Marvel: A Tale of Shadows

Logan groggily woke up, blinking away the blurriness from his vision. As he woke up he immediately became aware of the restraints that were tying him to the medical bed. He was in the mansion's medical wing but he was further away from the center of the room. So he must have been here for at least a few days.

"Good morning!" Beast walked up with a clipboard, his blue skin and fur very much in contrast to his lab coat. "You have only been comatose for about half a week. Are you of sound mind or do you feel the need to kill me?"

Logan growled, "bub, cut me loose."

"Sounds like you are just fine, but you will have to wait here until professor or Jean comes and clears you." Beast explained as he released the restraints.

"What happened? Last thing I remember is guarding that red haired scum." Logan asked as he hopped off the bed, the floor creaking momentarily under his weight.

"Really? Well-" Beast started but was interrupted when Professor Xavier rolled into the room with the door sliding open for him.

"That is okay, I can explain. I know you are busy with mind control and brainwashing of Hydra, Beast. Thank you for looking after him." Xavier cut in getting a nod from Beast before he moved over to his work station which had plenty of papers stacked up and it seemed he was in the middle of a digital conference.

"Professor? Did I hurt anyone?" Logan asked with a hint of fear hidden in his tone of voice.

"No one is dead, but Alex- Havok was injured in the fight to subdue you." Xavier explained briefly. "I believe I wiped the brainwashing from your mind but I wanted to get your permission before I dived too deeply into your mind because it would also mean helping you recover the memories you lost-"

"No." Logan immediately answered, "I don't want those memories back. Just… make it harder for someone to manipulate my mind."

Xavier frowned and sighed after a few minutes, "very well… give me a few minutes to prepare. But are you sure-"

"I don't want those memories back. I already told you about my nightmares. The only thing those memories will bring is pain." Logan iterated with confidence.

"Haa… okay, but you will have to convince Jean of that as well. She was excited at the prospect of bringing your memories back again." Xavier explained.

"Hmm… no I won't, I need to leave again to clear my head." Logan responded, causing Xavier to flinch and look at the man for a few moments before he sighed, "very well. Let's get this started."

Felicia was almost exhausted from the guides' exuberant attitude. She had only been on this school tour for ten minutes. It was required for incoming students that had never been to the school. Only reason she knew was because she tried to get out of it.

"This is one of our science buildings. We actually have an array of buildings but this is our biology and chemistry labs. Here you will find doctors such as Doctor Curtis Connors and his wife. Our sciences department proudly proclaims its abundance of funding from various sources including Stark Industries, Oscorp, and Roxxon." The guide explained, she was a ditzy blond who was very outgoing.

Which was very entertaining compared to the various nerds who she was guiding around, most of which were glasses-wearing teenagers that were too shy to even look at the woman.

"This next building is the law and-"

BOOM! CRASH!

The guide was interrupted as the wall and a window in the science building she was just talking about exploded outwards with a ball of green flying out. They were not close to the landing zone, but the debris and the thing landed directly onto a car. Everyone, including Felicia was stunned but she quickly shook that off as the debris moved and a growling form climbed off the car and looked up to where it came out of the wall.

It was a giant lizard with sharp teeth, green scales, a tail, and… pants? Looking up to the hole she saw as the form of a red and blue sleek form jumped out right onto a light pole. The symbol on his chest and the weblike style was a giveaway of the man's identity.

It was Spider-Man, but he was looking different. Very different. He was no longer wearing sweats and something that looked like he made it in his room, he now looked like he actually took some time to make his new outfit.

"Wow, you are surprisingly sturdy. I don't suppose we could talk this out?" Spider-Man's joking tone rang out as he adjusted his position.

"Raa!" The lizard screamed before he grabbed some debris and threw them at Spider-Man.

"That's a no!" He jumped and dodged the debris, making sure to web it up so it did not hit a bystander, "clear the area!" He called out as he launched himself at the lizard punching him, throwing the creature off balance.

Felicia looked around and could see the guide was already panicking while others around them were running away in panic. She rolled her eyes and then pointed to a parking garage. "We can go to the parking garage to get away while they fight."

The guide latched onto her words and nodded, "your right let's-" Her eyes widened as she looked past Felicia as an ominous shadow fell over them.

Felicia quickly turned around as the large lizard reached out its scaly hand to grab her. Instinctively she reached for the knife she had hidden up her sleeve. But before she drew it the lizard flew back, pulled into the air by Spider-Man.

Felicia turned around and immediately started rushing the guide and the group away, glancing back only for a moment to take a picture with her phone of both the lizard man and of Spider-Man's new suit.

"Then maybe we could do a girls night?" Felicia suggested as she walked up to Ethan's desk while he was working.

"I would be down." Susan answered with a smile, "Ethan as soon as you finish your progress report you can head out." She then walked away, "text me Felicia."

Ethan glanced at Felicia who shrugged, "You are early, what happened to your school tour?"

"Canceled, Spider-Man got into a fight near where the tour was occurring. So the rest of the entrance school stuff was canceled." Felicia pulled up a picture on her phone and showed it to him.

"A new suit? Is that a… lizard person?" Ethan asked after glancing at the picture and frowning. He started quickly typing up the form and writing up all the relevant things he did today.

"Yeah, the news is already calling him The Lizard. They have no clue how he appeared in the chemistry building. But it looks like Spider-Man made an actual outfit." Felicia pointed out. "As opposed to those sweatpants and sweatshirts."

"I can see that, looks like he focused on cost as opposed to armor and protective clothing. Those are all basic fibers that could be easily made in a homemade lab." Ethan observed as he zoomed the photo in.

"Yeah it does, anyways it looks like Jean got a break so she was going to come over tonight. But I am thinking about doing a girls night tomorrow." Felicia explained as she put away her phone.

"Who are you inviting?" He asked as he finished up the document before printing a copy and emailing another to Miss Storm.

"Jean, Ororo, Pepper, my aunt, my other aunt will be in town as well, then I was thinking that would be it for now." Felicia answered.

"For now?" Ethan asked as he powered off his computer. Making certain it was locked before he put away everything else making sure it was locked up. He already knew he could not trust some of the interns, one in particular seemed to have been loitering around the others' experiments.

"Yeah… I was thinking I could make it a regular monthly thing. It sounds like both Susan and the ladies from the school are already open to the idea." Felicia explained as she stood up.

Ethan stood up as well, taking his laptop in a bag and hanging it on his shoulder. "Okay, as long as the people you bring to the apartment are reputable. Keep in mind the purpose of the tower." He then walked to the exit, passing and ignoring The Thing and Johnny Storm as they started to argue, probably an argument that was triggered by Johnny.

"Understood, my aunt already arrived in the city yesterday. They should have been hashing everything out today and then she will meet Fisk tonight. They invited us but I figured we had enough on our plates as it was." Felicia explained as they stepped into the elevator before it traveled down.

Gwen frowned as she looked at her blood sample. She was at the Potts-Stark Science Center for Students at the moment. After her… metamorphosis she was naturally stronger, could stick to various surfaces, had some sort of sixth sense, and hopefully that was it.

She quickly came to the conclusion that the cause was this strangely patterned spider that she found in her room. She looked at the spider that she was keeping in a small terrarium. If she was right then Spider-Man already had something similar happen to them.

Honestly she considered she could help like him, but she decided against it. She had enough responsibilities as it was. She would not be adding teenage vigilante, especially without first working out and training to fight.

She knew basic self-defense classes that her father had her learn. But that was about it. No way would she go straight into fighting without first some training and lessons in acrobatics. But that was something for another time.

What was concerning to her at the moment was her blood, it looked different. Which meant she probably could no longer donate her blood. She would have to find an expert, maybe Miss Potts knew someone who could be discreet about it.

She looked over at the news article she had pulled up on her computer. It had a picture of Spider-Man in his suit. She felt a pang of jealousy for a moment but decided against doing anything, she knew better than to go in ignorant with something like crime fighting.
