Chapter 16: Restorative potion
------
"Wait...."
"Not just me and my mother! Almost everyone in the Ninja World naturally has this kind of innate trait!"
"So does this mean: if people from the Ninja World came to the Pirate World, or had access to the resources of this world, they'd all be geniuses at physical training?!!!"
Uchiha Kaito mused to himself.
However, he understood that even with the same triple cell count, individuals would still show significant differences in talent for body training.
Might Guy's aptitude for physical training far surpassed the majority of people in the Ninja World.
"Hmm! Once Might Guy is born, I'll find a way to bring him under my wing," he thought decisively.
"In fact, I can start by showing favor to his father now, earning his loyalty and goodwill, and make him an ally first!"
Kaito was convinced Might Duy's talent in taijutsu was no less than Might Guy's.
The disparity in their achievements stemmed from the constraints of conditions and foundational resources.
Might Duy perfected the Eight Gates Technique entirely on his own, leaving him riddled with hidden injuries in the process, which severely limited his potential.
And resources? Forget it.
In comparison, Might Guy had his father's guidance and access to some resources. Though limited, they were far better than what Duy started with.

"You get it now!"
Kureha, seeing that Kaito was listening, didn't press further. Instead, she began walking toward the door, asking as she went, "I've shown you my sincerity. Shouldn't you hand over those medical texts now?"
Following her, Kaito chuckled. "All my medical knowledge is in my head. Recently, I've transcribed over a hundred volumes, which I can give you for now.
"The rest will take more time to copy. I hope you understand!"
And even if she didn't, it wasn't like he had a choice.
"Oh?"
Kureha shot him a surprised glance but didn't doubt his words. "Fine! Over a hundred books will keep me busy for a while.
"Your memory is even better than I thought!"
Soon, the two returned to the living room.
Under Kureha's watchful gaze, Kaito waved his hand, summoning over a hundred transcribed medical books from his spatial storage.
He turned to Kureha and said, "Here you go. You can read them, but I won't be giving them to you permanently. I don't want to copy them all over again!"
"You can make your own copies. No problem, right?"
Kaito planned to use some of these medical texts to trade with Tsunade for her medical ninjutsu knowledge and related techniques.
As for trading with the village?
That idea had never crossed his mind.
For now, he wanted to avoid any entanglements with the Third Hokage and his faction.
"You brat! Making things difficult for an old woman like me!"
Kureha's expression stiffened slightly, but she snatched up a book and began flipping through it.
As for Kaito's ability to pull so many books out of thin air, she barely raised an eyebrow.
In her century-long life, she had seen plenty of incredible Devil Fruit abilities.
Spatial storage abilities, though rare, weren't unheard of.
"Heh!"
Kaito spread his hands with a grin. "You wouldn't let me take your originals either, right? It's only fair we copy each other's books!"
Kureha had thousands of medical books. If Kaito wanted to copy them all, who knew how long it would take?
For now, he planned to memorize them all first.
Later, he would copy specific ones as needed.
Having a good memory made everything so much easier.
Accompanied by his mother, Kaito visited a nearby town to purchase a large quantity of medicinal herbs, enough to last them a long time.
Once back, he began preparing medicinal concoctions.
At first, Kureha noticed Kaito's movements were a bit clumsy, but his skills and precision improved rapidly. She wasn't surprised in the least.
Kaito's prior-life experience in pharmaceutical preparation made it easy for him to adapt and succeed. His initial awkwardness stemmed from his body's unfamiliarity with the task, but that was quickly overcome.
[You have prepared a restorative potion. Proficiency in pharmacology +1. Proficiency in traditional medicine +1.]

After preparing over twenty potions, Kaito handed one to his mother.
"Here, Mom. Try this and see how it works!"
"Alright!"
Uchiha Jiri drank the potion without hesitation.
Soon, a soothing warmth spread through her body. Wherever it flowed, lingering injuries and hidden ailments quickly healed.
Then hunger struck her like a storm.
Kaito had anticipated this. With a wave of his hand, he brought out pre-prepared gourmet dishes from his spatial storage, placing them on the table.
"Eat! Once you're full, practice the Longevity cultivation technique to maximize the effects."
After saying this, Kaito took a potion himself, stored the remaining ones, and closed his eyes to feel the changes in his body.
[You consumed a top-grade restorative potion. Body functions recovering... lifespan increasing...]
He could clearly feel the weaknesses in his organs, which he had long attributed to congenital deficiencies, rapidly healing.
When the effects were mostly absorbed, hunger overwhelmed him as well.
Opening his eyes, Kaito joined his mother at the table, devouring plates of meat from Sea Kings.
As the Sea King meat reached his stomach, a wave of vitality spread through his body.
His digestive capabilities had increased tenfold since he first began eating Sea King meat, thanks to his Longevity cultivation training and restoration of his life essence.
After finishing a large plate of Sea King meat, Kaito moved to an open area and began practicing the Longevity cultivation technique.
[You trained with Sea King meat as an aid. Proficiency +7. Lifespan +7. Life essence +0.025.]
[...]
"Exactly as expected. The effects have improved. Excellent!"
Seeing the notifications, Kaito's face lit up with a broad smile.
At this rate, he could fully recover within a month.
"You brat! If you make so many potions at once without proper storage, the efficacy will degrade over time!"
Kureha, occasionally glancing up from her book, reminded him while thinking, "This must be their primary method of recovery—a sort of Health cultivation system. Impressive!"
She wanted to learn it herself; it could undoubtedly benefit her.
But now wasn't the time. She didn't have the right bargaining chips yet.
For now, she planned to observe and build a better relationship with Kaito.
"Thank you for the reminder!"
Kaito replied without pausing his training, "I have special storage methods to prevent efficacy loss."
"My mistake, then," Kureha said, casting another glance at the fresh, steaming food on the table. Suddenly, everything clicked.
"I appreciate the thought, though!" Jiri interjected with a warm smile.
This "witch doctor" was far easier to get along with than expected, and her skills were extraordinary.
Jiri felt it was essential to maintain a good relationship with someone like Kureha. A top-tier medical expert was an invaluable ally.
