"Peter!"

Gwen's voice echoed through the swimming pool as her head popped out of the water. She smiled brightly, her golden hair plastered to her face, and waved him over.

"You're so quiet when you walk! You startled me."

Peter shrugged. "Maybe you're just too focused, Gwen."

She chuckled. "Yeah, maybe. But I have to say, this is actually nice. My first time swimming here, and it feels amazing."

Water droplets sparkled on her pale skin as she shook her head, flinging droplets everywhere. She wore a white one-piece swimsuit that clung to her figure, perfectly showcasing her youthful, athletic build.

"You came prepared with a swimsuit?" Peter asked, a little surprised.

Gwen smiled sheepishly. "I didn't plan for this. I just bought it from the supermarket outside."

She climbed out of the pool, standing on the smooth tiled floor. Droplets of water slid down her body, shimmering under the light. Peter couldn't help but notice her slender frame, her toned legs, and the silver pendant hanging delicately around her neck—a gift from her mother.

"Ahem," Peter cleared his throat, forcing himself to look away. Even the alien embryo within him stirred slightly, reacting to the sight before him. He quickly suppressed the thought and kept his composure.

"So," he began, his tone serious, "why the sudden urge to go for a swim?"

Gwen tilted her head, brushing a lock of wet hair from her face. "I've been feeling hot all over lately. I thought swimming might cool me down. You know, physically get rid of the heat."

Peter raised an eyebrow. Her explanation was plausible, but something about it didn't sit right with him. Noticing the questioning look in his eyes, Gwen's lips curled into a mischievous grin. Rather than shy away, she seemed oddly confident, even proud.

Her skin glowed under the light, her calves sleek and smooth, subtly defined muscles adding to their beauty. The silver pendant around her neck glinted as she adjusted it absently.

Peter fought to keep his thoughts in check. "Can't say I expected you to invite me to the pool, Gwen."

"Well, I thought it'd be nice to have some company. Besides," she teased, stepping closer to him, "don't we deserve some time to relax?"

Peter hesitated, unsure how to respond. Something about Gwen's demeanor was off. She seemed more assertive, bolder than usual. It reminded him of her father, George Stacy, when he'd been affected by a strange pheromone-like scent. Could this be the same influence?

He studied her carefully, replaying the events of the day in his mind. Was it the scent he'd picked up earlier in the classroom? His thoughts were interrupted when Gwen suddenly reached for his arm.

"Wait a second," she said, her eyes narrowing. "Didn't you once tell me you knew how to swim?"

Peter blinked. "Maybe I forgot."

Gwen frowned. "You forgot how to swim?"

Peter nodded, keeping his expression neutral. "Skills can get rusty if you don't use them."

"Well, if that's the case," Gwen said brightly, "I can teach you! Come on, Peter, it'll be fun."

Peter waved her off, shaking his head. "I'm not really interested in swimming, Gwen."

Gwen's shoulders slumped in disappointment. "You're so serious all the time, Peter. Don't you ever just... let go?"

Peter sighed. "Gwen—"

"No, hear me out," she interrupted, her voice softening. "I get that you're carrying a lot right now. And honestly, I hate seeing you like this. You've been through so much, and I feel useless because I don't know how to help you."

She looked down, her expression clouded with frustration. "When those jerks at school bullied you, I was furious. But I couldn't do anything. I just stood there, watching, wishing I could stop them. And now... you've changed. You're stronger, more confident. But it feels like you're carrying some kind of burden. Like you're always worried about something."

Peter stayed silent, guilt tugging at him as Gwen continued.

"I don't know what it is," she admitted. "Maybe it's a secret you don't want to share. Maybe it's something you feel you have to deal with alone. But I want to help, Peter. I just don't know how."

Her voice trembled, and Peter could see the raw emotion in her eyes. Before he could respond, she moved closer, a determined look on her face.

And then, in an instant, she leaned in and kissed him.

Peter froze, completely caught off guard. Gwen's lips brushed against his, soft and clumsy but earnest. His mind raced, his instincts telling him to pull away, but he couldn't bring himself to move.

The kiss deepened, Gwen's arms wrapping around his shoulders. She clung to him as though afraid he might vanish if she let go. For a moment, Peter felt himself sinking into the warmth of the embrace, his alien instincts stirring again. But reality snapped him back.

He placed his hands on Gwen's shoulders, gently but firmly pushing her back.

"Gwen, wait," he said, his voice steady despite the turmoil inside. "This isn't... normal."

Gwen blinked, her cheeks flushed. "What do you mean?"

"This isn't you," Peter said firmly. "The real Gwen wouldn't act like this. Something's wrong."

Gwen's expression faltered, confusion flickering across her face. She touched her lips, her brow furrowing. "I... I don't know what came over me."

Peter sighed, his heart aching at the sight of her distress. "Gwen, listen. I think whatever's affecting you is the same thing that influenced your dad a while back. Something's not right, and I'm going to figure out what it is."

Gwen nodded slowly, still dazed. She took a step back, wrapping her arms around herself as though trying to shield herself from her own emotions.

Meanwhile, across town, George Stacy returned home from a long day at the precinct. Exhausted, he poured himself a cup of coffee and stepped out onto the balcony for some fresh air. The crisp evening breeze did little to ease the tension in his shoulders.

As he gazed out at the street below, something caught his eye. His cup nearly slipped from his hand as he squinted, disbelief washing over him.

"Gwen?!" he muttered under his breath, staring down at the unexpected scene unfolding in front of him.
