Ch 29
Chapter 29: The Robot
At the strong insistence of the big penguin, tonight the little snake sub-beast wore penguin plush pajamas, dug out from the depths of the closet.
As the little snake sub-beast bent slightly, the loose pajamas formed a chubby white belly in front. The tail end barely touched the ground, revealing two big feet in “eight” shapes at the hem. Behind, a black tailcoat clung to the body. Without a hat, the penguin head, adorned with a tender yellow beak, drooped dejectedly behind. Due to the movement of the little snake sub-beast’s head, a hint emerged between their neck and soft white hair, attempting to convey its unfair treatment to the buyer.
In short, it was incredibly cute.
Ye Ze was extremely satisfied with his choice of clothes.
Completely ignoring the “pitiful state” of the penguin pajamas, he walked up to the little snake sub-beast. However, he maintained just the right distance to avoid seeing what was behind the little snake sub-beast, showing an expectant expression. “What gift did Nuo Nuo prepare for me? Can I see it now?”
“Y-yes. Wait a moment, Ye Zi.” The little snake sub-beast nodded. Swiftly closing the door, they turned around and carefully picked up a reddish-brown wooden box. Holding it against the door with his arm, he pushed it into the room.
The handmade box made of sandalwood was formally presented to Ye Ze. It was almost big enough to cover half of the little snake sub-beast’s face, revealing only a pair of anxious golden eyes.
On the left, right, and top of the box, three sides were carved with exquisite scenic patterns. The beautiful scenes were all taken from the places they had visited before.
Upon careful consideration, it seemed that Ye Ze had marveled at these three places with the little snake sub-beast.
The centerpiece of the carving in front was even more of a test of craftsmanship, a three-dimensional hollow carving.
At the first glance, Ye Ze couldn’t help but smile.
It was the cave that had been transformed after he decided to live with the little snake sub-beast.
Two small figures, two little yellow geese, and even a groundhog.
The bed, table, and even the snacks in the half-open cupboard.
All were vividly depicted by the little snake sub-beast’s skillful hands.
“These are all for you, Ye Zi. I don’t know if you’ll like them…” The tip of the little snake sub-beast’s tail curled up in embarrassment, lowering their head and not daring to look at Ye Ze’s expression.
“I really like them.” Ye Ze gazed at the carving of the cave, softening his gaze. “There’s no better gift than this.”
The little snake sub-beast’s eyes curved with approval. Their gestures became more confident.
Ye Ze always seemed to produce many wonderful things that exceeded his expectations.
He had always been worried that what he did would be too mediocre and cheap for Ye Ze.
But Ye Ze’s approval meant everything!
The wooden box was obviously not just a decorative piece filled with sentimentality.
The little snake sub-beast reached out and gently landed on the vine hanging down at the entrance of the cave, trying hard to flip open the lid of the wooden box.
However, the size of the wooden box was too large for the little snake sub-beast. Despite the little snake sub-beast’s frantic tail slapping, they still couldn’t figure it out.
The usually dexterous little snake sub-beast rarely showed such clumsiness, amusing Ye Ze even more. After watching the little snake sub-beast struggle for a long time, Ye Ze finally took pity and reached out to take the box. “I’ll hold it. Nuo Nuo, come and open it.”
The little snake sub-beast felt relieved. He breathed a sigh of relief and showed a grateful expression to the considerate beastman. “Thank you, Ye Zi.” Ye Zi was truly wonderful!
Truly silly and adorable.
Ye Ze almost felt like humming a tune with amusement.
After struggling with the cumbersome wooden box, it was finally opened.
The first thing that caught the eye was smooth and thick fur.
Like the sandalwood that made up the wooden box, it was a pricey “magical” product.
Taken from high-level fire elemental beasts, the fur itself possessed strong insulation and protective properties. Coupled with the blessings of the priests in the great city, it became a material of exceptionally high quality.
After the little snake sub-beast set their sights on it, they exchanged goods from their private stash with the team leader.
Now it had transformed into a majestic fur cloak, presented before Ye Ze.
As Ye Ze examined each item, he realized belatedly: all the products the little snake sub-beast had chosen that day were meant for him.
“Why didn’t you buy something for yourself?”
“Me?” The little snake sub-beast tilted his head, eyes full of confusion. Then, he straightened his chest and answered matter-of-factly, “I already have enough. There’s nothing I need to buy.”
“… ” Ye Ze rubbed the little snake sub-beast’s head, feeling overwhelmingly soft-hearted. “Nuo Nuo, you should also think about yourself more in the future.”
“Mm-hmm.” The little snake sub-beast hurriedly nodded, draping the fur cloak over Ye Ze. Likely as before, he would be obedient and responsible, but some advice might just go in one ear and out the other.
Ye Ze felt both exasperated and amused, but he obediently let the little snake sub-beast fuss over him.
The little snake sub-beast happily circled around Ye Ze, spinning to observe the effect of the cloak on him. His tail tip swayed back and forth, extremely content.
With this, even when he were out and about, no one would dare to bully Ye Ze!
The clothing Ye Ze purchased from the mall was indeed excellent. However, these styles were not popular in the wilderness world and could easily be mistaken as weak.
They were about to travel around the world now.
Ye Ze stood still, letting the little snake sub-beast inspect him. He even changed poses a few times, with a somewhat eager stance, akin to a peacock displaying its feathers after a barren tree blossomed, hoping to attract attention.
However, Ye Ze would never admit to such a thing.
“Since Nuo Nuo gave me so many gifts, I have a gift for you too.” Ye Ze lifted his hand to embrace the little snake sub-beast, claiming he could feel the warmth and thickness of the cloak together. He lowered his head and intentionally whispered in the little snake sub-beast’s neck.
Watching the little snake sub-beast’s ears turn red, he couldn’t help but let out a soft chuckle.
Just as the little snake sub-beast was enveloped in his presence, about to overheat from the sensation, Ye Ze finally had a pang of conscience. He let go of the little snake sub-beast and sent them back to the room. “Rest well, and you’ll see surprises tomorrow.”
Taking advantage of the situation, Ye Ze kissed the little snake sub-beast on the forehead. “Goodnight kiss.”
“!?”
The little snake sub-beast completely froze.
…Hmm. Clearly, this made it even harder to fall asleep!
Under the strange gazes of the four animals, the little snake sub-beast buried himself even tighter under the blanket.
The surprise that the little snake sub-beast eagerly anticipated all night turned out to be a humanoid robot.
Ye Ze had put a lot of effort into this.
He would never customize a young male robot to be with the little snake sub-beast day and night.
However, making it resemble a Granny worried it would remind the little snake sub-beast of his feelings for Grandma Kanglan; Grandpa had some off-putting traits; and young females, the female form in this world, were out of the question.
After much deliberation, Ye Ze ultimately ordered a humanoid robot that was obviously artificial.
Fat and chubby like Big Black, not scary, quite adorable. Its specially made soft body made it incredibly comfortable to hug, making it hard to let go.
In every aspect, it was an excellent companion.
The dignified penguin felt quite offended by its own appearance.
But since the little snake sub-beast liked it, it had no choice but to huddle in the corner with the groundhog.
Another contender for attention!
In addition to its charming appearance, Da Bai’s intelligent chip was also quite expensive.
It came with a comprehensive database of ingredients, with over three million essence teachings of culinary arts from various dimensions.
It contained a total of over fifty thousand different dishes from more than three million dimensions, including main courses, home-cooked meals, snacks, desserts, and more.
It was definitely a must-have for the home, an all-knowing companion for cooking.
Since meeting Da Bai, the little snake sub-beast could spend an entire day in the kitchen with it, without coming out.
Ye Ze, feeling completely “ignored,” realized he had miscalculated.
But the small animals were extremely satisfied with being able to eat delicious and varied snacks every day. Whether the little snake sub-beast was busy or not made no difference to them.
Especially being able to isolate a certain foreign dangerous individual, it was just awesome!
The groundhog and the penguin reconciled for a second, smugly high-fiving each other.
Ye Ze, who felt targeted: “…” I see you really want to be kicked out.
“Ye Zi, be careful when you go out today!”
“Got it, I’ll come back for dinner on time.” Ye Ze looked at the little snake sub-beast waving at him on the deck, returning the daily farewell greeting with a smile, “I’ll contact you if I come back late. Stay home and behave, don’t worry.”
Since finding the little snake sub-beast, the Water Spirit big penguin had been surrounded by the overflow of happiness from the little snake sub-beast every day. Their persistently irritable mood was greatly pacified, and the raging floods outside had ceased a few days ago. Now, the river surface was peaceful, returning to its normal state.
In places where the water source was stable, the surrounding magical beasts gradually became more numerous and active. High-level magical beasts that were rarely seen before often appeared.
Ye Ze’s outings had noticeably increased, and he always returned with a full load.
Most of it was placed in the dimensional trader for sale, and the large quantities of goods greatly boosted the reputation of Ye Ze’s new store.
Recently, Ye Ze had already begun planning to reopen his formal store.
Naturally, the materials that were needed were kept for himself.
The freshest and most delicious parts of all the prey were not to be missed, all used as ingredients and handed over to the little snake sub-beast to experiment with.
The little snake sub-beast’s cooking skills never disappointed. Even with new dishes they tried, each had its own unique flavor.
As a result, after a period of intermittent stops, Ye Ze’s points had not seen a major breakthrough, but the weight of several small animals at home had increased.
“Nuo Nuo, look how chubby they’ve become. Why haven’t you gained any weight?” Ye Ze earnestly scrutinized the little snake sub-beast’s figure, feeling a bit dismayed.
Clearly, when he first arrived, he had fattened up the little snake sub-beast quite a bit. Now that conditions were even better, why wasn’t the little snake sub-beast gaining weight?
The little snake sub-beast puffed up their cheeks in protest, “I’m already quite fat! I can’t gain anymore!”
“Squeak!”
“Ah!”
“Quack!”
Exactly! Where were they fat? At most, they could only be described as plump! Plump is the most beautiful, you know!
As soon as Ye Ze spoke, he faced unanimous opposition from the residents of the house. He was momentarily speechless.
Fortunately, the approaching riverbank once again saved him from being condemned by the gazes of the small animals.
“Roar!”
“Hmm?” The members of the combat team all focused their gaze. Looking at where the loud noise came from, each had their own thoughts.
