Chapter 12: Origin
"You are the golden moon of your people. Wounded with a vengeful spirit," she started, tracing her palm.
"Hmm, your fate is uncertain. You are going to be both the peace and the downfall of the blood moon and you shall bring great chaos to the stars of the blood moon," she concluded.
"?!"
...
.
They were back in the carriage again heading for Zeke's house, this time an awful silence hung in the air.
"Do you understand what that fortune teller foretold?" Zeke asked her. Her eyes met his, of course she does.
"Yes," she replied in a low tone and the silence continued as they held each other's gaze. "(Sighs)...I know what you're thinking. Earlier you said you believed in what fortune tellers foretell, what they foretell might be true or it might as well be bullshit.
"But one thing I know is, what the vampires did to you was cruel but revenge is never the answer, you might feel better as soon as you are done taking your revenge but you have only opened the gate to more darkness in your life and then comes the unsatisfaction, the unsated thirst for blood in your hands and I don't want that for you," he explained.
"(Scoffs)...I really can't believe I'm the one giving you all these advice. Let me tell you a story, a story about a young prince. The uncle of this prince killed the parents of the prince unknowingly to everyone else but the prince, but nobody believed the prince when he tried to revealed what his uncle had done.
"After the uncle ascended the throne as he was next in line, his wife and him thought of a way to get rid of this young prince so that their own son might inherit the throne and succeed his father, the young prince's uncle.
"They thought of various ways and finally came up with a plot. One day when the royal family of four, the uncle, his wife, their son and the prince, were riding in their royal carriage coming from a soiree, their carriage was attacked by bandits.
"They killed the guards on their horses, the coachmen and kidnapped the young prince but the other trio was spared. (Laughs)... Isn't that suspicious? They paid bandits to attack the carriage and to kidnapped the young prince, so that it may look believable.
"They told the bandits to kill the young prince and didn't do much findings to look for the young heir as the people suggested and soon the matter died off, but the bandits were greedy and disloyal, instead of killing the prince they sold him off to witchery.
"But I should say the prince was very fortunate to meet such bandits as they spared his life for their pockets and left his death fate to the witchers as they didn't think he would survive the brutal trainings.
"The witchers didn't recognize the boy as the prince of any country and they didn't care to recognize him. The prince went through hell but his quest for revenge made him to thrive and when he had finished his trainings successfully and had spent years gaining fame and wealth as a witcher.
"He embarked on his quest to pay his uncle back the pains and sufferings they had caused him ten times the fold. He successfully penetrated the palace with his group of witchers that supported him after explaining his plight.
"That was the night he truly became a killer. He killed a lot that night, he killed his uncle's family before his uncle's eyes and he made sure his uncle's death was long and...Painful. That was the perfect sweet revenge he could ever ask for.
"When it was dawn and the tragic news got to the people, lord and dukes of the country, they came to the royal castle to really see if it was true. The young prince made himself and his witchers known, he explained to the people, everything his uncle and his wife had done.
"He told them who he was and how he ended up becoming a witcher, how the bloodline of his uncle deserved to be wiped out. The people looked at him in disgust, they...They called him a mutant, women and children shrieked in fear.
"They disowned him and the prince made himself an outcast, only then did he realized what he had done even though a part of him still loved the revenge. He and his witchers were attacked and only him and a few others were able to escape.
"He never stepped into his own homeland again because of his revenge and he was once again denied his birthright, he moved far away from his homeland to a country where nobody knows him, but where he would be respected, adored and accepted for who he was, his little peaceville" He concluded the story.
Luisa had a sad look on her beautiful face.
"Where is this witcher now?" she asked him feeling so sorry for the prince.
"You're... You're looking at him," he replied and Luisa felt her heart sink. What?
"After that I changed my last name, bore a new identity...Hezekiah Kadmiel. It wasn't enough to wipe out the bad memories from my life. So please, don't end up being miserable for the rest of your existence like me," he continued and Luisa bit her lower lips.
So hat's why he preferred being called Zeke, because Hezekiah reminds him so much of his past. Silence reigned between them.
"Are you...Human?" she asked after a while of silence. His gaze lingered on her before he finally answered.
"Yes," came his short response and she nodded. So he was a human prince, he was really too handsome for a human but good thing he wasn't a vampire.
She felt so bad for him, she can't even imagine everything he went through, but she couldn't tell if that story of his really changed her hate and intent towards the vampires who has caused her so much pain.
"Enough about me, let's talk about you, I'm sure your elf clan was a wood elf clan, am I wrong?" he asked and she shook her head.
Heron who had died was also a wood elf but of another clan.
He knew it, her clan were wood elves who lived close to the forest and she had the features of a wood elf, fair skin and that unnatural beauty, but somehow he could still see some traits of an high elf in her.
"So can you control the earth?" he asked her with a smug smile. Wood elves were known to be able to control anything concerning the earth or land like the plants and animals and be able to use them to their advantage.
"I-I don't know, I've never tried it...Elves lived longer than most creatures, so they took their time in everything they do. I was just ten when my parents and clan were murdered, I haven't learned how to use my powers.
"Why would my parents start to teach me those things at that young age when I had many years to live...I guess they never expected the massacre," Luisa explained.
She hasn't really sit down to think about this. Now that she thought about it, several thoughts began to rush in, though her clan was small, the way the vampires were able to attack her clan successfully was suspicious.
She remembered what Zeke said the first day they met, maybe there really was someone pulling the strings and she was sure to find out everything and everyone involved.
The night she met Zeke, she knew she had to grab the chance to be able to possess something that was enough to avenge her parents and clan as she hadn't learnt anything from her previous life, she knew she had no one else to turn to.
She didn't join for the long life span, only humans join for that, as an elf she already had that on her side. She joined because she wanted to nurture what she already had. Even though she was a girl, she had a bigger advantage as an elf than most of the human boys and that's why she was still alive.
She was fast and strong, she had intelligence and agility, her senses were sharp and all these natural skills and capabilities was what made her the best at anything she does if she put her mind to it. She was a good fighter, a good swordsman and archer. But...
"My father was a high elf who fell for my mother who was a wood elf, his name was Erik Multon," she continued. That would make her Luisa Multon, the last name rang a bell but he couldn't quite pinpoint why.
"As you know it, the high elves think all the other elves were beneath them just in the case of the pure blooded vampires. They never approved of their union and gave my father a choice,.
"That he either forsake his family and birth rights to be with my mother or he forgets about my mother and avoided being disowned by his own family. But, my father was too in love with my mother. He chose to be with her and that union led to me, I have both bloods running in my veins," she continued.
'So that's why,' Zeke thought.
"As an elf, there are some special skills you're suppose to have and know and it has to be activated first. Such as in the case of the high elves, I'm suppose to know how to control the light to my advantage but I can't.
"As a wood elf, I'm suppose to know how to manipulate the earth but...I also don't know how to. I also do not know anything about elven magic nor can I use my natural lifeline energy to create weapons such as an arrow and so many other things I lack," she added.
"For someone who doesn't have any of these, you sure know a lot about it," Zeke commented.
"Of course, I've got to know my origin," she smiled at him.
"You would become a very strong and powerful witcher, Do me a favor... Don't abuse it," he pleaded.
Luisa just stared at him.
"After you complete your trainings, I'm going to take you to an elf friend of mine. He's one of the oldest elves I know, among the second or maybe third generations of high elves.
"He's very learned even beyond his own race and he would teach you all you need to know and how to harness what you have been given," Zeke continued. Luisa was flabbergasted.
"You would do that for me?" she asked.
"Sure thing, shortie," he promised and Luisa smiled.
"Thank you," she responded.
"You associate with elves?" she asked.
"High elves the most as they are the race of elves who mostly like to associate with other creatures unlike the others. Plus, you've got to need a lot of allies," he answered and winked at her before turning towards the window.
