Level Up Machine

Chapter 32 - Another Jackpot (5)

Chapter 32 Another Jackpot (5)

A thrilling sensation surged through Yeong-sik’s body. In this world, the value of iron was never low.

A war against the monsters descending from the northern region was actively ongoing, and there was a prevalent belief that one should always have at least one sword for self-defense.

Moreover, due to the mining equipment being far inferior to modern standards, supply couldn’t keep up with demand.

This was the main reason why Yeong-sik, who could only use ‘extraction’ on minerals, had not been able to rapidly increase his manufacturing skills.

‘This is a jackpot.’

Yeong-sik’s eyes sparkled as he looked down at the Iron Golem corpses. To him, these corpses held value far beyond mere lumps of iron.

“Ugh. There are a ton of Iron Golem corpses piled up here. We could make some money by selling these, but… how are we supposed to move them?”

Yu-na, who had followed Yeong-sik inside, frowned as she looked at the Iron Golem corpses.

Each Iron Golem corpse weighed nearly 5 tons, an absurd weight that was difficult to handle even with her inventory capacity at level 92.

“There’s no need to move them.”

Yeong-sik said with a sly smile. He briefly explained his class to Yu-na.

“Oh… So, you can extract materials from minerals?”

“Yes. I can gather materials that way and use them to create machines.”

“Machines like that mini fan from before?”

“Yes.”

Yeong-sik nodded in response to her question.

An awkward smile formed on Yu-na’s lips.

“But that… wasn’t it useless because there was no outlet?”

At her pointed remark, Yeong-sik shut his mouth firmly. From her perspective, it was a natural reaction since she didn’t know that his right arm had an electrical outlet.

Yeong-sik shrugged and replied to her.

“Maybe I can make a battery or a generator later. Since my manufacturing level isn’t high yet, I think I should take this opportunity to raise it significantly.”

“Hmm. Well, it’s a core skill of your class, so you can’t just ignore it.”

Because of the combat prowess Yeong-sik had shown so far, she had thought of him as an agility-focused warrior, but he was ultimately a production class. It was only natural that his production skills were more important than his combat skills.

“Then, we’ll be resting over there, so call us if you need anything.”

“Yes.”

With that, Yu-na turned towards the place where Gil-soo, Ara, and Han-seong were.

Yeong-sik turned his gaze to the Iron Golem corpses and grinned.

“Let’s get started.”

As soon as Yu-na lightly touched his finger, he approached the fallen Iron Golem first.

“Extract.”

Ding.

[Extraction was successful.]

[You have obtained 97 metal screws, 51 metal parts, 15 metal plates, and 1 C-grade metal core.]

Ding.

[Your Extraction skill has risen to level 2. You can obtain more materials, and the chance of obtaining rare materials has increased.]

‘Nice.’

Yeong-sik grinned as he looked at the message window that appeared before him. He had only used extraction on a single Iron Golem, yet he obtained a substantial amount of materials.

Moreover, the materials marked with a rank were rare. While there were no items requiring rare materials in his manufacturing list yet, they would undoubtedly be useful in the future.

Excited by the materials pouring out, Yeong-sik moved eagerly, using extraction. Each time he used extraction on an Iron Golem, dozens to hundreds of materials came pouring out.

Ding.

[Your Extraction skill has risen to level 3. You can obtain more materials, and the chance of obtaining rare materials has increased. You can now extract from minerals containing magical power of C-rank or lower.]

‘Yes!’

When Yeong-sik used extraction on dozens of Iron Golem corpses, his extraction skill leveled up once again. Raising a skill level even once was difficult, but it had increased by two levels in a short period. And the reward was not just the level-up of his extraction skill.

Yeong-sik looked at the enormous pile of metal parts stacked as high as his height in the middle of the abandoned mine. Among them were more than ten rare metal cores.

“Let’s make something right away.”

Yeong-sik’s eyes sparkled as he looked at the heap of metal parts. Although taking the materials back to the guild house and focusing on manufacturing there was a good option, transporting the mountain of metal materials was no easy task.

‘I want to try making something quickly.’

Thinking that, Yeong-sik opened the list of his manufacturing skill, now at level 2.

[Manufacturing Lv2]

– Coffee Pot (Required materials: 15 metal parts, 20 metal screws, 1 metal plate)
– Toaster (Required materials: 12 metal parts, 21 metal screws, 2 metal plates)
– Massager (Required materials: 11 metal parts, 18 metal screws, 1 metal plate)

‘Why are there only useless household items?’

Yeong-sik grimaced at the array of household items that seemed completely impractical for combat. The main reason for making mechanical products was to raise his Structural Analysis skill level, but the list filled with such useless items was infuriating.

“Sigh…”

But Yeong-sik had no other choice at the moment. Most of the items were things he wouldn’t take even if given for free, but he had to make them to use his Structural Analysis skill.

‘The more I use Structural Analysis on the same item, the less proficiency I gain…’

Yeong-sik decided to distribute the materials he obtained from the Iron Golems appropriately and began making one of each of the three products.

Ding.

[You have successfully manufactured a Coffee Pot.]

[Your proficiency in Manufacturing skill has increased.]

With a clear, bell-like sound, some of the metal materials piled up like a mountain transformed into blue-glowing barcodes and floated in the air. Soon, a coffee pot was made.

“Nice.”

Yeong-sik grinned as he looked at the still mountainous pile of remaining materials.

Ding. Ding. Ding.

The clear bell sound continued to resonate. Since none of the items required time to manufacture or had cooldowns, Yeong-sik kept producing items as long as the materials allowed.

“Oh… It’s a massager?”

Yu-na, watching Yeong-sik with curious eyes, approached him with a look of envy when she saw the massager he had made. She picked up the massager and switched it on.

However, the uncharged massager didn’t work at all, even when the switch was turned on. Yu-na looked at the massager in her hand with a disappointed expression. Then, as if an idea had struck her, she turned to Chae-rin.

“Chae-rin, you can use electric-type magic, right?”

“Huh? It’s not high-grade, but I can use lightning.”

Chae-rin nodded and approached her. Yu-na handed her the massager and said,

“Try infusing a very gentle current into this.”

“Wow! A massager!”

Chae-rin held the massager, looking at it with fascination. It was something she had never seen in this world. She infused a slight current into the massager.

Bang!

“Huh?”

Of course, simply infusing current into the device didn’t charge it. The massager exploded with black smoke. Yeong-sik’s sharp voice rang out towards her.

“What are you doing?”

Each mechanical item was a precious resource for his Structural Analysis skill proficiency.

At his words, Yu-na flinched and gave an awkward smile.

“I just thought maybe it would work somehow… Sorry.”

She apologized to Yeong-sik and looked away. Her and Chae-rin’s eyes met in the air.

“Yeong-sik oppa’s class is really…”

Yu-na quickly covered Chae-rin’s mouth with one hand and dragged her to a corner. She also thought his job, which only produced seemingly useless scrap metal, was trash, but she wasn’t rude enough to say it in front of him.

Yeong-sik ignored them and continued to manufacture items.

Ding.

[Your Manufacturing skill has risen to level 3. New items have been added to your manufacturing list.]

[Manufacturing Lv3]

– Recorder (Required materials: 25 metal parts, 37 metal screws, 3 metal plates)
– Microwave (Required materials: 27 metal parts, 35 metal screws, 4 metal plates)
– Stun Gun (Required materials: 35 metal parts, 25 metal screws, 1 metal plate, 1 C-grade metal core)

“Oh.”

Yeong-sik’s eyes lit up as he looked at the newly updated list.

Yeong-sik’s eyes sparkled. While the other two items were of little interest, the stun gun seemed potentially useful in actual combat.

‘It’s a bit tricky…’

A thought flashed through his mind that he might be better off using a magic item imbued with electric-type magic rather than a stun gun. However, making a stun gun was preferable to continuously producing useless household items. Moreover, the stun gun required a C-grade metal core, a rare material, which would significantly increase his Structural Analysis proficiency.

‘The recorder could be useful too.’

Thinking this, Yeong-sik glanced at the still ample supply of materials. He continued to use his manufacturing skill without pause.

After an hour, the mountain of metal materials started to dwindle.

Yeong-sik converted all the remaining materials, except for the ten metal cores he deliberately set aside, into recorders and microwaves.

Ding.

[Your Manufacturing skill has risen to level 4. New items have been added to your manufacturing list.]

[Manufacturing Lv4]

– Taser Gun (Required materials: 80 metal parts, 95 metal screws, 3 C-grade metal cores)
– Lawnmower (Required materials: 34 metal parts, 44 metal screws, 5 metal blades)
– Drone (Required materials: 150 metal parts, 250 metal screws, 10 metal plates, 10 C-grade metal cores)

“Yes.”

Yeong-sik clenched his fist as he looked at the newly available items. Finally, ‘useful’ items had started appearing on his manufacturing list.

The taser gun was far superior to the stun gun, and the drone, capable of aerial reconnaissance, was incredibly valuable.

‘The problem is the materials…’

Yeong-sik frowned at the enormous amount of materials required compared to the other items. Especially the drone, which needed an absurd amount of resources.

But still, being able to make something useful instead of pointless household items was a significant improvement!

With a satisfied smile, Yeong-sik looked down at the heap of mechanical items on the ground. Now, all that remained was to use his Structural Analysis skill on them.

“Structural Analysis.”

Yeong-sik touched each machine on the ground, using Structural Analysis.

However, since there weren’t many different types, using Structural Analysis multiple times on the same item didn’t significantly increase his proficiency.

Ding.

[Structural Analysis succeeded.]

[Since you have already successfully analyzed this item, you receive a proficiency penalty.]

[It is recommended to use Structural Analysis on different items.]

‘I need more different items!’

Yeong-sik grimaced as he thought about this world, devoid of any machines. He sighed and continued using Structural Analysis on the items he had made.

But his Structural Analysis skill did not level up until only one stun gun remained. Yeong-sik looked at the last stun gun with anxious eyes.

‘Please?’

If his Structural Analysis skill didn’t level up after all this effort, it would have all been for nothing.

Yeong-sik tightly closed his eyes and used Structural Analysis on the last remaining stun gun.
