Marvel DxD: The New Sorcerer Supreme

Chapter 17: Ch. 17 - Growing Strength

After learning the 'secret' to growing stronger from Serafall, I didn't waste a single second to join the Sitri family's army. With the help of an enthusiastic Lady Sitri, I was now under Lord Gideon's command.

Though this would only be temporary, as I don't see myself being a dedicated war hero or something.

Once I grow strong enough through the army, I'll request a leave and go back to the human world.

Of course this won't be my only method to grow strong as I spent most of my time in the library, learning the basics and fundamentals of the Demonic Energy.

As for Spells, it turns out it is as easy as imagining things.

From the books I read, Demonic Energy have a very unique function.

You can use your imagination to create spells. You don't have to sweat yourself with the calculations, focusing and other shenanigans that is normally required when learning a spell.

With the use of Demonic Energy, just imagine the structure, process and effect of the spell and you'll have your own spell in no time!

At first, I was curious why with this kind of unique ability, devils are still being oppressed by the Angels and Fallen Angels.

That's when I discovered that despite such ground-breaking capability, it has its limit.

First, the requirement of Demonic Energy obviously. The stronger the spell, the bigger the need to consume Demonic Energy.

Second, it requires a devil magic circle, which isn't a problem as I'm on my way on creating my own magic circle. It isn't that hard to begin with, as the Sitri library have tons of tutorials and research materials related to magic circles.

Last but not the least, the imagination part. Imagining a spell might sound easy but it's actually not. Just because you can imagine what the spell does, doesn't mean it will be created. Not only you have to imagine the structure and process but you also need to imagine the effect and outcome of the spell.

Put those things together, you'll have your own spell created.

So I can't just magically create a spell that could ressurect the dead and expect for it to work just fine without consequences.

If I do create a spell that could resurrect the dead, my current Demonic Energy might not even be enough to create the spell, not to mention to cast it.

Still, despite such setbacks, doesn't mean I'll abandon the idea of creating my own set of spells. I just need to be creative and productive when creating one.

Let's say, I create a spell that spews flames in terms of visual appearance but its actual effect is actually ice or water.

This will definitely caught my enemies off-guard who relies on their vision to counter or defend themselves from magic spells.

There are so many things I could do with this. As long as I have enough Demonic Energy, perhaps resurrection spell wouldn't be that far from my reach.

But first, before creating my own spell, I should go and learn some of the existing spells.

Thankfully, the Sitri family doesn't hide the common magic spells as there is a section of magic spells in the library.

Of course, these are just common spells, not the spells that are unique to the Sitri family.

Sitri are known by their water magic that could flood even an entire city if one is strong enough.

Now, I'm not sure if I'm a genius or not as I don't have someone to compare with but I managed to learn 10 basic spells from the library in just a month since I've been here.

If this was back in my world, this feat would've caused an uproar on Kamar-Taj and call them the once in a lifetime genius or the next upcoming Sorcerer Supreme and something like that.

Now, these 10 basic spells are the [Camouflage], [Mind Reading], [Memory Tamper], [Mind Control], [Audio-Visual Communication], [Demonic Bullet], [Demonic Blades], [Illusion], [Barrier], and finally, the most convenient of them all, the [Teleportation] spell.

Of course, each and every single one of them is convenient, such as the Camouflage spell, which allows me to hide my presence from normal being such as animals and humans, this doesn't exactly work on people who have magical senses, so I could only use this spell in the human world, I guess.

Next spell is the Mind Reading spell, which will allow me to read someone's mind, whose Will is either weaker than mine or their magic power is lower than mine, if any of those two are not met, I would have time using this spell on someone.

Then there's the Memory Tamper spell, allows me to change someone's memories, the requirements are the same as the Mind Reading spell.

The same also goes to the Mind Control spell, control someone but they must be weaker than mine in either Will or Magic Power.

The next one is my second most convenient spell on the list, the Audio-Visual Communication spell, its technically similar to a video call on smartphones but this spell is on 8k in quality and similar to a WAV in terms of audio quality.

Demonic Bullet on the other hand is simply shooting a bullet made of my Demonic Energy, more destructive, faster and effective than a normal handgun bullet.

Then there's the Demonic Blade similar to Demonic Bullet except that this one is arc shaped and larger than Demonic Bullet, the only downside is that Demonic Blade is slower than the Demonic Bullet.

Illusion, a spell that simply allows me to cast an illusion, the more detailed and larger the illusion is, the more it consumes Demonic Energy, of course, once again, it only works on those who doesn't have magical senses, so I can only use this to either scare off some humans or intimidate them.

And finally, the Barrier spell, this one would be a life saver as it allows me to cast a barrier in front of me using my Demonic Magic Circle, basically, its like casting a circular shield in front of me. The only requirement of this is obviously to have my magic circle.

Speaking of Magic Circles, I've been studying them for the past few weeks and noticed that creating one is ten times harder than simply learning them. I asked Serafall about this and she mentioned that only the Satans and original devil pillars has managed to create their own magic circles that is designated to their own family. What a bummer, so that means I either have to find an original pillar devil which is like searching for a needle on a haystack as most original devil pillars have died in battle on the Great War or I ask one of the Satans themselves to teach me how to make one myself, its not like I'm risking myself getting smote on the face by them or something.

So obviously, my choice would be none of those and try my best to research them and decipher how they're created.

Putting those as one of my goals, its finally time to settle myself as Lord Gideon, my commanding General, has issued me a mission in the human world.

A group of exorcists are spreading their faith, hate on the devils and hunting weak devils in the human world and it is our job to intercept them and kill them for such heresy.

Cool, right?

So now, I'm standing shoulder to shoulder with some of the soldiers under him, ready to take on our mission with pride, except for me though, I'm only doing this for the experience and the Zenkai Boost bullshit. Hopefully, Serafall wasn't lying to me by risking myself fighting to death.

"Hey, you look new," Inside the barracks where other devil soldiers were gathering their weapons and armors as preparation for the upcoming mission, one of them approached me, his appearance is a mix of red skin and short horns on the forehead, of course, his appearance wasn't distinct or unique as his features are exactly the same as the other devil grunts around me.

"Yes, I'm quite new, so please take care of me," Nodding my head, I responded.

"Well, look at that, I'm new too actually, so I should say the same to you." He smiled and gave me a salute.

His kindness was unexpected, I was expecting some arrogant veterant to confront me and call me names by being a newbie, is it wrong to say that devils seems to be better than humans socially?

"Thanks I guess." I replied. Now that I looked at him through my magical senses, I noticed that he's a Low-class devil, someone weaker than me. How wonderful, I've finally encountered a devil that is weaker than me.

Ever since I came to the Underworld, I've been using my magical senses on every devil I met on the Sitri Manor and let me tell you this, the weakest among them is a Mid-class devil like me, and she's a servant, their Butler and Head Maid on the other hand are High-class devils.

As for Lord Sitri and Lady Sitri, they're Ultimate-class devils, like Serafall.

It's scary to imagine that I've been living with a bunch of people who can obliterate me with just a single spell.

"Hey, what do you think of the mission? Aren't you excited to finally slaughter some of those pesky human exorcists? I've been itching to drench my hand in their bloods!" Oh right, I forgot I was talking with someone.

His words didn't caught me off guard as this kind of personality is actually the norm around devils. If you feel disgusted or against in killings, then you're the abnormal one.

"Kind of, but I'm more on looking for a good fight with them, I've been waiting for a good fight to push myself to the limits." My response made him look at me in confusion.

"So....you're saying that you also like killing humans, right?" Sigh, his guy definitely didn't understand a single word I just said.

"....Yes you're right." Still, there's no point arguing with him, so I just agreed.

"I knew it!" No you did not.

This guy even had the audacity to slap my back as if we were close friends, does he even know that I'm a Mid-class devil? From what I know, the devil society follows the rule of Strong rule the Weak and the Weak fears the Strong, so this means, someone such as this Low-class devil should be respecting me instead of slapping my back.

Despite that though, I'd honestly prefer this kind of interaction as this is real unlike fearing someone and praising them for their greatness just because they're stronger than you, which is as fake as it can get.

"Everyone quiet!" The bustling activity inside the barracks were interrupted by a gruff and deep voice of the mission's officer in charge, Dimitre Sitri, a distant relative of Serafall, though distant, he's still part of the Sitri family, so he still gets the respect of the devils under Sitri army.

Looking at the man himself, his appearance is very different from an average devil as Dimitre looks more human, his skin isn't red like the others and he doesn't have horns.

Huh, that's weird, now I wonder why those related to the Devil Pillars looked more human than the normal devils.

"We're on a mission directly from Lady Serafall, the one and only heir of the Sitri family." As he finished his words, I saw a flash of jealosy in his eyes.

So that's how it is, the cliche family drama. Let me guess, this man will someday revolt and try to fight Serafall to become the new heir of the Sitri family. However, upon looking into his Demonic Power, I almost leaked a laugh.

Why?

This man is one of the suspects of Nepotism!

He's just a Mid-class devil like me yet his position is an army officer.

Nepotism everybody! A concept that destroys someone in the workplace!

Oh, I'm gonna enjoy smashing this guy's head if someday he really dares to revolt against Serafall and her family.
