Chapter 52: Chapter 52: Quicksilver’s Growth
Noticing the camera focused on them, the green-lit figures paused mid-bite, casually lifting their noodles toward the lens in a playful salute.
Malekith could only watch in disbelief as his spaceship was forced down from the sky by two people eating instant noodles, their backs pressing against the vessel. When the ship hit the ground, the pair didn't stop there—they crushed the bottom half of the ship, leaving the already sparse Dark Elf forces severely diminished.
"What… what just happened?"
Loki gaped at the downed Dark Elf spaceship, utterly baffled by what had just transpired.
As the ship landed, Malekith was forced out by the two green-lit figures, now standing opposite Han Yu and his group.
Facing such formidable foes, Malekith dared not act recklessly. Without the Reality Stone, he was as powerless as an average Asgardian. On Earth, he might have managed to win an Ironman Triathlon, but in the presence of these beings, he didn't dare provoke anyone.
"Great ones, please hear me out!" Malekith began, his tone ingratiating. "I am Malekith, leader of the Dark Elves. I came here to reclaim the Aether, a powerful artifact that has been stolen by that Earthling over there. If you help me retrieve it, I will be forever grateful!"
Malekith's desperate attempt to ally with the very ones who had downed his ship was unexpected but not surprising, given his dire circumstances.
"Oh? And what benefits would we gain from helping you?"
As the green light faded, the figures were revealed: one was a highly sophisticated mechanical being, its design intricate yet precise, and the other a white-haired young man, appearing no older than twenty.
Despite their appearances, Malekith, a seasoned tactician, did not let his guard down. Instead, he maintained his submissive demeanor. Hearing the question, he immediately responded, "The benefits are immense! First, with the Convergence, I will plunge the entire universe into darkness. Then, I will divide half the universe between the two of you. A fifty-fifty split—what do you say?"
The green-lit figures tilted their heads slightly, signaling him to continue. Encouraged, Malekith pointed toward Han Yu.
"That Earthling has stolen my Aether. If you defeat him, I can absorb its power. Someone like him is clearly no match for you both. He's just a lowly being who happened upon a treasure by chance. I'm sure you can easily deal with him!"
Malekith's face twisted into a sycophantic smile, which, on his pale, eyebrowless visage, was more unsettling than endearing.
No sooner had he finished speaking than he felt something amiss. Suddenly, he collapsed, an excruciating pain shooting through his legs. Looking down, he was horrified to discover that his lower legs were completely gone!
The abrupt agony nearly caused Malekith to faint. Despite their advanced technology, the Dark Elves were not invincible. The pain he experienced was no different from what a human would feel losing their legs.
"W-why…?"
Cold sweat dripped from Malekith's forehead as he stammered through the pain. He hadn't even seen when the attack had occurred. It was terrifyingly fast.
The white-haired youth twirled a green dagger in his hand before letting its energy dissipate. Moments later, the weapon reformed into a pair of chopsticks, which he promptly used to continue eating his noodles.
As Han Yu and his group approached, the white-haired youth waved cheerfully and called out, "Yo, boss! Long time no see!"
Two more figures emerged from the shadows of the spaceship, accompanied by a lighthearted, almost mischievous voice.
"Boss?"
Hearing this, Thor, Loki, and Jane instinctively turned to look at Han Yu. The moment the pair appeared, a smile crept across Han Yu's face—he hadn't expected those two to find their way here.
The Sudden Appearance of Two Figures: Quicksilver and Ultron!
"You two, how did you manage to find me here?" Han Yu asked with a grin as Ultron and Quicksilver approached.
Ultron raised his right hand, revealing a faintly glowing Green Lantern ring on his finger. Han Yu raised his own hand, and the Green Lantern ring he wore also lit up.
It turned out they had tracked him using this connection. Han Yu hadn't activated the ring's shielding feature to block other Green Lantern sub-rings, so Ultron and Quicksilver were able to locate the master ring. Using the ring's faster-than-light travel capability, they quickly arrived. With its limitless energy source, their speed had only increased as they traveled.
"Boss, do we need to spare anyone inside that ship?" Ultron asked, gesturing toward the wreckage while still slurping on his noodles. The aroma caught Thor and the others' attention, who couldn't help but glance over.
"No need. Kill them all," Han Yu replied with an exasperated smile. Watching Ultron eat noodles, he couldn't help but ask, "Did you give yourself a digestive system?"
"Sure did, boss. You always figure things out so quickly—it saves me from explaining," Ultron replied with a laugh.
He signaled to Quicksilver, who nodded in understanding. Green Lantern energy enveloped Quicksilver's right fist, vibrating at an extremely high frequency.
With a soft command, a streak of green energy shot out like an arrow, piercing the spaceship. Moments later, the massive ship exploded into countless fragments, scattering debris everywhere.
As Quicksilver stared at the wreckage, he shook his head in disappointment. "I still couldn't pulverize it completely. Looks like I need to improve my energy control."
From his words, it seemed he was trying to replicate what Han Yu had done in Sokovia—breaking a massive object into fine powder. That feat required not only immense power but also precise control, or it would result in large chunks instead.
Malekith was speechless as he watched. His once-mighty spaceship, the product of his millennia-long conquests, had been reduced to nothing but rubble.
"It's over… all over…" Malekith murmured. He finally understood—the beings he had tried so hard to curry favor with were subordinates of the Earthling he had looked down upon. Losing his legs must have been punishment for speaking ill of Han Yu.
"You'll die with me!" Malekith's voice turned maniacal as he suddenly produced two spatial grenades. These devices could create miniature black holes upon detonation—nothing could escape their pull.
Just as he pulled out the grenades, Malekith felt a chill in his wrists. Looking down, he saw both his hands, still clutching the grenades, lying on the ground. Blood poured from his severed wrists.
"Not bad, Pietro. You've improved," Han Yu said, his eyes glinting with approval at Quicksilver's speed. Before Han Yu had left, Quicksilver hadn't yet mastered such fine control over Green Lantern energy.
Now, not only could Quicksilver manipulate the energy with ease, but he had also combined it with his superhuman speed, effectively creating a speed-based Green Lantern ring.
With the ring's inexhaustible energy, Quicksilver no longer worried about physical exhaustion or the lack of protection at high speeds. He chuckled and replied, "Of course! If I stayed the same, I'd be unworthy of this title."
