As the system notifications woke her up, Alchemy rubbed her eyes and groaned.

"49 this time… Well, it won't be too bad. The number of berries isn't small, considering how fast the Sylvies could gather so many last night… Mmghn, Inventory."

As many fruits and berries as they gathered, each one aside from the [Meat Fruit] from the farm was only worth a quarter unit of food.

"No rare resources. A shame. At least I got a ton of Divine Power from sacrificing my food reserves."

Beside her, a small yawn could be heard as Sapphire began to wake up.

"Oh, Sapphire, did I wake you up? I'm sorry."

Still half asleep, Sapphire looked at Alchemy and shook her head.

"That's good then. Go get some water to wake yourself up."

Once again, Sapphire nodded as she traipsed over to the nearby river.

{Ah, Mother! You're awake.} A Sylvan Carver greeted her, putting some more stone into the storage.

"You're… One of the new Sylvies. What's up?"

{Eh? You recognize me? How?}

"Well, you see I…" Alchemy responded, only to cut herself off before she answered.

"How did I know? I just had a feeling, I guess? I mean, it was a 2/3 chance I was right. Let's just say it was luck. That aside, I see an awful small amount of Thorns. Are they patrolling again?"

{I believe so, yes.}

"Call them back. I have new orders."

{Yes, mother!}

The lone Sylvan Carver quickly scuttled off with an elated tone.

"Now then. What is on my agenda? Status."

Alchemy pressed yes.

Doing as it said, the seat that Alchemy once sat on began to glow, becoming engulfed in a bright light that forced Alchemy to cover her eyes.

Hearing the notification, Alchemy opened her eyes to see her new base of operations and was greeted with a large dome-like structure made of some chitinous material. As she went inside through the rudimentary door, the inside was split into three main areas, each being lit up by suspiciously green glowing silk.

The center housed the same old throne that she was used to and one room on both sides. Although the right room was rather boring, having a pre-built fire pit and tripod that she already had made outside, the left room was a different matter.

"Finally!" She cheered, exhaling deeply as she lunged at the makeshift bed made of straw. It wasn't much, but it was better than sitting on the cold stone throne.

"Oh, we're going to get to know each other so well tonight~" She hummed happily.

{Mother. The Thornskirmishers have all returned.}

Hearing the telepathic link, Alchemy skipped outside with a wide grin.

"Welcome back. How was the patrol? Find anything interesting?" She spoke as she exited the building, seeing her army of Thornskirmishers.

The measly ten that she had multiplied into a platoon of 50 Thornskirmishers! This was what she was talking about.

{Mother. We've found several gatherings of small animals to the east! It seems that very few predators reside in that direction. On the other hand, we found a few creatures resembling bears with minerals growing out of their bodies and ways out of the territory.}

"Minerals? Okay, so Wolves are to the North, Bears are to the West, and what about the East? Anything of note over there?"

{There were footprints, but we could not Identify what they were.}

"A shame." Alchemy shrugged, not too bothered by the lack of them finding anything. This information was already great. She was especially interested in those mineral bears, but they could wait for now. She wanted to confirm how powerful these bears were personally before letting her Thornskirmishers start hunting them.

"Alrighty, here's the plan. You have my go-ahead to start being more aggressive. Ten of you will stay with me, and the rest Focus on hunting rather than patrolling. Ideally, try to fight already weakened or isolated targets. Make sure you prioritize your safety and whatnot. If you find anything that looks like a run, report back. Now, Disperse."

The buzzing of their wings grew louder as all the squadrons of Thornskirmishers scattered in different directions.

'Now, Disperse… Oh, that's a cool one. Maybe I should keep using it.' Alchemy hummed, looking back at her System and tapping on the [Ascend] option.

"So I just gotta reach level 10, huh? Simple enough."

Since she had the materials on hand, Alchemy began building the [Mine], placing it haphazardly next to the storage. She couldn't find anywhere that looked nice, so it rested randomly like her other buildings until she decided to reorganize.

A few minutes later, Sapphire returned to what she thought was her lord's throne, only to be scared by a large hut. Confusedly, she looked around, seeing the Sylvan Carvers and Granitects doing their things as usual, as if a massive hut didn't just appear out of nowhere.

"Sapphire! You like the new house?" Alchemy asked, appearing beside Sapphire without them noticing, causing them to jump back in a panic.

"I'll take that as a yes. You should get used to it. You already saw the transparent window hanging out in your peripherals, right?" Alchemy chuckled.

In the eyes of Alchemy, Sapphire was an NPC who she turned into an ally. She wasn't sure if they could see the system before becoming her subject. Afterward, however, she knew that all her produced units could see it, so it was more than likely that Sapphire was able to as well.

Sapphire narrowed their eyes as they looked between Alchemy and the hut. She had no idea what kind of black sorcery Alchemy was using all this time, and she wondered if it was too late for her to go and find her herd…
