Legends: The Emerald World

Char dodged the spiders' attacks, leaping from one black thread to another, her eyes burning red with magic. It wasn't just her fighting, Shin was helping with his full consciousness, empowering her movements.

It was simple yet complicated. Shin could take command of his tamed beasts and monsters, directly controlling them for combat. That provides a lot of advantages in combat, but sometimes it's a disadvantage as well.

In this fight with small spiders, a human's reaction time isn't fast enough and Shin can't see all the spiders' moves and attacks. He isn't used to her eight-eyes vision and is finding it difficult to gauge distances when everything is scaled down this much.

Char dodged a spider's bite and punched it in the head with enough force that it exploded into a splash of goo, of which several worms flew out, trying to bite her. A spark of fire burst forth from above her head and the worms turned into ash.

Char is controlling her body thanks to her fast reaction times and compatibility with the body while Shin is controlling her magic and fighting tactics. After seeing how deformed the spiders looked he had already expected that they might transform into something else so he had his fire magic at the ready.

Knowing that even those small spiders are considered abominations made Shin confident in one thing. Everything that moves in this world is now an abomination. There are no animals, no bugs, no monsters, only abominations.

Char fought the spiders all at once, killing one after another as Shin kept hearing the system's notices ringing.

Now that he had a few extra stat points, Shin looked back at his stats, the only thing preventing Char from killing all of those abominable spiders was her speed, she wasn't quite fast enough even with his speed.

Shin immediately decided to invest the five points he got from the abominations back into his speed. Such a stat must be infinitely useful.

Just as he expected, that sudden increase in speed was enough for Char to finish the remaining five spiders.

'Let's hope a bite is all that we'll need.' Hearing Shin's orders, Char turned around and jumped at the egg, singing her fangs in the old dusty crust. For a second, she felt a hint of sour rot, but her eyes flashed red right after. Endless images flashed through Shin and Char's minds, a burning world, hordes of demons, millions of people entangled in an endless demonic web, and a large spider silently sitting alone, slowly starving to death in a lifeless world, occasionally getting visited by an equally starved golden dragon and an ape-man.

The image of the large spider glared back at Char, a sinister smile creeping up across her terrifying face.

Shin was instantly forced out of Char's mind and sent to his body, shocked and confused. Char remained in her place and suddenly started laughing in a human voice. Her tiny spider body expanded, growing until it morphed into a naked tall woman with long silky black hair and six eyes dotted across her face.

She started clapping her hands, "I never expected such luck, to think a thousand years after my death something like this happens… To think such a man with a strong soul managed to survive and even tame a spider, and on top of that managed to get to bite my egg…this can't be anything but a miracle of the gods…wasn't this world long forgotten?"

She looked back with a smile, "This world seems to be overrun by rotten monsters…" She could feel the abominations crawling all over her web. "I'll breed a new generation of spiders with him to rule this corrupt world, and eat him after, that's a good…good plan, I'm starving…" She turned around and took a step in the direction Shin and everyone were in, but suddenly a hand grabbed her by the face.

She stopped, it was her own hand grabbing her.

"Hold up, tall titan, I'll let you know this body is my body." She said with a confused face, and immediately growled, "Bug, I killed your soul."

"Who are you calling a bug you rotten egg. I have a name and that is Char, and this is my body so get out." Char growled at her and the world spider snuffed her soul in the blink of an eye.

"What an eyesore, she's finally…" The moment the world spider sighed in relief, Char's soul popped back out of nowhere, "The hell was that? You did something to me?"

The world spider was sure that she killed Char's soul, and this time she had crushed her no less. But she came back to life as if nothing happened, "Are you an immortal monster immune to death?"

"I don't know anything about that, and I don't care one bit about it. This is my body, and it's going to do what I want it to do. You get out, it's mine and my master's alone!" Char tried to fight back, but it was like a fly trying to push an elephant, the world's spider's soul was just too large and heavy for her to move.

They started walking toward Shin and the other, all the black threads and webbing moving out of their way. Shin had woken up and was now trying to help Ase and Mary deal with the horde of moles.

When the threads cleared, the world spider could get a direct look at Shin, that wasn't a face she recognized, but now that she was standing before him, something about his soul indeed felt off. He looked at her with a shocked face, "Arachne?!"

At that moment, a large smile covered her face. "Hehehehehe…hahahahahahahahahaha!" She started clapping, and all the thread around them flew at the moles, killing them in an instant.

"What a miracle, what luck, what a strange twist of the threads of fate…" She approached Shin and knelt before him, "My lord, my king, my emperor…it's been…far too long…" But at that moment she coughed a mouthful of blood, feeling her insides twisting. Merely controlling the threads like that was enough to strain her body over its limit.

Arachne was nowhere near her true power, limited by Char's body and what little power it got from Shin's body. But even with her organs almost ripping out, she still looked at Shin's face with a smile, "What an ugly mug, I do prefer your old one."

"Shin!" Ase growled, "Who is this woman?"

"And why is she naked?" Mary glared at him, but quickly shook her head, "No, she did control the threads, and did you call her Arachne?"

"This is Arachnophobia as people named her, or Arachne for short, that is what I called her. She is the world's spider I told you about before, or at least her soul." Shin replied as he looked at Arachne, "This is Char's body, but it now took the humanoid form that Arachne had before."

"Char? The little immortal spider?" Arachne smiled, "No wonder, if it's you I don't think it's strange that you managed to find an immortal monster."

"Char isn't immortal…" The moment Shin said that they found themselves standing in the empty void with the roaring black hole in the sky.

[I knew you'd instantly try to kill her and take over her body for the time being, so I made her relatively immortal for the time being.] The overgod spoke over them.

"Who are you?!" Arachne jumped to stand before Shin.

[Live your lives until I call you again.]

They all fell back where they stood, Shin and Char inside the shower and Mary and Ase in the bath upstairs.
