Ch 27
Chapter 27: Fishing
The little snake sub-beast naturally couldn’t find Grandma Kanglan.
Or rather, even the other people from the Black Snake Tribe were nowhere to be seen by the little snake sub-beast.
“The flood came down swiftly this time. If they didn’t manage to avoid it in time, they might have been washed away,” Ye Ze comforted, “The water hasn’t risen yet. Let’s go back home and bring the remaining items onto the boat. Then we’ll go downstream with the water, and maybe we’ll meet her at some point.”
Ye Ze was well aware that Grandma Kanglan was already dead, her body long gone. No matter how the little snake sub-beast searched, he couldn’t find Grandma Kanglan. So, he had to redirect the little snake sub-beast’s attention elsewhere, trying to minimize Grandma Kanglan’s presence and reduce her “disappearance” impact on the little snake sub-beast.
The little snake sub-beast wasn’t the type to make trouble for no reason.
Living alone, the little snake sub-beast understood the fragility of life very well.
Knowing that when the flood occurred, he actually had a bad feeling. Seeing the vastness of the flood with his own eyes made him realize even more that it would be difficult for the elderly female to escape the winter disaster.
He just didn’t want to admit it.
The little snake sub-beast smiled faintly. “Thank you, Ye Ze.”
Fortunately, he still had Ye Ze by his side, as well as Gray and Little One and Two accompanying him.
“I’ve told you, there’s no need for ‘thank you’ between us,” Ye Ze affectionately stroked his head.
“Ye Ze, Ye Ze, I’ve researched a new pastry today! Try it!” The little snake sub-beast, holding a pale pink porcelain plate, eagerly walked from the cabin to the gangway, approaching Ye Ze and holding the plate high.
Ye Ze lowered his head and saw five chubby dumplings on the plate. Two were shaped like chubby birds, one looked like a little mouse, and the other two were rabbits leaning against each other.
“They look as cute as Nuo Nuo,” Ye Ze smiled, picking up one of the bunny dumplings and teasing the little snake sub-beast with his thin skin.
The texture was as soft and smooth as snow on the hand. Taking a bite, the skin was chewy with a slight floral fragrance.
Inside, there were sweet and sour strawberry pieces, along with thick strawberry jam. Mixed with the sweetness of the skin, it formed a rich yet harmonious taste experience.
“Very delicious. Nuo Nuo’s cooking skills have improved again.” Fully evolved into a machine for praising the little snake sub-beast, Ye Ze’s words of praise flowed out effortlessly, each one sincere and genuine.
Taking his portion of dessert from the little snake sub-beast, the groundhog’s ecstatic response of “squeak, squeak, squeak” lowered. Looking at the little snake sub-beast who was attracted by Ye Ze, then at himself, it hugged the little dumpling and growled fiercely.
“Nuo Nuo, don’t just watch. Let’s eat together,” Ye Ze picked up the other bunny dumpling and brought it to the little snake sub-beast’s mouth.
Subconsciously following his voice, the little snake sub-beast opened his mouth and took a bite of the bunny’s ear as Ye Ze moved it.
Ye Ze smiled even more happily. He lifted his wrist slightly to prevent the delicious strawberry filling from falling to the ground. Adjusting the direction of the little bunny, he made it easier for the little snake sub-beast to take the next bite.
Reacting quickly, the steamed bun snake emerged in an instant. He quickly reached out to take the little bunny, apologizing hesitantly, “I-I can do it myself!”
“But I’m more than happy to serve you, Nuo Nuo.”
Seeing the little snake sub-beast’s smoky head, Ye Ze decided to temporarily let the shy little snake sub-beast off the hook. However, even though he let go, he didn’t spare him on words. He still teased the little snake sub-beast, making him blush even more, wishing he could bury himself with his tail.
Ye Ze almost instinctively reached out to touch his little head.
The little snake sub-beast had been taking care of himself very well lately.
Of course, it’s not to say that he wasn’t good before, but now he’s exceptionally good. Nervously so.
To distract the little snake sub-beast’s attention, Ye Ze had been looking for suitable dining robots in the mall these days. However, the customized delivery was scheduled for tomorrow, so today he used other things to attract the little snake sub-beast.
As the vine rolled up the empty dessert plate without complaint, its fine white roots clattered across the deck and into the kitchen.
“Fishing?” The little snake sub-beast felt puzzled by yet another new term.
Ye Ze took out the specially prepared fishing rod he had prepared early. As he demonstrated, he explained to the little snake sub-beast, “You use this. Attach some food to the hook and cast it into the water. Wait patiently, and the fish will bite the hook to eat the food. That’s how we catch fish.”
Ye Ze cast the fishing hook.
The little snake sub-beast’s gaze followed the arc of the fishing hook, landing on the water’s surface. Question marks sprouted on his forehead.
Could you really catch fish like this?
The little snake sub-beast stared at the floating bobber, blinking a few times. Then, looking at Ye Ze’s expectant expression, he turned around, mimicking Ye Ze’s actions, baiting the hook and casting it. Holding onto the fishing rod, he obediently stood in front of the railing, waiting for the fish to bite the hook like Gray.
It was the groundhog’s first time seeing such a laid-back way of hunting. It also stepped forward, standing upright, its two little paws gripping the railing as it stretched its little head to look into the water.
Let it see if there really were such dumb fish in the world!
The two geese looked at each other, expressing their mutual confusion.
But that didn’t stop them from joining the crowd, gathering at the edge of the boat to watch the fun.
Two more little heads emerged from over the railing.
Might as well, the ship imported from the inter-dimensional mall by Ye Ze, from the high-tech interstellar era. Even in the rushing water, it could still steadily carry two people and three little creatures, drifting downstream smoothly; anchoring in the middle of the river was just as easy and stable.
It provided a good platform for the whole family’s afternoon activities, preventing any river-rescue incidents due to rocking.
Four pairs of curious yet eager eyes stared fixedly at the bobber on the water’s surface like prisoners, not blinking.
Fishing leisurely turned into a large-scale entertainment event for coaxing children.
Ye Ze laughed and shook his head. A strand of water grass grew out of his fishing hook, detached from the hook, and spread outward. It picked and chose around, digging out a delicious big fish about the length of an arm from the hole.
He hung it on the hook for the little snake sub-beast.
“!” The fishing rod moved!
The fishing rod in his hand felt a pulling force. The little snake sub-beast widened his eyes, hardly believing that not only were there dumb fish, but they were also particularly fast and large!
In his overwhelming shock, the little snake sub-beast forgot that he still needed to reel in the line to bring back the big fish. He stood frozen in place, afraid that any movement would scare away the dumb fish in the river.
The groundhog was also stunned for a moment. Then it quickly reacted and instantly became excited, dancing around the little snake sub-beast. It loudly reminded him, “Squeak! Squeak squeak!”
Fish! There’s fish! Hurry up, pull it in! Today, we’ll have fish bone soup and grilled fish for dinner!
“Honk! Honk!” Master is amazing! Master is mighty! Tonight, we’ll have an extra meal!
The geese flapped their wings. Stretching their necks, they cheered the little snake sub-beast on.
Ye Ze was stimulated by the real-life groundhog’s screaming three times, his eardrums hurting. Sound-absorbing vines silently grew out and climbed onto the little snake sub-beast’s shoulder, gently covering his ears.
Being disturbed like this isn’t good.
In the midst of the excitement, the little snake sub-beast finally remembered the key. He hurriedly grasped the fishing rod that was about to slip out of his hand, reeling in the line while pulling up the big fish.
Taking advantage of the opportunity, the water grass loosened its grip on the big fish, giving its head a knock.
“Splash!”
This unlucky caught big fish, in a daze, was “caught” onto the deck by the little snake sub-beast.
Due to the precise control of the water grass, as well as the fish’s strength in slapping its tail on the deck.
There was no hint of any trickery at all.
“There really is a fish!” The little snake sub-beast cheered and joined the celebration with the three little animals.
Apart from being a few beats slower in reflexes, everything else was quite perfect.
Ye Ze turned his head, suppressing a few laughs.
The red thorn vine, having finished washing the dishes, slid over and picked up the fish, putting it into the newly moved water tank.
Today’s catch x1.
Awesome!
Under Ye Ze’s control, the red thorn vine gave the little snake sub-beast a thumbs-up.
Encouraged by the first big fish, the little snake sub-beast and the three little creatures were obviously motivated. They spent the whole afternoon happily on the deck, standing in a row by the ship’s railing.
From time to time, there were loud cheers, startling passing birds, causing them to shiver, and fly away in a steep “V” shape, quickly fleeing the scene.
God of Beasts above. The most abundant beastman team it had ever seen before had never been so happy.
This must be a quite terrifying hunting team!
All right, all right.
Well, in a sense, it was indeed quite dangerous and scary. No problem.
“One last one, no more playing around.” Ye Ze glanced at the sky and reminded with a smile, “It’s time for dinner. Today, we’ll try a new restaurant. Nuo Nuo, do you have anything you want to eat?”
“Anything is fine. Whatever Ye Ze wants is fine!” The little snake sub-beast turned around, sending out a sunflower-like cute and radiant smile.
Then without a moment’s pause, he immediately turned his head back, eagerly staring at the bobber in the water. His tail curled up, swaying behind him along with his little head.
Clearly, he was not done yet.
“Squeak squeak!”
“Honk!”
That’s right, anything is delicious. Whatever works!
The groundhog and the geese nodded their heads without looking back.
Ye Ze: “…”
The self-proclaimed magnanimous pseudo-beastman felt a twinge of jealousy.
And he said, this time he’ll catch a super-duper tiny fish for the little snake sub-beast!
“Oh! Here it comes again!”
“?” What’s coming? He hasn’t loaded anything yet.
Ye Ze was momentarily puzzled. Seeing the little snake sub-beast busy reeling in the line, the corner of his mouth twitched.
With this limp fishing technique, can fish really be caught?!
Ye Ze couldn’t help but lower his head and look at his calm fishing rod after losing its supernatural lure. He fell silent for a moment.
“Wow! It’s a bit strong, seems like a big fish!”
The little snake sub-beast learns quickly, already gaining some relevant experience. Sensing a weight bigger than any previous time, his eyes lit up. He tightened his grip on the fishing rod, took a deep breath, and exerted force… “?”
Did he just exert force?
How did the fish come onto the boat by itself even though there’s a fish on the hook?!
The little snake sub-beast followed the sudden appearance of the shadow bursting out of the water, his gaze continuously moving up and down. With the fishing rod in his arms, his expression was inexplicably bewildered.
The “big fish” that came out of the water landed steadily on the deck, making a wet splashing sound.
The chubby body was almost half as tall as the little snake sub-beast. The bulging white belly was dazzling, while the back and two fin-like wings were shiny black.
At this moment, excitedly spreading its small wings, the creature with clawed feet stepped forward with a clattering sound, heading towards the little snake sub-beast.
“?” Would eating this kind of fish cause food poisoning?
The little snake sub-beast, who lived in the temperate forest, was completely bewildered upon seeing a penguin for the first time.
“Ah~! Ah~!”
The penguin opened its mouth, approaching the little snake sub-beast while making cheerful sounds.
However, its cute and silly appearance did not evoke any sense of affection from anyone present.
At the first moment of discovery, Ye Ze reached out and hugged the little snake sub-beast into his arms, protecting him. The red thorn vine and water grass simultaneously revealed their fierce fangs, one on land and one in water, on alert for the other’s next move.
If it weren’t for not sensing any malice from the other party, as well as recognizing the mysterious question mark on the groundhog’s identification frame, they would have almost attacked immediately.
And the groundhog, as a suspected fellow member of the big penguin’s species, not only did not show a welcome like an old friend, but instead bristled up as if its tail had been stepped on.
It rushed out to stand between the little snake sub-beast and the big penguin. With one hand on its hip and the other pointing at the big penguin, it scolded furiously, “Squeak! Squeak squeak!”
What are you doing? It was here first, and it hasn’t even had a chance to hug the little cutie yet! You’re not allowed to hug! [Super fierce]
Author’s Note: Later, the little snake sub-beast, who started a fishing ground, saw that even after fishing for half a day, there was not a single fish caught, and the guests who got excited as if favored by the Beast God. He proudly straightened his chest and continued to count his money!
Ye Ze (whispering os): Not in vain did I worry about the little snake sub-beast losing money. I specifically purchased more savvy cultivated fish species for him!
#Indeed, Ye is biased!#
