Legends: The Emerald World

Chapter 30: Tentacle Snake

"This is bad." Shin growled fearing that the smoke might attract the abomination, and his fears were in their place. The slithering tentacle stopped slithering and lifted its head, which looked like its butt. No one could tell which part of it was the front and what was the back, like a long disgusting snot worm the tentacles slowly made their way toward the smoking tree.

"Ase, give Char to Mary and get ready. I doubt I can kill this thing alone." He whispered and Ase stood, extending her claws out. "What should I do?"

After their encounter with the dragon, Ase became certain that Shin knew what he was doing most of the time. Listening to his orders was a far closer path to surviving than winging it by her instinct, which told her to run the moment she saw the abomination.

The abominations are not creatures, the tern creature belongs to the living being of the overgod's multiverse. Those things are outsiders, entities from outside the world that aim to one day invade and make it their new home.

No one knows where they come from besides the over god, and he was clearly stating to the world that the abomination had their universe before and they ate it whole, ripped it piece by piece, and now seeks another universe to leech on and suck dry.

They destroyed their world and he would never allow them in, the horrid abomination who couldn't even sustain their world would only lead the universe to destruction and they must be killed on sight. Those parasites sharply reminded Shin of their world and how he and his students had destroyed it with their greed for power.

Shin burst out of the tree running as fast as he could and the abomination immediately attacked. It opened its mouth like a worm, spitting a ball of boiling acid. The simple attack reminded Shin of slimes, but this acid ball was far larger, almost the size of a human's head.

Shin dodged the acid ball and reached down with his hand, picking a stick as he ran, pushing his legs through deep snow, and swung at the abomination's head.

It dodged his attack and coiled around him, squeezing hard. The situation looked back, this thing was far faster and stronger than him, he's just at the level of a regular human being, and facing an otherworldly horror sure wasn't something he could hope to achieve. But everything was going according to plan, Shin was well aware of his weakness, and his compassion's strength.

Ase jumped from the snow, opening her mouth wide open and revealing a terrifying maw akin to that of a big cat. Like a jaguar, she went straight for the abomination's head with a full-power bite. She could hear something crunch beneath her molars so she put even more force, she must kill this thing before it squeeze Shin's soul out of his body.

The abomination struggled, smacking Ase on the ground and the trees, trying to throw her off but Ase held on tight with her claws. Shin was already feeling his ribs almost snap and noticed something, if Ase was already biting the abomination's head…then why is this thing still alive?

At that moment, he noticed the snow shifting beneath them, the abomination's butt was buried beneath the ground. The realization hit Shin hard and he coughed blood, "Two heads!"

Ase's eyes looked back, seeing the abomination's other side opening into a mouth, spitting a ball of boiling acid at her. Ase managed to twist her body and dodge the acid at the last second, but the situation had turned against her, she was now an open target for the abomination.

As he could barely breathe, Shin's mind raced to find a solution. This thing is an abomination, it is a horror from outside the universe itself…it doesn't need to follow the common rules of anatomy. It already seems to have two heads and two brains, what say it won't have a third one tucked in its stomach? Now that he's thinking about it, he could feel like four hearts are beating separately inside slimy flesh wrapped around his body.

There is only one way to kill it that he's sure of, crushing its aura. He could sense that this abomination had an aura like everyone else, a weird one but an aura nonetheless. It'll take him a few seconds to adjust, seconds that he doesn't have.

"Ase…time…" He growled and Ase let go of the abomination's head and swung her claw at the body wrapped around Shin. As the abomination got gouged, the pressure it applied on Shin dropped, allowing him to breathe a bit.

"Keep it busy!"

As did her best to dodge the abomination's attack and make sure it didn't spit acid on Shin, he's basically defenseless in its grasp, trying to kill it.

Soon, Shin finally managed to get a grasp on the abomination's aura and started squeezing it down. It wasn't easy, the more pressure he applied the stronger the abomination's aura fought back, growing harder and harder. But quickly the accumulation of damage from Ase's attacks and Shin's aura manipulation pushed the abomination over its limit and it dropped down, unable to move.

Shin was freed and he immediately pointed at the abomination's long body, "Here, here, here and there. Cut it open and crush the hearts." He fell into the snow, coughing.

"Don't damage its skin!" Mary shouted from the tree, "We can use it to make clothes."

If this abomination could survive in the freezing cold. Its skin might help them. They can't just cut it apart and waste it. "Ase already cut it with her claws earlier, it doesn't matter now." Shin replied and Ase swung her claws at the abomination, doing her best to both reach the hearts and do as minimal damage to the skin as possible.

{Notice: Experience gained, Level increased.}

{Notice: Two stat points gained, four stat points are available.}

Shin heard the notification but ignored it, he already couldn't feel his toes and wanted to get to the fire as quickly as possible. He made a dash for it, but Ase didn't, she grabbed the abomination's corpse by the head and dragged it with her.

Unlike Shin who was tied to one place, freezing to death, Ase was moving around and attacking, which made her warmer through the fight.

Mary looked at the abomination's disgusting slimy skin, she would've thrown up if she had seen such a thing before, but now that she was naked in the freezing cold, that skin looked like just the right thing to cover herself with.

"Bring it!" Mary looked at Ase, "We'll cut it with your claws and make cloaks"."

Shin cut their talk short, "No, we'll make shoes first. Our feet are always wedged in the snow and need more shielding. He looked out, "I've seen some frozen bushes around the trees outside, I'll see if I can make a hemp rope with them."

No one could argue with him so they got to work, but first, he must warm up.
