Chapter 68: Infiltration into the Noble Academy

The next day, Monday, January 13th, 359th year of the kingdom’s history. I was promptly escorted by Luca-sama in a carriage and sneaked through the gates of the Royal Noble Academy.

“Have a good day, Luca-sama.”

He nodded casually and headed towards the middle school building. I took the entrance exam at the administrative building. The exam consisted of a paper test and magical practical. I had a letter of recommendation from Marole, and I had already passed the “Tower” exam on my second loop. It was easy.

After that, there was a simple orientation. My status was basically the same as an ordinary student. I was assigned to Class 2C of the second year of the high school section, where the sons of wealthy merchants and scholarship students attended. As a servant, my duties were after classes. I lived in the anteroom of my master’s dormitory and took care of cleaning and grooming. Depending on the household’s economic situation and policies, the number of accompanying servants and their duties may vary, but in Luca-sama’s case, it seemed to be just me. “Luca-sama, you mentioned that you aspire to become a government official in the future. However, when a commoner enters society, it’s not necessarily guaranteed that they will earn enough income to afford servants. The academy also encourages self-reliance.”

“I understand!”

“You may not trust me since we just met yesterday. However, I will definitely protect you, Luca-sama. If it doesn’t work out, you can always return to the mansion and start over. How about it?”

After contemplating for a while, he muttered, “…I’ll discuss it with the butler.”

That night, the butler, Royk, visited my room and said, “Starting tomorrow, you’ll be in the academy’s dormitory. Take care of Luca-sama.” Later, Lola-san came to apologize, saying, “I’m sorry we’re so busy and short-staffed. Please take care of the young master.” From what I observed yesterday and today, the only ones in this mansion who are friendly to him and me are Lola-san and some of the servants. Despite her elegant appearance, Mama didn’t seem to visit Luca-sama afterward or show any signs of protecting or supporting him.

However, apart from the rare light and darkness, one-fourth of the population should be of Earth attribute. There may be heartless students, but if I search, I might find allies at the academy. At least, there seems to be a better chance than in the mansion. And while it’s inevitable to face malicious intent from others, I also have physical means to protect him.
