Axel and even annoyed him. But it didn't look like the man wanted to quit his job.

"Is it important for you to know?" Axel asked, raising one eyebrow.

"Well... Yes, I want to know and you'd better tell me."

Axel seemed to pause for a moment thinking about the answer he was going to give Daren. He composed his words so that the Omega could understand the situation he was in.

"I need money, that's all," he replied.

"Need money? Then where did you come from? I heard you came from a small agency. Did you learn martial arts and all that bodyguard stuff there?" Daren asked again.

"You could say that, I deliberately entered that small agency because it was cheap and they promised I would get a decent job," Axel explained as he turned the car onto the road leading to the Wyne Family mansion.

Hearing Axel's answer, Daren felt that his bodyguard really needed money to survive. Life in Zondalia was great, but everything still required money.

"I understand now, you really need money. That's why you accepted all my treatment and stayed afloat, you're very hardworking huh?"

"You understand that?"

"Yes, I understand," Daren replied. "But..."

He stopped the sentence he was about to say and turned to Axel. "I'm not going to make it easy for you to keep working as my bodyguard. I'll keep you in trouble because of me!" he continued with a smile as if he had no sin in saying that.

The Alpha rolled his eyes in disgust at his employer's smile.

"Heh, I know."
