Chapter 56: 12
I opened my eyes after completing another fortune-telling session. In recent days, I have been focusing solely on collecting information using this method. It was not difficult to interpret the fragmented images obtained, but the amount of data provided remained limited. This is where the Cryptologist came in. With his analysis, I was able to transform disparate predictions into coherent and meaningful information.
I've been doing this for a week now, and I've given up taking notes a long time ago. The surveillance didn't stop, which made any notes too dangerous. Although fortune-telling couldn't give an exact answer as to who was watching me, it did give me directions. After analyzing the prompts, I realized that these were Root agents.
The surveillance itself didn't bother me much. I didn't do anything suspicious, and even now, after completing another session, I immediately moved on to the next one without getting up from my seat.
In addition to specific predictions, I collected historical data: the causes of the death of the First Hokage, the course of the First, Second and Third World Wars, key events in the history of the village and the origin of its structure. This information greatly helped the Cryptologist digest.
Of the really important things, I focused on the movements within the Uchiha clan. In the end, I decided to give up the complicated manipulation of their address. Instead, I chose the most straightforward but risky way: to warn Itachi and Shisui about Danzo's plans.
Divination made it clear to me that Itachi and Shisui had begun to consider using Kotoamatsuki to prevent conflict. I tried to predict the most appropriate moment to deliver the message. The idea of leaving a note with block letters seemed too dangerous: I was still being followed, and the Uchiha clan was able to recognize even the slightest traces. Add in the opportunity to track me by scent, and that option was immediately eliminated. In the end, I had to choose the roughest way.
After waiting until the middle of the night, I carefully checked for surveillance. After making sure that no one was around, I quickly left the apartment. Moving as quietly as possible and keeping in the shadows, I tried not to attract attention.
When I reached the border of the Uchiha clan's territory, I activated the "Flame Jump" to bypass the guards at their borders. It saved me time and allowed me to avoid unnecessary risks. Once inside, I started walking towards Sasuke's house. At that moment, the clan was supposed to have a meeting, and Itachi was supposed to stay at home. This created the perfect opportunity.
As I got closer, I froze in front of the house. It was too risky to break in directly, but I needed to pinpoint Itachi's location. I began to look closely at the paper walls of the house, trying to catch shadows that could indicate its location.

Itachi listened to the sounds of the night while he was in his room. The meeting of the elders of the clan dragged on, and the father was left to deal with the affairs of the Uchiha. Sasuke had been asleep for a long time, and only his brother's faint breathing disturbed the silence.
The feeling of anxiety, familiar and unspeakably unpleasant, made Itachi tense up. He carefully got up, putting down the scroll, and went to the window, holding the kunai at the ready. Something or someone was outside.
Itachi made an instant decision. The shadow clone was supposed to replace him, and he himself would slip out unnoticed, but his hand stopped halfway to folding the seals. Suddenly, bright colored symbols began to appear in front of him, right in the air, as if outlined by fire. They trembled like flames in the wind, but they were surprisingly clear.
The message read:
Shisui is in danger. His future meeting with Danzo would be a disaster. Danzo won't approve of your plan with Kotoamatsuki. He will try to kill Shisui and take over the eyes. He'll only get one eye. Shisui will give the second one to you.
The text flickered, and a final warning appeared below it.:
There is no reason for you to believe this information. Make the decision yourself. But I ask that you do not harass the person who delivered this message. He's taking more risks than you can imagine.
Itachi froze. His sharingan was activated from the very beginning, but the technique did not carry any signs of overt genjutsu. It was... other.
He waited a few seconds, staring intently at the vivid words, and then they disappeared as if they had never existed. There was only emptiness and questions.
Who could have known about their plans, this idea was born only recently? How do they know about Danzo? And why did the warning appear here and now?
Itachi looked back at the door of the room where Sasuke was sleeping quietly. Concern for his younger brother made him put aside all other thoughts. As much as he wanted to find out who exactly had left this message, Shisui's safety was more important right now.

Hoping that he really wouldn't be following me, I headed home. The road seemed longer than usual—every rustle and shadow made me wary. I tried to stay calm, but thoughts of a possible stalker haunted me. To confuse a possible enemy, I used a flaming jump, hoping that a sudden jump in speed and direction would help me escape.
When I got home and made sure that there was no danger outside, I sat down on the floor and began preparing for a dream reading. This method has always helped me when I needed to shed light on hidden threats. Once I was comfortable, I concentrated, slowing my breathing, and allowed my mind to sink into the fine line between sleep and reality.
In the visions, I watched my own path to the house, like a bystander. Every step, every movement was captured with frightening clarity. However, I could not detect any signs of persecution. It was a relief, but at the same time it left an unsettling aftertaste: what if he still managed to escape my gaze?
I struggled out of the trance state and returned to reality. My body felt tired, but my mind finally calmed down a bit. With a sigh of relief, I allowed myself to lie down on the bed, feeling like I could fall asleep for the first time in a long time. Deep down, I hoped that the measures I had taken would at least slightly change the upcoming development of events.

While we were having a physical run, I was thinking about lightning techniques. I found out that the library provides access to D-rank techniques, despite the fact that they are usually used by genins. I wanted to delve into the lightning techniques, but unfortunately I didn't find anything suitable there.
As soon as we finished running, Kaito called me. As I approached him, I noticed that there were no other students around. He immediately got down to business.:
"You're doing great, Seiji. You can run faster, right?
Not understanding what he was getting at, I nodded. There was no point in denying what he had already noticed.
— You have good results. If you try, you could graduate from the Academy sooner. But to do that, we'll have to solve your problem first.
Feeling subtly manipulated, I nevertheless asked, genuinely interested.:
"What problem?"
— You have quite a large reserve of chakra, but I noticed its uneven distribution. The proportion of spiritual energy exceeds physical energy by four times. This can limit your chakra control ceiling, as well as weaken your immune system and lead to other problems.
Watching my reaction, he continued:
— I do not know what caused this anomaly, but I know how to fix it. There is a special elite institution, one of its branches is the Academy. There, the training is more complex, and they are able to restore the balance between the spiritual and physical energy of the chakra.
At that moment, I realized what he was trying to do. Imperceptibly, but persistently, he tried to recruit me to the "Root". He gave me advice to win my sympathy, chose his words carefully for his strategy, and finally offered a solution to my problem. Every word he said was like a coded message. I realized that I should always look for the hidden meaning in other people's words.
This thought ended, and I felt one of the key elements of the art of negotiation becoming clear to me. Despite the inner turmoil, I didn't let it show, using my self-control skills. I looked worried and replied:
"I... I need to think about it."
As if he had expected this, Kaito didn't push.:
— Of course, I understand that you need time. Most likely, you don't want to change your place of study. But I hope you won't delay making a decision about your future.
I turned away and walked unsteadily towards the other students. Although I understood his intentions, he was right about one thing. I really need to find a way to solve this problem. But how?
