Chapter 1: Pilot
Earth, Fire, Air, Water; the four elements that make up the world. Throughout my whole life, I have heard stories of Avatar Aang and how he took down the 100-year tyrannical reign that was the Fire Nation. Now it's been over 40 years since Ozai's rule and now a new threat emerges and a new generation is there to solve the threat. This is a story of how I met Avatar Korra and her friends as well as the adventures we went on.
———
At a Southern Water Tribe port, there was a United Forces ship. Inside it, a young man who was wearing a black ninja-like uniform was standing before the door of the General's quarters. He also had a set of weapons consisting of two escrima sticks that were holstered on his back with a black leather harness with a grapple gun that was holstered on his right hip. The said young man was 18 years old with black hair that was pomped up and slicked back. He had sickly pale skin with pale green eyes as he was starting to be extremely nervous as he had a paper in hand.
Soon, a man who was in his early-to-mid 30s with black hair and amber eyes had opened the door. He wore a jacket colored red with gold trimmings, a black belt, and white trousers. Prince Iroh, who is also the General of the United Forces, smiled fondly at the man.
"Come in, Kang," the man said.
The said boy nodded as he entered the room and the man sat down on the desk.
"How can I help you, Captain?" Iroh asked.
"I uh, wanted to submit this," Kang said as he handed Iroh a pile of papers. Iroh looked at them and started to look at Kang with a hint of concern.
"Are you sure you want to call for an honorable discharge?" Iroh asked, "Have you spoken with—"
"I've spoken with my Commander," Kang said, "he and I had a long winded conversation, more so of him rambling on."
"That's Commander Bumi for you," Iroh said, "though I am sad to see you leave. The United Forces will not be the same without you."
"I need a different direction in life," Kang said, "and besides, my parents have been hounding me with letters asking when I'm coming home, it's time for me to do so."
"I understand," Iroh said. He soon took out a stamp and put it on the discharge paperwork. He soon stood up and held his hand out to Kang, "Good luck on your future endeavors, Captain."
"Thank you, General Iroh," Kang said as he and his superior officer shook hands.
…
As Kang was on a ferry, he looked out to the nightly sky as he was wondering what life at home is going to be like after being away for so long.
As the ferry came into dock; the door opened to show Kang who now had a white t-shirt that showed a dragon sleeve tattoo. While he still had his weapons sheathed, he had also carried a massive duffle back what had clothes as he was walking back to his home.
"It's good to be home," Kang said.
…
He walked along the streets of Republic City and remembered the city as if it was his house. Every avenue, every street and can't help but smell the food and how good it may taste, but he decided to go to another restaurant.
He walked to a restaurant that read, "Keung's Sichuan House." Kang entered the door and inside was an older man who was serving a table. It was very busy as the restaurant is almost at full capacity. The said older man saw who was at the door and was shocked, but then surprised to see Kang at the door.
"Kang!" the older man said, "Sit anywhere that's open, I'll get you set up in a minute."
Kang smiled as he sat down and put his duffle bag and weapons next to him as he sat in a small booth area. He saw how alive the restaurant was and was glad this business was booming. The man soon approached Kang.
"The usual sliced duck, komodo chicken, and sliced beef shanks all in a plethora of the usual sichuan mouth numbing spices and oil?" The older man asked.
"And some mouth numbing noodles?" Kang asked with a smirk.
"Sure," the man said, "I would love to catch up with you, but I've been busy."
"No worries, I'll be okay," Kang said with an understanding smile.
As the older man went into the kitchen, Kang sat down in his seat and relaxed as he was enjoying his time being back home. He hasn't heard of anything happening in the city and was wanting to wait until he came back to see how the city has been after being gone for so long.
…
After finishing a massive feast, Kang paid for his food although the owner insisted on it being in the house and left the restaurant. He kept walking around and had decided to go to a shopping area where a lot of people his age are. He decided to sit down and relax on a bench and took out a book and started reading. Some of the girls walked past Kang and were whispering amongst themselves about how handsome Kang was as he continued reading his book.
He soon decided to move on to another area as he put his duffle back over his shoulder and started walking off to a harbor. He ended up in a commercial area of the city and was taking a break, sitting down as a girl who was wearing Water Tribe clothing and her polar-bear dog approached him.
"Excuse me," the Water Tribe girl called for Kang, "I think I'm lost. How do I get to Air Temple Island from here?"
Kang perked up after hearing Air Temple Island and decided to stand up.
"Oh uh you and your polar bear dog can follow me," Kang said, "I'm going there too."
"Thanks," the Water Tribe girl said, "I'm Korra by the way. And this is Naga, my polar bear dog."
Kang remembered his Father saying the name Korra before asking another question.
"So what brings you to Republic City?"
"Oh just here to see someone," Korra said, "what about you?"
"I've been away for a while," Kang said, "decided it's time for me to come back home after 6 years."
"What were you doing before?" Korra asked.
Before he could reply, a Satomobile started pulling up. Three doors opened to show three men coming out, one wearing clothing resembling the Fire Nation, one wearing clothing that of the Water Tribes, and lastly one that wore threads that belonged to the Earth Kingdom. They were approaching an old man who was selling record players and other fine accessories.
"What's going on?" Korra asked as she stopped to watch the scene.
"Just keep walking," Kang said, "we can't interfere."
"Why?"
"Just trust me," Kang said, "They are the Triple Threat Triad. Let the police handle this."
Korra grunted as she and Kang kept watching.
"Mr. Chung," the Water Tribe Triad member said, "please tell me that you have my money. Or else I can't guarantee I can protect your fine establishment."
"I'm sorry," the older man said, "business has been slow. Please take one of my phonographs."
Soon the Firebending Triad member did an ax kick with firebending and burned the said device.
"My friend here is not a music lover," the Waterbending Triad member said, "give me the money or else—"
Korra couldn't take any more as she started to walk forward and Kang was about to stop her, but he was too late.
"Or else what, hoodlum?" Korra asked.
Kang grunted as he put down his duffle bag and stood beside Korra. She had her hands on her hips while Kang had his arms crossed with a scornful look on his face. The three Triad members looked at each other before they started laughing.
"Since you're obviously fresh off the boat," the Waterbending Triad member said, "let me explain a couple of things. You're in Triple Threat Triad territory, and we're about to put you and your friend in the hospital."
Korra started to have a smirk on her face as she said, "You're the ones who are gonna need a hospital. And for your sake, I hope there's one nearby."
"Who do you think you are?" the Waterbending Triad member said.
"Why don't you come and find out?" Korra said while cracking her knuckles.
The Waterbending Triad member dug into his trench coat and used Waterbending to shoot a fast shot, but Korra caught it and deflected it right back at his face, but not without freezing it with his face in there. Due to the ice being heavy on his face he walked forward involuntarily only for Kang to step up with one escrima stick in his hand and used it to hit the triad member in the face. The said man flew to the side and the ice broke on impact of the Satomobile, knocking him out.
Soon the Earthbending Triad member was about to fight, but Korra stomped the ground only for a slab of concrete to launch the said man high in the air and then falling into a stand where there were fresh fruits.
Kang soon looked at Korra and realized who she is as the Firebending triad member was using Firebending at Korra, only for the flames to die by her. She later threw the man into another store, making Kang cringe and realize that they were now in trouble.
"Got any idea of who I am now, chumps?" Korra said while chuckling at them.
Soon the Satomobile started driving with the Waterbender behind the wheel and the Earthbender next to him. They picked up the Firebender and went full throttle on the accelerator.
"You're not getting away," Korra said, as she used Earthbending to try to flip the Satomobile on its side. As it managed to stay upright, it turned a sharp right and drove straight into another shop. Kang sighed as he knew that they were going to be arrested. As Kang and Korra heard police sirens wailing, Kang knew they were going to be in trouble.
"Police," someone said through the speakers, "Freeze where you are."
The door opened and three people in black armor jumped out of the airship and shot two wires from each of them and slowly descended to the ground. Soon another officer jumped out and the said officer had a captain badge on his hat while the other officers had no badge on their hats.
"Cool, Metalbenders," Korra said.
"No, not cool," Kang said, scolding Korra.
"Why?"
Before Kang could talk Korra spoke up to the officers who were walking towards them, "We caught the bad guys for you officers."
"Arrest them," the Police Captain said. Three officers wrapped metal wires around each of the Triad members and then the Captain walked towards Kang and Korra.
"You're both under arrest too."
Korra gasped in shock while Kang accepted his fate and threw his hands up to show he surrendered. The captain put cuffs on Kang as he was the one to comply.
"What do you mean we're under arrest?" Korra asked in confusion, "those are the bad guys over there. They were smashing up a shop."
"From the looks of it, you smashed up a lot more than that," the captain said after he was done putting cuffs on Kang. He later shifted his attention to Korra and shot a metal wire only for Korra to catch it.
"Wait," Korra said, "You can't arrest me. Let me explain."
"You can explain yourself all you like down at headquarters," the captain said. He shot another wire only for Korra to dodge and do a back spring. The polar bear dog soon ran towards the captain, but Kang was in the way so he did a backflip to move out of the way as Naga bumped into the police captain. Korra soon jumped onto Naga and started to ride off. Kang looked at the captain and helped him up by giving the officer his cuffed hands.
"Thank you for not running and evading arrest, Captain," the Police Captain said with a familiar smirk on his face.
"You're welcome Captain Saikhan," Kang said with a smirk on his face, "and I'm no longer a Captain, I had turned in my discharge papers to the General."
"Oh that's unfortunate, but since I'm still here, why don't I ask you what happened," the man said.
"Well it all started when I met Ko— excuse me, Avatar Korra…" Kang said.
…
After taking Kang's statement, the Police escorted Kang back into the station and into a jail cell where he was for a few minutes until Korra was brought in. But the charges towards Kang were soon dropped as the Triad wasn't able to prove Kang used excessive force.
As soon as Kang was released, some officers took Korra into an interrogation room and Kang, still being a Military Captain by a technicality, was able to accompany her into the interrogation room. While Kang was walking with them, he realized that his discharge paperwork was most likely yet to be filed and processed so for all they know, he is still a United Forces Captain and some of the officers addressed him as Captain.
Korra wasn't in a good position, she was cuffed for damaging property. She was inside a metal room that was quiet and cold. The door soon opened with his neutral expression, but Korra could tell he wasn't happy to say the least.
"So you're the Avatar…" Kang said with his arms crossed.
"Yeah…" Korra said, "and you are?"
"I'm Kang," Kang said.
As Korra looked at him as if she knew him, the door across the room slid open. A stern looking woman with gray hair and wearing a black police uniform walked in. Her uniform was clearly made of metal, like Captain Saikhan. However, unlike the bulky, light gray armor that the other Metalbenders wore, this woman's uniform was darker and sleeker with gold accents around the shoulders and down the arms.
"Did you interrogate her?" the woman asked.
Kang shook his head, "No ma'am, I'm leaving that part for you."
Clearly, this woman was important. As she got closer, Korra could see she had pale green eyes, 2 parallel scars on the right side of her jaw, and what looked to be a perma-scowl on her face.
"Let's see, multiple counts of destruction of private and city property," the older woman began as she walked around Korra, "not to mention threatening a protester. You're in a whole mess of trouble young lady."
"You threatened a protester!?" Kang looked at Korra with a mix of shock and anger.
"But that protester was the one trying to cause trouble," Korra tried to explain, "And those thugs were threatening a helpless shopkeeper and I had to—"
"Can it!" the grumpy woman said as she slammed the clipboard down on the table. "You should have called the police and stayed out of the way."
"But I couldn't just sit by and do nothing. It's my duty to help people," Korra explained. "See, I'm the Avatar."
Kang shook his head and cringed as he knew that argument was not going to work with the woman.
"Oh I am well aware of who you are," the policewoman replied, "and your AVATAR title might impress some people, but not me."
Finally having enough of this disrespect, Korra collected herself. "Alright, fine," she said with determination. "Then I want to talk to whoever's in charge."
"You're talking to her," the older woman informed Korra as she took a seat in the chair across the table. "I'm Chief Beifong."
"Wait, Beifong… Lin Beifong?" Korra asked as she finally made the connections. "You're Toph's daughter!"
"What of it?"
"Then why are you treating me like a criminal?" Korra asked, clearly confused about the whole situation. "Avatar Aang and your Mother were friends. They saved the world together."
"That's ancient history, and it's irrelevant with the mess you're in right now," Lin explained. "You can't just waltz in here and use your feminine wiles to get my son to go along with you as you dole out vigilante justice like you own the place!"
"Your son?" Korra asked.
Kang cleared his throat and Korra soon realized that the man whom she was sitting next to was Chief Beifong's son.
"Do you have anything to say for yourself?" Lin asked Kang.
"Okay, first of all, MOTHER I was not under her feminine wiles. And secondly all I did was allegedly use excessive force on a known Triad member," Kang said, "I had just come back home after being under active duty with the United Forces for the past 6 years."
"You are with the United Forces?" Korra asked.
"WAS," Kang said, "and I was first stationed with the Second Battalion under Commander Bumi as a Commander's-aide, his right-hand man and then became a Captain to the Special Forces Division two years after."
"All right I heard enough," Lin said in a stern manner, "Now that you're done explaining your brief Military background, CAPTAIN Beifong, how about we have the Avatar start talking."
Before anyone could continue, however, a panel on the side of the wall slid open. Everyone turned and saw Captain Saikhan looking through the opening. "Chief— oh and Captain, Councilman Tenzin is here."
Korra was so relieved that Tenzin had arrived that she almost missed it, but she saw Kang having a look of shock and anxiety. Kang took a deep breath as he managed to steel himself.
Apparently oblivious to her son's shock, Lin let out an annoyed sigh, "Let him in."
The door slid open revealing a tall, middle-aged man with a dark brown pointed beard. His head was shaved, revealing the iconic arrow-shaped tattoos that identified the man as an Airbending master. This man was Tenzin, son of Avatar Aang and a councilman of the United Republic.
His irritated expression quickly morphed into surprise as he noticed the other man in the room. "Oh, Kang. I didn't realize you were back in Republic City," Tenzin said.
The young man cleared his throat rather loudly as he made a face to say now isn't the time to be informal, "Councilman Tenzin, it's good to see you again," Kang replied formally.
"Oh, right," Tenzin murmured as he recognized the situation that they were in. He then cleared his own throat and spoke in a formal voice. "Captain Beifong, it's good to see you as well."
Tenzin then turned his attention to the person who was in charge as he tried to put on a pleasant smile. "Lin, you're looking radiant as usual," Tenzin said as he did his best to inject a bit of cheerfulness in his voice.
"Cut the garbage, Tenzin," Lin said, curtly. Clearly, she was not in the mood for false pleasantries. "Why is the Avatar in Republic City? I thought you were supposed to be moving down to the South Pole to train her."
"My relocation has been delayed," Tenzin explained. "The Avatar, on the other hand, will be heading back to the South Pole immediately, where she will stay put."
Korra hung her head, and her shoulders had slumped down as she was scolded. "But—!" she tried to protest.
However, Tenzin interrupted any arguments as he continued, "If you would be so kind as to drop the charges against Korra, I will take full responsibility for today's… regrettable events and cover all the damages."
After looking at Korra, she sighed as she waved her hands to uncuff her, "Fine. Get her out of my city!"
"Always a pleasure, Lin," Tenzin said, "Let's go, Korra."
"I'll just walk with them out," Kang said in an awkward manner as he followed the Airbending Master and Korra.
———
After obtaining Kang's weapons and gadgets from the evidence locker, the three started walking off. Korra could feel the awkwardness between Kang and Tenzin as they walked through the halls of the police station. Neither man had said a word since they left the interrogation room. In fact, they hadn't so much as looked at each other. Both men kept their gazes locked forward, never straying from their path.
"So, you two know each other…" Korra half-stated, half-asked as she hoped to break the awkward silence.
Hearing Korra's question, Tenzin finally turned to look at her with a surprised expression. "You don't know who he is? I've told you about him many times."
"You have?" Kang asked in confusion.
"Of course," Tenzin said, "you are my son after all."
Korra soon realized that this was THE Kang Tenzin kept talking about, his oldest son. But her biggest question was how Tenzin had a son with Lin Beifong when he's married to Pema.
"But I thought you were upset with me, when I enrolled in the Academy," Kang said.
"I wasn't okay at first with it," Tenzin said, "but when I got past that, I started to be extremely proud of everything you've accomplished the last 5 years. I know that your grandFather would be proud of what you've done to keep the world safe. We've all done our best to keep up with your exploits."
"Thanks," Kang said.
"How long have you been back home for," Tenzin asked.
"A few hours after I turned in my discharge paper," Kang said, "but I can tell you more after. As we have bigger problems to take care of…"
The two men looked at Korra and saw their glares. She couldn't help but realize how much alike Kang looked compared to Tenzin.
"Look you two, please, don't send me back home," Korra said.
"You blatantly disobeyed my wishes and the orders of the White Lotus," Tenzin said.
Kang soon looked at Korra with a scornful look, "As much as I understand your frustrations, my Father IS right. It's already bad that you didn't listen to him, but it's now worse when you ignore the orders of the White Lotus."
"But Katara agreed with me that I should come," Korra said, "she said my destiny is in Republic City."
Kang started to have a grimace face while Tenzin started going red.
"Don't bring my Mother into this!" Tenzin screamed. Kang can't help but agree as he didn't like it when people bring family into arguments, especially his grandparents, but his Father was being a little too angry about this.
"Look, I can't wait any longer to finish my training," Korra said, "being cooped up and hidden away from the world isn't helping me become a better Avatar. I saw a lot of the city today, and it's totally out of whack. I know that the police are doing their best, but it's just not enough. I understand now why you need to stay. Republic City does need you, but it needs me too," she said, hoping that her intentions would sink in.
Tenzin started to stammer on his words while Kang stayed silent. Tenzin looked to his son for support, but Kang shrugged, making the man sighed in defeat. They continued on in silence until they reached the exit where Naga was waiting for them. She was with a young officer who she had apparently taken a liking to, if his wet face and swirled up hair was anything to go by.
"Is this your polar bear dog, Miss?" he asked as he held the reins out to Korra expectantly.
———
As Kang, Korra and Tenzin were on the boat along Yue Bay, Kang, who managed to get back his massive duffle bag of clothes, went on to tell Korra his parent's history of Tenzin being in a previous relationship before Pema.
"So, my Father met my Mother and had me a few years after dating. It wasn't until I was nine, they started to go their separate ways, but they always wanted the best for me. Sure, their co-parenting was quite bothersome, but they did care for me," Kang looked at Yue Bay as he was talking to Korra about this.
Tenzin merely gave a weary sigh as he looked over his shoulder and saw his son and Korra talking. As she moved to disembark, she could see members of the Order of the White Lotus waiting for her at the end of the ramp.
Korra and the guards were walking towards their own ship when they heard several children shout her name from overhead. Looking up, Korra saw two orange gliders move in for a landing near to where she was standing. The first glider to land actually had two occupants. The pilot was a girl, about 10 years-old, and the rider was a boy, clearly much younger than her. The second was also piloted by a young girl, somewhere between the ages of the other two.
They were all wearing the traditional garb of the Airbenders and were clearly siblings. The girls both had light brown hair, while their younger brother had a shaved head. The younger sister had two bobs in her hair and the oldest only had a single. These were Tenzin's Airbending children: Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo.
"Korra!" they each shouted
"Are you coming to live with us on the island?" asked Ikki excitedly.
Korra knelt down and placed a hand on both Jinora and Ikki's shoulders, "No, I'm sorry Ikki, I have to go home now."
"Aw," Said Ikki.
"But I brought someone who you might like that's gonna live here." Korra said, looking at Kang. The kids looked in her direction and their eyes widened. Kang looked at the kids with a smile and dropped his bag. He went down on one knee and opened his arms out.
"Kang!"
Kang fell to the ground with an "Oomph!" Kang started to laugh as he saw his younger siblings. "Hey goofballs, what's up?" Kang said, smiling down at his three younger siblings.
"It's been forever since we've seen you, that's what," Ikki said as she latched back onto one of his legs.
"Actually, it's only been about 6 months," Jinora corrected. The older sister opted not to grab onto their older brother. "Still, we missed you, Kang," she said with a smile.
"Aww, I missed you too kiddo," Kang picked up Jinora with one arm and Ikki with another. Meelo on the other hand walked up to Kang.
"Oh Captain, my Captain!" the little boy said, saluting.
"At ease, Cadet," Kang said with a smile. "And I'm not a Captain anymore. I quit the military," he explained simply.
"Aww, really? So, does that mean you aren't going to be my Soup-eerie-Or officer when I join the army?" Meelo asked, forlorn even as he struggled to pronounce 'superior.'
"No, sorry kid. But Uncle Bumi is still in the service, maybe he can be your Superior officer like he was once mine," Kang apologized as he allowed Meelo to jump onto his shoulders.
"Are you going to try and keep Korra here? You always said how awesome it would be to meet the Avatar?" Ikki asked in hope.
"Sorry Ikki, it's not my call, but I can say it was great to meet her." He said as he flashed the Water Tribe girl a smile.
Korra returned it and walked to the ship ready to take her home.
"Wait," Tenzin said as he stepped forward, "I have done my best to guide Republic City towards the dream my Father had for it. But you are right. It has fallen out of balance since he has passed. I thought I should put off your training in order to uphold his legacy, but you are his legacy." Tenzin said as he placed a hand on Korra's shoulder, "You may stay and train Airbending here with me," Korra gasped. "Republic City needs its Avatar once again." He finished.
"Yes! Thank you! You're the best!" Korra cheered
The kids cheered also and she hugged them all together. She later let go of the hug and looked at Kang who was still holding onto his siblings.
After she let go, she and Kang ran off with the three Airbending kids. The two teens played with the kids and Tenzin looked at Kang, Jinora, Ikki, and Meelo specifically with a content smile on his face. Tenzin was genuinely happy to see all four of his children back together again, despite one of them being from a different Mother. Perhaps Kang coming back home is a good thing to happen.

In Republic City there was a press conference being held, as the young Avatar stood at the podium, the raucous noise from the assembled reporters and civilians began to die down as silence descended upon the scene. It was quite clear that the young woman was very nervous as she took in the massive crowd, clearly not expecting that many people to come and listen to her speak.
She cleared her throat and took a deep, calming breath. "Hello, I'm Korra," she began somewhat awkwardly, "your new Avatar."
There was a momentary pause as the crowd waited to see if she would continue. After about a second and a half of silence, the reporters decided that was their queue to start launching questions.
"Does this mean you've moved to Republic City?"
"Were you trying to send a message to the Triads the other day?"
"Will you be fighting crime or the anti-bending revolution or both?"
"Will you be working with Chief Beifong and the police?"
The young woman seemed to be struggling to keep up with all the questions she was being bombarded with but tried her best to keep up. "Uh, yes, I am definitely here to stay, but honestly, I don't exactly have a plan yet. See I'm still in training," the self-proclaimed 'New Avatar' tried to explain. "Look, someone recently told me that Avatar Aang wanted me to be as prepared as I could be for the tasks ahead of me. So, for the time being, I'm going to focus on my Airbending training."
That response certainly surprised the chief of police. When the reporter asked the Avatar if she would be fighting the Triads and Equalists, Lin had half-expected the hot-headed Water Tribe girl to jump on top of the podium and challenge Amon and all the Triad bosses to a duel in the town square.
The reporters quickly tried to bombard the young Avatar with more questions. However, she continued on with what she wanted to say, ignoring the reporter's desperate attempts to grab her attention. "I intend to finish my training as soon as I can, so I can begin my duties as the Avatar," the young woman explained. "I know Aang meant for this city to be the center of peace and balance in the world, where people from all walks of life could come together. I believe we can make his dream a reality. I look forward to serving you! I am so happy to be here. Thank you Republic City!"

In a dark, poorly lit basement a group of freedom fighters had just finished listening to the propaganda perpetuated by their corrupt government. An older, lanky man dressed in dark gray and brown leather armor quickly clicked off the radio in frustration. He looked around the small enclosed space to see the reactions of his fellow Equalists. Although he could not see their faces behind the black masks and glowing green goggles, he could tell from their body language that their confidence had been shaken.
It was hard to believe that, with only a few words, a single young woman could so quickly rock the entire foundation of their movement. He couldn't believe it. He had dedicated his entire life to tearing down the immoral system that was subjugating his people. He had even given up his own identity for the cause, becoming known only as 'the Lieutenant,' Amon's greatest soldier and righthand man.
He was a symbol to Nonbenders everywhere, proof that even they could become great warriors capable of standing up to their oppressors. The Lieutenant was a strong leader; he wasn't one of the many faceless and unidentifiable Equalist foot soldiers. And although he did wear a mask with goggles to protect himself in battle, unlike the other Equalists, his nose, mouth, and chin were exposed, as well as his long, thin mustache. Showing that while he was an elite soldier, he was still very much a human.
The Lieutenant turned to a dark, hooded figure in the corner. "Amon," he said in a gravelly voice, "how do you want to handle this?"
The hooded figure was facing a wall of maps. The maps were of not only Republic City, but the entire United Republic. He was studying them, making plans upon plans. He took another moment more before turning to face his Lieutenant, revealing the bone-white mask of Amon.
"So, the Avatar has arrived early. But she seems to be far more cautious than we anticipated," Amon said as he took a step closer to the map of Republic City, analyzing it almost as if it were a Pai Sho board. "It looks like we'll have to modify our plans."

A/N: This is a rewrite of the story and this will take longer to write! I also want to let people know that this story is inspired by Ominious442's story, a Test of Metal as it has an interesting what-if scenario; that being while Lin and Tenzin were together, what if they had a son. I took some liberties as instead of Kang being an Earthbender, he couldn't bend any element at all. But to make up for it, Kang is not only a master martial artist and acrobat, he also has a sense that assassins do which is called Eagle Sense in the Assassin's Creed fandom, but in LOK, it's a sixth sense that only Kang has. Here is the character and his VA:
Kang Beifong - (CV: Crispin Freeman - Sounds like Roy Harper from Young Justice and Kyon from The Melancholy of Haruhi Suzumiya)
