Chapter 114: Chapter 113: Methods
Chapter 113: Methods
"Fire Style: Dragon Flame Bomb!"
From Uchiha Yoshinari's mouth emerged three blazing fire dragons, each hurtling toward the Sand ninja and his puppet from different directions.
The scorching flames engulfed the target, snapping every chakra string almost simultaneously. Even the expertly crafted puppet couldn't withstand the inferno and was reduced to a charred metallic skeleton.
Seeing the seamless teamwork between Yoshinari and Nara Yoshino, Tonari couldn't help but smirk.
"Not bad. After all my 'tireless' efforts at nurturing you, Yoshinari, your explosiveness has reached new heights! Sure, it's a bit short-lived, but hey, that's fine—guys don't need to last forever in a fight."
Turning to Yoshino, he added, "And your timing? Impeccable. Keep it tight when needed, and loosen up when you can."
Yoshinari, unamused by the teasing, sighed as Tonari casually threw an arm around his shoulders.
After a year of working together, Yoshinari had long grown used to Tonari's antics. Though the spark of rivalry from their earlier clashes had dimmed, Yoshinari's competitive drive remained strong—only now, it was less about vengeance and more about surpassing a teammate he grudgingly respected.
Suddenly, a thud drew their attention. A limp body hit the ground near them as Tsunade and Mugime Kodachi landed close by.
The body belonged to Senjuuro, the Sand ninja team leader. Despite being a special jonin, he was no match for Tsunade's raw strength and tactical precision.
---
"Got anything we can use?"
Tsunade directed her question at Kodachi.
If they could extract valuable intel from the captured ninja—like the Sand's deployment in the area—it would give their team a crucial advantage. It might reveal vulnerabilities in the Sand's formation, increasing their chances of infiltrating the besieged stronghold while minimizing casualties.
Kodachi hesitated, scratching his head.
"Tsunade, you know this isn't my strong suit. I'm not exactly a skilled interrogator. One wrong move, and I might just... you know, accidentally kill him."
Tsunade frowned, tapping her foot impatiently. Kodachi's honesty was admirable, but it didn't solve the problem.
"Give up now, and you'll regret it," Kodachi barked at the Sand ninja, trying to intimidate him into talking.
The captive's dull, defiant eyes made it clear he wasn't planning to cooperate. He didn't even flinch when a kunai pierced his leg, merely gritting his teeth and letting out a muffled groan.
Tonari, observing the lack of progress, stepped forward with a mischievous grin.
"Let me handle this. I appreciate a tough guy when I see one."
Turning to Tsunade and Kodachi, he added, "You've all had your turn. Time for the rookie to show how it's done."
Though skeptical, Tsunade and Kodachi reluctantly stepped aside.
---
"志微, lend me a few of your kikaichū."
Tonari extended a hand toward the silent, stoic member of the Aburame clan. Without a word, Aburame Shibi complied, releasing a handful of tiny black beetles into Tonari's palm.
From Tonari's sleeve, several slender snakes slithered out, their beady eyes glinting with an unsettling curiosity.
"A word of warning, everyone. This might get... messy. If you're squeamish, I recommend looking away," Tonari said, glancing at his teammates.
His suggestion only seemed to pique their curiosity further. Even Tsunade crossed her arms, clearly unimpressed by his attempt to scare them.
"Blood doesn't bother me, kid," Tsunade scoffed. "Try me."
The others seemed equally determined to prove their mettle.
Tonari sighed, muttering, "Don't say I didn't warn you..."
---
What followed could only be described as horrifying.
Within seconds of Tonari's methods being applied, Nara Yoshino turned pale, covering her eyes and retreating to lean against a tree.
Soon after, Minato, Akimichi Doutou, and Yoshino joined her, their faces green with nausea.
Even Uchiha Yoshinari, who prided himself on his mental fortitude, broke out in a cold sweat. His Sharingan spun wildly as he struggled to keep his composure. Beside him, Kodachi looked equally disturbed.
Forty seconds in, even Tsunade—an experienced medical ninja who had seen countless gruesome surgeries—gave up and turned away, clutching her stomach.
Only two remained unfazed: Tonari, who continued his gruesome work with an eerie calm, and Shibi, who observed with an almost academic curiosity.
---
After five minutes, Tonari stood up, brushing dirt from his hands.
The snakes slithered back into the shadows, while the kikaichū returned to their master.
On the ground lay the Sand ninja, trembling uncontrollably and foaming at the mouth. He was clearly broken, whatever resolve he had utterly shattered.
Turning to Shibi, Tonari gave him a thumbs-up.
"Impressive insects you've got there. They're the real MVPs."
Shibi adjusted his glasses, his expression thoughtful.
"I never realized kikaichū could be used this way," he said, his tone intrigued. "You've shown me a new application for their abilities. Once I report this to the clan, you might even be recognized as an honorary contributor to our techniques."
Tonari's smile faltered. "Uh... no need to thank me! This was all you, really. I'm just a humble medical ninja..."
He shuddered at the thought of being associated with future Aburame interrogation methods.
---
By the time the others recovered, Tonari had extracted all the information they needed.
"Tsunade, next time, maybe we should bring an actual interrogation expert. I don't think my techniques are suitable for everyday use," he said.
Tsunade, still pale, glared at him. "Next time, keep your 'methods' to yourself. That was... excessive."
"Noted."
Shibi, however, seemed to have found a new purpose.
"I promise to use this method only when dealing with the strongest, most resilient enemies," he declared solemnly.
Tonari winced, silently mourning the fate of any future prisoners who found themselves in Shibi's hands.
