Kingdom of Corrosion

Chapter 21: Chapter 20 Siege (Part 1)

At six o'clock in the early morning, Stone dismantled all the structures in the base, and each person was allowed to take as many items as they could carry in addition to a basic pack. The residential area of North Town began to see an increase in the number of players, with one base on the left and another on the right, and it was already rare to see zombies wandering the streets.

Some players set up signs at their base entrances seeking trades, while others shuttled through the town transporting supplies. Maya estimated that North Town could barely support these players, but not a single one more. However, without the ability to produce, as soon as the town's resources were scavenged, these players would have to face the difficult decision of where to go next.

The group passed by Olive Manor, and Lin Wu asked everyone to wait for a moment. He took the marker he had scavenged the night before and added a sentence under the Olive Manor's sign: "Olive Manor is recruiting, with food and lodging provided, protected by four assault rifles, implementing an individual system, two more spots open, new recruits welcome to report to the manor, let's build a beautiful home together."

Hehe! It's not about whether it can fool people, it's about how little time and cost were involved for oneself.

Lin Wu had been thinking about the key he obtained after killing Amanda, but facing the minefield and Beast Trap formation in front of the manor, he also had no good solution. He hoped that enough players would be tricked, tricked into paving a path for him, step by step.

Four bicycles from the farm villa were already waiting at the intersection. After four people sat on the rear seats of the bicycles, the eight people quickly arrived at the farm base. The farm base had a crafting station where a man in his thirties took the bottles and cloth strips from Lin Wu and the others and immediately started making Molotov Cocktails. Taking this opportunity, Maya introduced everyone.

The crafting station uncle, Su Shi, mainly focused on intelligence, with extreme allocation in his stats. He had a carpenter's entry, which allowed him to save some materials and speed up crafting time. The dual intelligence attribute further saved materials and improved efficiency. All he needed was a corresponding Skill Book to take off on the spot.

Snow Egg: Male, frail and thin, with a height of 1.9 meters and a weight of only 60 kilograms, was an all-rounder, also with extreme stat allocation, specializing in heavy weapons.

Horse Soul: A young, handsome guy with strength and physique attributes, handy with blunt weapons.

Tangtang: Female, with strength and agility attributes, skilled with both short and long blades.

Cotton: Female, with the same agility and physique build as Lin Wu, proficient with short blades.

In the combat arrangements, aren't there eight people? Why are there nine?

Maya explained that Su Shi was a Dizzy Zombie, purely a logistics personnel, with no combat capability. That was also why Su Shi chose to solely add points to intelligence; he had planned from the beginning to find a sunny and auspicious location to survive for a couple of years.

After getting acquainted with each other, Maya informed the members of the farm base that the farm base would merge with Shadow Base, and the new base would be called Shadow Base. The farm members had no objections. These people were all ones Maya had brought out from the nest of death, so they respected and trusted her greatly. Following that, Maya began arranging the teams and tactics.

The soldiers split into two groups: Snow Egg, Stone, Tangtang, and Maya would guard the main road. Little Knife, Lin Wu, Horse Soul, and Cotton would deal with the church zombies. Su Shi would not join the fight; he would stay at the farm for recycling work.

After a brief explanation of the plan, the eight people rode bicycles to the church at the top of the hill. On arrival, they first quickly cleared the zombies near the entrance. The four people forming the defense stayed behind, while the remaining four split into two teams to encircle the front and rear doors of the church.

Little Knife and Lin Wu were a team, while Horse Soul and Cotton made up the other, each equipped with blunt and sharp weapons. The sharp blade led the way with the blunt weapon following behind, and both teams made it to their destination with ease. At eight o'clock sharp, both teams launched their attack together.

The back door led to a ten-square-meter room filled with more than ten zombies, including a Screeching Zombie. Lin Wu improvised and activated Wind Stinger twice in quick succession, flashing behind the Screeching Zombie to finish it off with a single blow. Meanwhile, the screech's long howl came from the church's main entrance, indicating Cotton at the front hadn't managed to deal with the Screeching Zombie smoothly. With one screech, all the zombies within a hundred meters rushed towards the sound. Some zombies wandered under the cliff for a while before dispersing, while others ran along the edge of the cliff, successfully finding the junction.

The battle ensued at the junction. Maya stood on a rock, targeting Screeching Zombies with crossbow arrows. As more zombies appeared, Maya's arrows aimed at the Screechers were repeatedly blocked by other zombies. The most valiant defender was Snow Egg, who wielded a fifteen-kilogram sledgehammer, swung it in a circle, and knocked down a swath of zombies in front of him; two of them had their heads burst open and died on the spot. However, this move was stamina-draining, and even with all his points in stamina, he could only step back and chew a piece of gum to stand still and wait for his stamina to recover after swinging twice.

...

The room Lin Wu was in was too small, and there were too many zombies for him to wield his weapon properly. Now was the time for the blunt weapons to shine. Little Knife struck left and right, clearing a path to reunite with Lin Wu. Lin Wu pulled out a water pipe, temporarily turning into a blunt weapon fighter, and began brawling with the nearby zombies.

Little Knife's punches, kicks, and hammer strikes repeatedly resolved crises for both her and Lin Wu. Due to Little Knife's main strength, coupled with the power buff from Big Stomach King, her damage output was quite high. Every so often a zombie's head would burst from her blows. However, Little Knife's stamina was also rapidly depleting, which was when her secondary attribute, Will, came into play. The lower the stamina, the slower it depleted. In layman's terms, she was fighting on willpower.

After Little Knife disrupted the zombies in the room, the killer Lin Wu demonstrated his skills, dodging nimbly and striking fatally with his blade. With Little Knife intentionally providing protection, Lin Wu went on a killing spree. In less than a minute, the two of them had taken care of fourteen zombies.

Moving from the back door towards the front, there was a hallway with six rooms along its sides. The hallway was crammed with zombies, including the Exploding Carnage that Maya had specially warned them about. Exploding Carnage was distinctive, standing at one meter ninety with a particularly large belly and a notably small head. Little Knife took the lead in blocking the oncoming zombies: "Molotov Cocktail."

Lin Wu took out a Molotov Cocktail from his backpack, lit the cloth with a lighter, and threw it into the zombies. The Molotov Cocktail broke and burst into countless flames. The Exploding Carnage, lit by the fire, stood still as its body turned red and began to swell at an alarming rate. Lin Wu pulled Little Knife backwards by the hands while she waved her arms and kicked wildly with her legs. Accompanied by an earth-shattering explosion, all the zombies in the hallway were wiped clean.

Lin Wu and Little Knife were then blown into a small room by the huge shockwave and fell to the ground.

"How are you?" Lin Wu asked.

Little Knife answered, "Light injury on the right hand, strike strength and speed reduced by 2%. 78 health points left, 10% infection. How about you?"

"No injury, no infection." Although Little Knife was small, she was qualified as a shield.

Although the zombies in the hallway were cleared, there were still zombies in the rooms. Zombies from the six rooms surged out, retaking the hallway. Unlike the previous zombies, half of this group were Blood Zombies. The fighting strength of Blood Zombies was consistent with ordinary zombies, but their infection rate was doubled—a bite meant 40% infection.

The screams kept coming from the junction, and with each howl, zombies from within a hundred meters rapidly converged. One could only imagine the pressure on the defenders at the junction.

"Molotov Cocktail." Little Knife, blocking the zombies, declared, "Even if we die, we'll use everything we have." From the current situation, if they couldn't take the church atop the hill today, everyone would die; no one would escape.
